We go "sight running" in Central Park and do it before the crowds arrive! We run at a casual, non-competitive pace along winding foot paths past the most iconic and historical sights in NYCs most beloved green space! We stay off the main roadway and prioritize the local's eye view. The run is just about 3 miles and we make stops along the way to talk about the history of the Park, take pictures and throw in some additional core strength and flexibility exercises. This is a perfect experience for the traveler who wants to stick to a fitness routine but doesn't want to waste their limited time in New York working out in a gym!
I'm a native New Yorker and have been lucky to have Central Park, the best place in NYC to go for a run, as my backyard. When traveling I would run and explore the local area and found it funny when I would see people lined up for the hotel treadmill. I started to wonder how many people were doing that here. Already a certified fitness trainer, I got licensed as a NYC tour guide and started Fit Tours NYC with my wife, Cindy (who I took on a Park Run as a first date!). We start at Central Park South and run through the most popular areas of the Park. We'll visit Bethesda Terrace, Alice in Wonderland, the Imagine Circle, along with the various bodies of water and famous statues that make Central Park truly amazing and the most popular urban park in the world!
