We will meet outside, in the picturesque alley. This is a posh area of the neighborhood that will set the tone of safety and exclusivity for the rest of the evening. Walking further we will gradually enter into a very special atmosphere of residential courtyards of historic city center and stop by a small WWII memorial where I will briefly tell the story of my family during the unprecedented siege of Leningrad. Then we will have arrived in my courtyard - there is so much to say about the unique phenomenon of "kommunalka" where the rest of the experience takes place - I will talk about it while we walk to my place. Upon arriving we will tour this communal apartment with humor and real life stories to make sure all guests are feeling at home and excited to start cooking in this unusual kitchen. We then will decide on the best tactics as a group to assure fun and include everyone in the preparation. The next 1.5 hours will be dedicated to the cooking process which I designed to give everyone a chance to try some vintage equipment while learning to be a considered team player as required by the rules of this communal kitchen. As we finish the preparation and put the ready dessert in the fridge to chill, I will explain the proper way of making and serving Russian tea. We will culminate the evening with a relaxed tea party in my cozy room and I will answer any remaining queries.
I am proud to have been born in St. Petersburg - my family survived the siege of Leningrad ( Google it!) and taught me to be empathic & strong. Arts, music, books , spirited conversations - all this I carry with me wherever I live. And family recipes, of course! My childhood memories overflow with tenderness and nostalgia over the simple made yet exquisitely tasting confections we prepared with mom in a tiny kitchen... Chocolate potatoes - kartoshki- are a Russian classic and over the years I have shared my exclusive recipe with friends in numerous places over the world, invariably with awe and a sense of magic. It is a fabulous way to synergize a group as well!
Ce qui est inclus
Classic Russian confection- kartoshka-a brownie type, chocolate tasting concoction that guests prepare themselves during…
Hot black loose leaf tea, served Russian style. Herbal tea is also available on request.
Walking to my home from the busy main street we will gradually change pace by stopping at a hidden from regular tourist routes very special, very local and very meaningful to me small WWII interactive memorial - my mom is a war veteran. We then will enter a typical Petersburg well-type courtyard , made famous by F.Dostoyevsky - an interesting architectural phenomenon. And the most part of the evening will take place in my apartment there.

Plus de conseils
This is an authentic Soviet experience from the 1970s. Some parts of the apartment are in a shabby ( not dangerous!) condition. Be prepared for an eye opening sight and stay positive - the so called “ kommunalka” phenomenon is becoming extinct, so you are given a chance of an exclusive treat!
