Au programme

We'll start off outside in the shade with a Fresh Drinking Coconut each to sip on while we get to know each other and an introduction discussion of coconuts: a brief history, their growth cycle, harvesting methods, nutritional values, versatility of uses and overview of the different stages of nuts we'll be working with. Next you'll have your chance to open your very own coconuts! I'll demonstrate the different methods to safely and efficiently open and process coconuts and you'll learn to use a variety of special tools, including the machete, coconut key, husker, spatula, and scraper. Once we collect our coconut ingredients, we'll head into our state-of-the-art kitchen and you'll learn a handful of awesome staple recipes including: - Best Coconut MILK in the World - Fermented Probiotic Coconut YOGHURT - Fresh Coconut FLAKES/SHREDS - Dried Coconut FLOUR - And more... You'll get to make yourself a delicious refreshing superfood "milkshake", using your very own homemade coconut milk! We'll have a variety of 100% Hawai'i sourced ingredients to add in, including Kaua'i spices and Hawaiian superfoods. This is another great opportunity to discover more amazing local ingredients and nutritional value they offer! Finally with the brown shells you'll make your own coconut BOWL to keep and you'll take home your own jars of coconut goodies and a few surprises!

We'll meet under a coconut tree of course! Our class is held in the beautiful Hawaiian community grounds of Anahola Marketplace, both outside under our cute gazebo and inside at our professional kitchen. Attending this experience supports native Hawaiians and local efforts in Hawaiian homelands (similar to Indian Reservations on the continent).
