We will meet at the Visitor Center and walk to the caldera rim where I'll show you how the volcano has changed since the 2018 eruption. Then we'll walk the Halema'uma'u trail into the caldera itself. As we hike I will teach you about the natural history of the volcano and the rainforest by using what see around us, showing how the volcano, climate, and rainforest interact. After reaching the…

Le lieu

We meet at the visitor center, walk to the caldera (crater) rim behind the Volcano House, and then hike the Halema'uma'u Trail, which descends into the actual caldera (the main volcanic crater; 400 ft. elevation change, moderate difficulty). This requires hiking down the trail and coming back up the same way, ending back at the visitor center.
