Ce que vous allez faire
We will start off with a Mexican breakfast + cafe de olla ( made with Mexican ground coffee, cinnamon, and raw dark sugar called Piloncillo) in a converted 1930s cable cart. From there we will meet our friends over at the artisan shops to see some specially selected niche items from all over Mexico with a special discount for our guest only for separate purchases. Sample things like candied cactus or as we call them nopales (sample items may change). After a little shopping, we will walk down to Chicano Park where will have a chance to take a bit of history and beauty of the murals with a chance for some fantastic photos. As a community member, I will highlight some of the exciting projects ahead for the park including a glimpse at the Chicano Park Herb Garden. As we walk along you will see art encompassing the whole neighborhood and get to see some of the hidden art down an alley behind the biggest gallery in the area along with a very hidden brewery. To finish off the tour, we will have special access to a gallery in the area where you can see some of the local artist work (gallery will depend on availability).
As a local native, Latina, and former chef I love having the chance to bring people into a part of San Diego that I grew up in. I have special ties to the Barrio Logan community, historically a Mexican-American arts district, where I already run a successful food and beer crawl in the neighborhood in the evening. The nightlife in the area is always fun to explore but there is so much more to see & taste during the day too. Let me show you the hidden gems, special perks, coffee shops, galleries, & artisan stores. As well as taking in the beauty of the murals in Chicano Park.

Most people are not familiar with this neighborhood as being a place to grab breakfast, but the culinary options are starting to expand. Come have the neighbor's version of a Mexican breakfast inside a converted 1930s cart owned by the coffee shop next store, take in the powerful street art, & meet some of the awesome locals giving us special discounts and access to their shops and galleries.
