We will meet you at the boat dock off the Sierpe River, where we will board the boat and start off with a few safety instructions. Cruising down the river, we will pass through the mangrove forest, where we have the opportunity to spot crocodiles, macaws, sloths, and snakes. We will discuss the delicate balance of a mangrove's ecosystem, and how these areas are key indicators of the health of the local environment. Once we enter the ocean, we will start our journey towards Caño Island. On our way, we will have the opportunity to spot dolphins and seabirds hunting simultaneously, and can also see humpback whales during July-November. We will discuss the impact of overfishing, how you can help take care of the ocean, fun facts about marine life, and much more! Upon arrival at Caño Island, we will hop in the water for snorkeling! As scuba dive instructors, we know where to find the fish, and will point out the various species we see along the way. We will take a break from snorkeling, and head to the island, where we will walk to the vista point and talk about the island's individual ecosystem. Then, it's back into the water for some additional snorkeling before lunch. After we eat, we will make our way back to Sierpe by way of the Islas Violines bird sanctuary, which contains a magical and remote assembly of rocks that host a colony of hundreds of different seabirds.
Hi! We are Carolina and Davide, and we started the Life Planet Project back in 2017. Our goal with this project is to use our tours as a way to spark awareness of the importance of conservation and sustainability in nature. We love helping people reconnect with the environment around us. Everyone has the opportunity to do things to help nature, and we look forward to sharing our knowledge and tools with you!
