A beautiful one-hundred year old Richard Sharp Smith historic home in Montford neighborhood. 3 blocks from the center of town, 5-15 minute walk to everything. Hot tub, high speed wi-fi and cable tv, outdoor spaces for relaxation, gourmet kitchen.
You will be staying in the "Blue Room". This is downstairs next to the "Green Room". Those two rooms share the Mauve bathroom. This home is a quick 5 minute walk from the center of downtown. This historic neighborhood is peaceful, yet only a short walk to all the fun activities downtown. Fantastic restaurants nearby, the Pritchard Park drum circle, the US Cellular Center, and St. Lawrence Basilica are only three blocks away. We are a 5 minute drive from UNCA.. You won't need to move your car once you are settled in, unless you decide to go to the Biltmore Estate and Biltmore Village, 10 minutes away. Easy access to the Blue Ridge parkway, NC Arboretum, Folk Art Center and much more!
I love the beautiful old historic homes in this Montford neighborhood. My house dates from circa 1910, termed a "Victorian cottage", and built by Richard Sharp Smith. Many of the homes in the neighborhood date from the 1880's. This Victorian neighborhood was the first suburb of Asheville. It is very quiet and friendly. Lots of beautiful walking opportunities around the neighborhood.

Dragonfly Cottage built in 1905 is vintage Asheville boarding house, mix of modern (completely updated) and old. Walking distance to Brewery"s, or downtown shops and restaurants. Downtown neighborhood can be loud. Some people are not prepared for noise and street people. Sweet front flower garden, large front porch, and front parlor available to guest at all times. Old dog Levi is now confined to back of the house, host living quarters and back yard, not trustworthy around guest.
Couple or singles get away! Nice old world bedrooms. Two rentals up stairs this one is on the front of house with private bath across the hall. The other rental is Dragonfly Cottage II on back of house with ensuite bath. Both have comfortable queen size beds. Bathrooms completely updated. Local art displayed to create a mix of old and new. Pease ask about the artist. Parlor room downstairs available for those that can't sleep (not wanting to disturb partner) and/or want a place to sit, and read. Have a bourbon before retiring, a southern tradition!
This is a downtown transitional neighborhood with 24/7 activity. Grocery, art's theater, restaurants, brewery's are all right down the street. Friday night drum circle is a must in Asheville.

If history repeats itself, then may it always be a replay of Asheville’s Gilded Age. If walls could talk, then a centenarian newsroom would have some spectacular stories to tell. And if location is everything, then The Asheville Times Building @ 120 College Street is the epicenter of all things Asheville. Welcome to the intersection of past & present, to stories of the Gilded Age, and to the ideal home base for Asheville vacations. Welcome to The Daily Condo 201 @ the Asheville Times Building.
Historic Building, Iconic Views! Heart of Downtown w/ Private Outdoor Space Once home to the Asheville Times, the local afternoon newspaper and now the city’s most antique-chic address, this is IT: a 1-bedroom, 1-bath, 500 square-foot condo that breathes Asheville history, embodies the Gilded Age spirit, and incorporates all the modern amenities of the 21st century. HIGHLIGHTS (many more details, below) ------------------ •• Stay in the Shadow of the Gilded Age •• → Asheville, built post-Industrial boom and riding so high it was almost Depression-proof, is unique among Southern cities. So, why would you stay anywhere but in the historic center? Located in the Asheville Times Building @ 120 College Street, The Daily Condo 201 represents the heart of iconic Asheville: in the shadow the Jackson Building (check out that view!), at the start of the Urban Trail arts & history tour, and with easy access to the city’s exceptional dining, nightlife, and culture. Walk Score: 86 – “Very Walkable”! •• Historic yet Contemporary Design•• → From soaring ceilings to original hardwoods, from antique doorknobs to one-of-a-kind artwork, from leather seating to century-old balustrades, the Asheville Times Building preserves the old while incorporating all the must-have new. •• Private Outdoor space •• → Outdoor space may be hard to come by in downtown, but not at The Daily @ 120 College Street! Step out onto your own 160 square-foot, private brick-walled terrace: enjoy a meal (or just a drink) at the bistro table (seats 2), check out the western views over N. Market, and drink in that sunset. •• Walk in the Footsteps of ASHEVILLE’S EARLIEST NEWS REPORTERS •• → There’s nothing more Asheville than living, breathing history. The paper – which changed ownership and names from The Asheville Daily Gazette, to The Gazette-News, to The Times, to The Asheville Times – witnessed the Golden Age of William Sydney Porter (pen name: O. Henry), Thomas Wolfe, and F. Scott Fitzgerald, among other Asheville art royalty. Indeed, 120 College Street is THE creatively prestigious address in Asheville. •• Modern Amenities •• → From a 43” Smart TV’s wall-mounted in both the living room and BR, to streaming entertainment, dimmer lights to a street intercom system, blackout shades to keyless entry, portable speaker, and stainless steel appliances, The Daily Condo 201 in the Asheville Times Building at 120 College Street has all the modern comforts you crave. •• Fast WiFi •• → Go on, upload that Asheville selfie! With fast WiFi, you’re as connected as you want to be. •• Easy Parking •• → You don’t need a car at 120 College Street but if you bring one, you’ll be happy to know that parking is easy to find, in lots, parking decks, and on street. •• Locally Managed •• → Don’t underestimate the value of having an Asheville local in your back pocket! From filling you in on secret, no-signage bars, to being on-call 24/7 to help in a late-night emergency, to remote-rebooting the WiFi at a moment’s notice, our 100% local service delivers both a great experience and peace of mind. •• Perfect for Groups •• → Traveling with other families or as a group? Good news! We manage three one- and two-bedroom properties at 120 College Street, to accommodate a total of 8 guests. ☀☀☀ Antique-Chic DESIGN ☀☀☀ The Daily Condo 201 at 120 College Street is a special place. It’s probably not like anything you have at home, but it is exactly the historic-yet-contemporary feel you seek in Asheville. It is historic. It is completely renovated. It is period-perfect. It is home. Or, a home-away-from-home, at least. Each of the three properties, The Gazette Condo 200, The Daily Condo 201 and The News Condo 202 the Asheville Times Building at 120 College Street rises to 10-foot ceilings and blends select antiques with new pieces, modern furnishings with neutral tones, sleek lines with strategic pops of ebullient color. Architectural walls dull sound, the kitchen is fully stocked, the closets are custom, and the bathrooms are completely renovated. You’ll sleep like a baby, thanks to custom drapes and blackout shades. This is where modern meets old world, and it couldn’t be any more Asheville. It’s the perfect complement to your historic downtown experience, complete with a 160 square-foot outdoor terrace and bistro table seating for two. ---------------------------------- ☀☀☀ A Piece of History ☀☀☀ There’s nothing quite so Ashville as staying in a living piece of history. Specifically, a living piece of history where local news writers and makers once plied their craft! We’ll tell you a little story. The (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) a was a pivotal time in Asheville’s history: This was the Gilded Age, a post-industrial and pre-Depression age that welcomed the railroad, grandiose living, urban development, and the creative minds of O. Henry, Thomas Wolfe, F. Scott Fitzgerald, and others. Asheville rode so high it almost side-stepped the Great Depression. The Asheville Times Building @ 120 College Street was originally built in (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) for the Asheville Gazette-News; (later, the Asheville Times), occupied 120 College Street until the (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) ’s. Fun fact: In (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) , Thomas Wolfe would forever immortalize this time in his highly autobiographical first novel “Look Homeward, Angel,” a coming-of-age story that mirrored his life in Asheville and experiences at his mother’s famous boardinghouse, Dixieland, "the most famous boardinghouse in American fiction.” Just two blocks north on Market Street is the restored Thomas Wolfe Memorial State Historic Site and welcomes visitors Tuesday-Saturday. ----------------------------------
☀☀☀ Welcome ☀☀☀ Welcome to the Asheville Times Building @ 120 College Street, the historic and cultural center of downtown Asheville and former home to The Asheville Times. Welcome to a historic building that still unfolds over original hardwood floors, five-panel doors, antique doorknobs, banisters, and railings. Welcome to a home-away-from home located above the Black Mountain College Museum and Art Center and with its own private terrace. A downtown condo, just footsteps to fine restaurants and trendy nightlife, art galleries and antique shops. Yes, it’s safe to say – this is it. You’ve found it. Over 500 square-feet of historic space, The Daily Condo 201 offers a blend of antique and contemporary furnishings, neutral tones and bright pops of green and yellow, solid woods and airy windows, architectural touches and high design. This is everything you never knew you needed in your downtown Asheville experience. And indeed, downtown Asheville is here, RIGHT here. Walk out your door and you’re on College Street, the historic center of Asheville and jumping-off point for art walks and ghost tours, microbrew flights and year-round festivals, fine dining and museum-hopping. You’re in the middle of it all and exactly where you want to be. ☀☀☀ LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION! ☀☀☀ Walk into the shadow of history (and of the iconic Jackson Building), and you immediately feel the pull: 120 College Street is a place where old meets new, where history blends seamlessly with today – where a contemporary patina adds depth to the monuments, parks, and stories that have resided here for more than a century. Indeed, this is a kind of wanderlust (and wonder-lust) completely and uniquely ours. Welcome to Asheville! Here, in remarkable downtown, College Street is one of the most historic-yet-hip addresses in the city – a promenade that straddles the ephemeral boundaries between old-world charm and modern style. And 120 College Street is at the center of it all: above the Black Mountain College Museum and overlooking the Jackson Building, across from Roger McGuire Green in front of City Hall and the County Building, and Pack Square Park with a large open green space on a slope leading to the main stage, three water features including a splash fountain and original art by regional artists. There are many seating areas surrounded by native trees and shrubs. This beautiful 6.5-acre public space is an extra amenity for visitors to relax and linger. This is Asheville history, respectfully updated for the 21st century. So, while Real Life may be about compromise – sacrifice This to get That – we believe that vacation should be a special time. This is when you get both This and That, no compromise required. The Asheville Times Building @ 120 College Street is your no-compromise-required destination: at the intersection of past and present, in the shadow of the Jackson Building and overlooking Pack Square Park, and enveloped by the energy and charm of downtown life. The Daily Condo 201 embodies and embraces the Asheville scene – a scene that draws designers and artists, creatives and music lovers, foodies and artisanal beverage aficionados alike. Here’s what awaits: Dining: Asheville is a food-and-drink dream – there’s a reason Livability.com named us a Top 10 Foodie City! – and from 120 College Street, you’re just minutes to much of your must-eat list, including French Broad Chocolate Lounge, Curate, Sovereign Remedies, Twisted Laurel, Over Easy Cafe, City Bakery, Bouchon, Mela, and Rhubarb. Culture: There’s nothing quite like Asheville culture to put some pep in your step and some erudition in your life. Be sure to schedule stops at the Black Mountain College Museum (your downstairs neighbor!) and the Asheville Art Museum. Finally, don’t forget to checkout a show at The Orange Peel or The Grey Eagle! History: From the 120 College Street, you’re just minutes to many of Asheville’s historic landmarks, including the Vance Memorial, Monument Corner, the Thomas Wolfe Memorial, and Asheville’s historic Flatiron Building, not to mention numerous statues, plaques, and monuments that commemorate the city’s past. Urban Trail Art & History Tour: Art and history lovers, walk into history on Asheville’s Urban Trail, a 1.7-mile walking tour home to 30+ stops at creative landmarks, public sculptures, dioramas, and more. It begins at Pack Place, almost at your front door! The renowned Blue Spiral 1 Gallery and Momentum Gallery are a couple of blocks away and the Black Mountain College Museum + Art Center is right downstairs. Festivals: From Downtown After Five (once a month, in summer) and the Lexington Avenue Arts Fest, to Drum Circle and Art in the Park, downtown Asheville and the River Arts District are ripe with arts, culture, and creative pursuits. ----------------------------------

This one bedroom, one bath studio is located in the back of my beautifully restored 1920s bungalow in downtown Asheville.
The studio apartment, located in the back part of my house, is decorated with a mix of modern and vintage furniture. Some have been in my life for a long time, some brand new to the space, and art made by me hangs on the walls. There's a small kitchenette with table and chairs, a bedroom with exposed brick from an old cooks stove and a living area with a very cozy pullout couch. The full bath has a claw foot tub/shower that has a custom copper curtain rod and antique heirloom vanity. This is a perfect retreat for two people, but can accommodate four if necessary.
The beauty of the house not only lies in all of its charm, but also in it's location! There's a unique Whole Foods, called Greenlife, right across the street and Trader Joes is a couple blocks up from that. If you fancy yoga, Asheville Yoga Center is about three blocks away, on Liberty Street. In the other direction, a lovely greenway runs along Reeds Creek, or you can simply stroll around the eclectic neighborhood. Historic Montford, one the oldest neighborhoods (and in my humble opinion, the most beautiful), is a block away and the architecture is truly inspiring. My favorite coffee shop sits at the bottom of the street, called High Five Cafe. Don't let the hip tattooed baristas intimidate you- the coffee is delicious! Most importantly, all of downtown is just a 5-10 minute walk, complete with shopping, museums, restaurants, breweries, bars and music venues.

If you want an in-town experience, this is it! Perfectly situated near downtown in a quiet historic neighborhood. Every element has been curated to create a special experience, including original artwork and hand-painted furniture, quality linens & comfy bed. A beautiful en-suite bath has been designed for your convenience. Enjoy coffee, tea & snacks, while gazing at the backyard. A mini fridge, electric kettle, coffee maker & all the kitchenware is supplied. Guest wing with private entrance. Smoking only permitted outside. If you are bringing a pet, please ask for pet guidelines.
I have 2 airbnb rooms, that have very similar features and feel. So if this room does not have the availability you are seeking.. check out the other room, The Sweet Spot - https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/6503015. The Boutique Room is a nice size bedroom with private ensuite bathroom in a separate guest wing in back of the house. The most important things for me are: clean and fresh, nice ambiance (decor), firm cozy bed, with quality linens, hot water and good pressure in shower and an area you can make a snack, coffee or tea. The room is equipped with a small fridge, toaster oven, electric kettle and coffee maker some basics (condiments, tea, coffee) and utensils. Original art work enhances wall spaces. Air Conditioning for hot summer days. A table with 2 chairs, for hanging out. There are lots of great little extras. I am happy to stock granola, organic yogurt and milk, good coffee, fruit and if you have something you love, just ask! You have a semi-private entrance, so if you are out and about late, no worries. There is a true feeling of privacy in the back of the house. Green fenced in backyard with table and chairs to relax - smokers welcome outside. Your safety is important to me - Locks on guest doors, fire extinguishers, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, safety card, motion sensor lights by entrances, and off street parking etc.. My driveway can accommodate 2 medium size SUV. If you have a very large SUV or truck you may have to park on street where there is typically ample parking. Only 3 blocks to town where you can enjoy many restaurants, breweries, galleries, shops , Asheville Yoga Studio (about 7 blocks) and more. Best of both worlds: close to the downtown, but quiet space when you are ready to relax. Dogs are welcome, but please check in with me BEFORE you book, so that I can send the pet rules to be sure you can abide by them. Fenced in yard for romping. We love animals. There is a $10 Pet fee per visit. I have tried to think of all the necessities, lots of conveniences, and many luxurious extras. I want you to feel at home and pampered. If there is something I missed, I am open to suggestions and requests. Most of the beautiful photos were taken by an Airbnb photographer with a wide angle lens that does distort the room size a bit.
This home is in the charming, historic Montford which has beautiful Victorian homes, tree-lined streets, and fabulous gardens. It is just three blocks to town, where there are cafes, music, and shopping.

Please read *expectations in “the space.” The heart of downtown is just a short 15 min walk away & Orange Peel is a 13 min walk away. We have a sometimes loud toddler in the house & we share one bathroom. Once booked, please be sure to read the House Manual. On Tues, a sitter will be watching our boy in the common space & our bedroom. Also before booking please upload a gvmt id to your profile. We require all of our guests to have a verified gvmt issued ID and host recommendation Thank you!
*expectations: Scammers: If I have any suspicion that something is in your inquiry is off I will immediately report your account. We find that a handful of past guests who have not read the information on the host pages entirely, both before and after booking, tend to be the rare individuals to leave less than glowing reviews as a result of misplaced expectations. So as to make your experience the best possible, we recommend reading the provided information in its entirety to see if our space is a good fit for your expectations. Booking We offer one night stays during the week, but two nights minimum on the weekends. Homestay This homestay is our primary residence which means your room is private and the common areas & washroom are shared. And that we have a toddler who talks loud. So if you plan on sleeping in late we have provided ear plugs in one of the dresser drawers. There is one bedroom available for your stay. It has been our nursery in the past and now has a queen bed and a sunset view toward downtown and the mountains. There is one shared jack and jill bathroom off of the living room. The living room has a couch and a hammock. Travel time The heart of downtown is just a short 15 minute walk away and the Orange Peel venue is only a 13 minute walk away. Once booked, please be sure to read the House Manual in the app. House manual likes being read. :) We love our condo in Downtown Asheville. From our condo, it's an easy stroll to downtown to get a cup of coffee, enjoy dinner or drinks, stroll through an art gallery, or catch a baseball game. We are far enough out, though, that we still get a restful night's sleep. You will also have access to the kitchen, living room, bathroom, wifi, and parking. Our home is pet-free. Pets are not allowed due to slight allergy. The Biltmore Estate is about a 10 minute drive. The Grove Park Inn is about a 6 minute drive. A plethora of restaurants are in 12 minute walking distance or a 5 minute drive. The River Arts district is about an 8 minute drive away as well. One of the access roads to the Blue Ridge Parkway is 1/2 mile away. Our building was built in 2008 and has a modern style. There is a bus stop down the hill, though you would not need it to access downtown areas. We are also within 1 mile of a traditional grocery store and a co-op. Asheville is very cyclist friendly, so let us know if you have cycling questions. We love showing off our city, so if you are up for suggestions on favorite restaurants or places not to miss (French Broad Chocolate Lounge!) then we would be glad to advise. Some of these tips are in our guidebook and a picture of food suggestions in the pics. We also love the outdoors and can give you tips on great hikes. We have an iron and ironing board. The washer and dryer is limited for use during your stay upon request. Once you are booked, please be sure to read the House Manual in the app, it will answer most if not all your questions as we are typically not available on site for check in. We have a toddler, so there are some toys around the house. Our home is somewhat "baby-proofed" but if you are traveling with a little one you are still responsible for your child's safety. Parking at our condo is free. If you're driving downtown, rather than walking, event parking can range from $5 to $10. Mon - Saturday street parking meters don't charge after 6pm. You'll likely spend about a dollar an hour at most parking decks and metered parking. Take plenty of quarters for metered or you can use the passport parking app. Uber ride is about $5 We are a legally recognized Homestay permitted by the city of Asheville. The definition of a Homestay means this is our primary residence. Short term vacation rentals (29 days or less) are restricted in Asheville city, but we do have permission to operate for short term rentals as a licensed homestay. Check photos for permit. (The photo is cropped to protect our address and other information.)
Our neighborhood is convenient to downtown though not amidst the traffic and noise.

Good news! We manage three condos at the 120 College Street: The Gazette 200 (2BR), The Daily 201 (1BR), and The News 202 (1BR), with a total of 4 bedrooms to accommodate 8 guests. ☀☀☀ Antique-Chic DESIGN ☀☀☀ The Gazette Condo 200 at 120 College Street is a special place. It’s probably not like anything you have at home, but it is exactly the historic-yet-contemporary feel you seek in Asheville. It is historic. It is completely renovated. It is period-perfect. It is home. Or, a home-away-from-home, at least. Each of three properties, The Gazette Condo 200, The Daily Condo 201 and The News Condo 202 in the Asheville Times Building at 120 College Street rises to 10-foot ceilings and blends select antiques with new pieces, modern furnishings with neutral tones, sleek lines with strategic pops of ebullient color. The white leather seating invites togetherness, the architectural walls dull outside sound, the kitchen is fully stocked, the West Elm dining table seats 8, the closets are custom, and the bathrooms are completely modernized. And you’ll sleep like a baby, thanks to custom drapes and blackout shades. This is where modern meets old world, and it couldn’t be any more Asheville. It’s the perfect complement to your historic downtown experience, complete with historic views over iconic downtown sights. Asheville Times Building @ 120 College Street was originally built in (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) for the Asheville Gazette (later, the Asheville Times), occupied 120 College Street until the (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) ’s ————————————————— Fun fact: In (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) , Thomas Wolfe would forever immortalize this time in his highly autobiographical first novel “Look Homeward, Angel,” a coming-of-age story that mirrored his life in Asheville and experiences at his mother’s famous boardinghouse, Dixieland, "the most famous boardinghouse in American fiction.” Just two blocks north on Market Street is the restored Thomas Wolfe Memorial State Historic Site and welcomes visitors Tuesday-Saturday.
☀☀☀ Welcome ☀☀☀ Welcome to the Asheville Times Building @ 120 College Street, the historic and cultural center of downtown Asheville and former home to the city’s first newspaper. Welcome to a historic building that still unfolds over original hardwood floors, five-panel doors, antique doorknobs, banisters, and railings. Welcome to a home-away-from home above a museum and a multi-level amazing view overlooking Pack Square Park. A downtown condo, footsteps to fine restaurants and trendy nightlife, art galleries and antique shops. Yes, it’s safe to say – this is it. You’ve found it. Over 1,400 square-feet of historic space, The Gazette Condo 200 offers a blend of antique and contemporary furnishings, neutral tones and bright pops of color, solid woods and airy windows, architectural touches and high design. ---------------------------------- ☀☀☀ LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION! The Gazette Condo 200 in the Asheville Times Building @ 120 College Street is your no-compromise-required destination: at the intersection of past and present, in the shadow of the Jackson Building and Pack Square Park, and enveloped by the energy and charm of downtown life. It embodies and embraces the Asheville scene – a scene that draws designers and artists, creatives and music lovers, foodies and artisanal beverage aficionados alike. History: From 120 College Street, you’re just minutes to many of Asheville’s historic landmarks, including the Vance Memorial, Monument Corner, the Thomas Wolfe Memorial, and Asheville’s historic Flatiron Building, not to mention numerous statues, plaques, and monuments that commemorate the city’s past. The renowned Blue Spiral 1 Gallery and Momentum Gallery are a couple of blocks away and the Black Mountain College Museum is right downstairs. Festivals: From Downtown After Five (once a month, in summer) and the Lexington Avenue Arts Fest, to Drum Circle and Art in the Park, downtown Asheville and the River Arts District are ripe with arts, culture, and creative pursuits.

Dragonfly Cottage, built in 1905, is vintage Asheville: mix of modern (completely updated) and old. Old boarding house feel. 15 min. walk downtown less to South Slope Breweries. Downtown streets can be loud at times part of the Asheville seen. Old Dog Levi is now confined to host living quarters and the backyard, old and crotchety, he is no longer safe around guest.
Bedroom is upstairs in back of house, Queen bed, master suite nicely appointed with ensuite bathroom, large shower, separated by old pocket doors. Wonderful mix of old and new, classic old Asheville boarding house feel. One other bedroom rented up stairs.
This is a downtown neighborhood and is busy 24/7. The bedroom is cozy on the back of the house. Ceiling fan and window air-conditioner keep the summer cool. Steam heat is healthy and warm in winter. There is a grocery, arts studios, theater, restaurants, brewery's, all nearby.
