Sicilian chef Francesco, co-founder of Cucina Migrante, invites you for a fun FARM-TO-FORK creative cooking class (farmers market tour plus cooking class), inspired by the Mediterranean diet, noted for being one of the healthiest in the world. In this interactive and spontaneous class, you will have the opportunity to visit the coolest farmer’s markets in San Diego with our chefs, learn how pick out the best and freshest ingredients for the dishes, and meet the chef's favorite local farmers. We will take into considerations everyone's dietary restrictions and food allergies when choosing the ingredients. After spending about 45 minutes at the market, the class regroups in the Chef’s kitchen, to cook three delicious and improvised dishes from scratch with all the goodies from the market. You will learn the fundamentals of creating delicious and simple dishes with a few fresh and seasonal ingredients. We'll serve a welcome aperitif, and offer wine/beer/beverage tasting during the culinary experience and you are welcome to bring your favorite beverage. Born in Sicily where the importance of food is rooted in our culture. I'm an avid traveler and have been sharing my food culture for many years, and through this, connecting with people from all over the world. I'm always experimenting with new recipes and have incorporated many dishes from other cultures in my cuisine. In San Diego area, I have built strong relationships with many local farmers, providers, and local nonprofits. Get ready to explore the best FARMERS MARKETS in SD: -Thursdays in North Park, -Saturdays in Little Italy, -Sundays in Hillcrest. The meeting point is at an iconic spot at one of the three farmers markets (you’ll get the exact address after your booking). During this fun exploration of the market, you'll experience new food and people and learn about our local food system. After that, we will go to my house to cook and taste wine together.
