This listing is specific to an activity that me and my friend the Captain like the most. If you happen to be in the neighborhood and want to have some special time deep in nature, join us for a canoa ride around the creek. After a walk trough the mangroove on the unique swinging board we'll cross the mudflats left by the lowering tide, with thousands of little crabs scrambling away from our steps, then we'll finally reach the water and board a traditional dugout canoe. We'll ride as local fishermen do and, with luck on our side, we'll have the chance to enjoy the vibrant bird life of the area with flamingos, spoonbills, herons, egrets and storks populating the generous waters of the creek. After that we'll go deep in the mangrove forest and see the incredible amphibious fishes we call frogfish or mudskipper and the oysters that grow on the roots of these incredible trees. Now is the time we were all waiting for: the sky turns to beautiful shades of pastel colors while the sun shines on every ripple of the water surface, let's wait till it falls behind the Green Island... now it's time to get back to the Giriama village where you can refresh yourself with a coconut just picked from the palm or a glass of palm wine. We love to share what we love and we really love our creek, we're a small community and we do what we do with all our passion and love.
Hello everyone, I'm Harrison Hare Karisa, a Watamu native and member of the Mida Creek Community. I'm the manager of the Mida Creek Nature Camp and a veteran tourist guide. For many years I enjoyed bringing my guests around the Creek showing them the beautiful place where I live. I like to create a real connection with the people who come visit and I love when they show interest and curiosity about the nature around us and our way of life, so please come visit and don't be afraid to ask questions! There's a bottle of palm wine waiting for you!

We'll go through the mangrove forest walking on the swinging boardwalk, across the mudflats left by the low tide, in the actual creek with a dugout canoe, deep in the mangrove forest again and then back in the Giriama village.
