Ce que vous allez faire

We’ll be walking through out “Kampung Baru” (translated to English as New Village) and visiting several stalls and street vendors along the way. The tour will take you to 5 different spots, each displaying its own unique dish or snacks. You’ll be able to sample savoury food as such “Nasi Kerabu” (blue rice with mixed herbs), “Rendang” (slow cooked meat with spices, and no, it’s not crispy) as well as sweet snacks such as “Apam Balik” (Malay turover pancake) and Kuih Cek Mek (fried sweet potato with sugar). In addition, we will also be visiting the farmer’s market nearby where you’ll get the sample some of the locals herbs and fruits. It will be a 3-hour gastronomical journey so I hope you do come to the tour hungry!

Hi! I am Fadly. I have been working in the local tourism industry for over 10 years. I have worked at a local restaurant and as an assistance chef. I have a diploma in Food Service Management and I have a degree in Culinary Arts. Malaysia is made up of multiple ethnicity groups with each contributing its own unique taste, texture, history and origin to make up a highly diverse Malaysian cuisine. There might be a lot of food tours out there, but not many which focuses on Malay delicacies as it may be viewed as complex. Let me be your guide. Make your Malaysian experience a wholesome one.

Le lieu

We'll be at last surviving Malay village, Kampung Baru in the city centre where is remains essentially a country village, the symbolic heart of Kuala Lumpur’s Malay identity and large tract undeveloped area. However, Kampung Baru is targeted for a historic redevelopment, part of larger plans to upgrade to new business centre. Also this place is a gem for best Malay dishes. This Malay village is where the true locals go to eat.
