You will come to Wakoto Peninsula area beside of Kussharo Lake. Kussharo Lake is the biggest caldera lake (ancient crater of volcano) in Japan, and there are some mouses of the volcano even now around the lake. Wakoto Peninsula is also the island of volcano. We will board canoes and leave the lakeside, and head for the tip of Wakoto Peninsula. There is a hot spring by geothermal energy, and even see the smoke. The hot spring is named "Oyakotsu Hell." "Oyakotsu" derives from the name of this island by Ainu language (The first nation in Hokkaido), which means "hip." We will try to boil eggs. Let's try to make Hot Spring Boiled Egg! That is Japanese popular snack. And we will go back to the lakeside to go by opposite side of the peninsula if weather condition is good. There are some birds, fishes and trees. The Island has particular environment because of the heat of the ground, so there are some species only here in whole of Hokkaido. Please prepare for the wind and some walk. And just in case, please be careful to your electronic devices. We cannot have a responsible to your belongings. Please enjoy from children to elders! * If it's windy and bad lake condition for canoe, we will change the tour from lake to river.
I'm manager of local web media "Okhotsk Island" in North-East Hokkaido region (Okhotsk area), and also manage accommodations "Okhotsk House" in the area. I worked at advertise agency in Tokyo, and now I'm living in Tokyo and Hokkaido to share the wonderful experience and deep local culture in East Hokkaido. We can provide this canoe tour with local canoe experts in my relationship! We will guide you with local canoe guide Tomoki Kokubun(https://www.airbnb.jp/users/show/256762319) and his friends. He is youngest canoe guide in the area, so we're trying many things to our guests. This kind of tour with translator is the first one in this area. And he is also photographer, so we can lead you to hidden photogenic places!
