  • Randonnée en montagne : cascades et vues panoramiques
Meeting at the National Trust Carpark outside the Old Dungeon Ghyll Hotel, we'll set off walking into the valleys of Great Langdale and head upland towards our first stop, the hidden gem of Whorneyside Force. Leaving there, we retrace our steps and continue onwards and upwards to Hell Gill. Following the beck we continue to the head of valley and up to 3 tarns. We stop for a bite to eat and take in the views of the higher fells of Scafell, Scafell Pike and Bowfell. Continuing on we head up the gully to the summit of Bowfell past the Great Slab. Here we can grab your summit picture, a memory of your achievement to share with loved ones. Walking off the back off Bowfell, we'll descend to Angle Tarn, a place to stop for refreshments and enjoy the views of Langstrath Valley as it heads towards Borrowdale and Keswick. You have the option to take in another Wainwright in the form of Rossett Pike before we head down Rossett Gill and on to the final straight of Mickleden. The easy path along Mickleden ends in the iconic Old Dungeon Ghyll Hotel and it's authentic Lakeland watering hole, The Climbers Bar. Generous home cooked food and award winning beers served by some of my dearest friends. If we're lucky there will be music and stories a plenty and maybe the odd local celebrity. Other things to note The walk will be strenuous at times as we will walk on some of the highest pa

  • Balade historique dans des grottes et cavernes
Follow me on an unforgettable journey, through the Lake District's famously beautiful landscapes of mountains, forests, and valleys, where together we will uncover spectacular caves and a HUGE cavern. Feel the chill as you enter the 400ft tunnel... immerse yourself in darkness... lose yourself in mystery... Nothing can prepare you for the feeling of wonder you will experience inside the caves & cavern - just don't forget your camera or your friends will never believe you. Step back in time as I teach you about how this incredible landscape was formed through violent volcanic & glacial events millions of years ago. Unearth the long-forgotten past & understand how ancient beliefs in gods and spirits brought bloodshed to these lands. Learn of the hardships faced by men, women & children working in the mills and the mines during the Victorian era and understand how Wordsworth's poetry helped to transform society. This is a stunning circular hike that will leave you breathless at the beauty of nature & marveling at the Lake District's history. This is a DOG-FRIENDLY walk so please feel free to bring your furry companions along! On-street parking is available free of charge. Please do not park in the pub car park. Need transport? I can collect you from your guesthouse in Windermere / Ambleside or South Lakes area for £10.

  • Une demi-journée à la découverte du mur d'Hadrien
We'll meet up in the most dramatic, central, section of Hadrian's Wall and hike along and then return north of this ancient frontier of the Roman Empire for about 7 kilometres (4 miles). [A longer, full day, hike is also available - see my other Experience]. We'll explore the natural and historic landscape of Wall country, learn how to interpret the shape of the countryside and gain insight into the processes and people that shaped it. You'll acquire basic skills that will help you begin to satisfy your curiosity about the natural landscapes all around us. The countryside around you will never seem the same again. The weather can be changeable and picking good weather days well in advance can be a challenge; so days additional to the calendar are available, please contact me to arrange a date. Pick up from local accommodation and stations possible. Other things to note You don't need to be a long distance hiker, just comfortable walking around 4 miles in undulating country. No degrees in geology or history needed, just natural curiosity. Other dates possible, message me.

  • Paddle-Boarding, Guided Tour
Unless we agree otherwise, we will launch from a grand old boathouse on the eastern shore of Windermere. With easy access to the water it is perfect for beginners! After honing your skills by the boathouse we can head out onto the lake to explore. There are always beautiful old boats to admire and if we're lucky we may catch a glimpse of an old steam boat or one of the low flying Jets that train over the lake. During our trip I can share my knowledge of the local area, informing you on anything from the local wildlife and surrounding mountains, to the best spots to grab a bite to eat after the activity. Towards the end of the activity, if you feel comfortable, I may put some distance between us to allow you to fully soak up the surroundings in peace. Other things to note - - Please be aware, for safety reasons I can't take people paddling on a 1:1 basis. If you don't have a travel buddy please don't book, instead message me with the dates you are around and I'll try and find someone else to join us. - If your preferred date during the month of August isn’t listed I’m afraid I’m probably booked up. For September enquires please message me - The ability to swim and a reasonable level of fitness is required. Any questions with regards to this please contact me.
