Our meeting point will be outside Bar Faraglione (the local) located at the Port of Vulcano, and from there we'll head off. We start with an easy 10 minute warm-up walk along the main road to get to the crater entrance. From there we will take the path, which slowly winds and bends its way to the top (391 metres at its' summit). The path is a mixture of volcanic sand, rock and clay. In parts it can be slightly precarious to walk but it is easily manageable. There are a two benches during the 30-40 minute ascent (depending on the pace of the group) and there are plenty of opportunities to take a breather and look back at the amazing vista. When we reach the initial peak, you will find yourself exploring a lunar like landscape, where lies the remains of the last explosion - huge giant rocks that were blasted out from the centre. Then there is another 5 minutes to the top, from there we will look down into the middle of the crater, take a walk through the absolutely mesmerising sulphuric fumeroles and look out at a panorama of all the other 6 islands on the horizon - providing the perfect backdrop for your photos. Along the way I will tell you about the islands, the crater, life here and help you with recommendations on places to visit. We will end our journey with a refreshing glass of prosecco or wine at my favourite local enoteca :)
I left the busy life of PR and advertising in London to move to the stunning, tranquil Vulcano in 2018. When I first came here, I immediately fell in love with the raw, wild energy and nature of the Aeolian islands and met my love, who was born here, after a chance meeting. As a certified Level 3 Personal Trainer and with a BSc (1st Class Honors) in Nutrition and Health, I have an innate love for an active lifestyle and wellbeing and adore being outdoors and observing nature, but I especially find the crater a magical experience and extremely grounding. I've explored extensively here, know the locals and climbed up the crater so many times across all the seasons, and my greatest pleasure has been sharing this treasure with friends, family and private Yacht groups. I'd love to introduce you to the Islands, so you can fall in love to

Please ask any questions when it comes to travel - if the weather happens to be bad on the day you book, the hydrofoils can sometimes be cancelled (this is rare). But please let me know your plans, or I can help you plan your trip and it is ok to change the date if this happens.
