Au programme

Meeting by the lakes edge outside the historic Conjola Post Office & Shop, the route for this guided eco-walk includes lakeside, bush and beach. You'll hear stories of natural environment, flora and fauna (and some surprising local history!) as we wander along the lake edge with binoculars handy for a closer look at the abundant birdlife. Kangaroo sightings are guaranteed on this walk, and lakeside is where we're most likely to see them.

Next, via a boardwalk through the bush, you'll visit 3 fabulously placed look-outs with stunning vistas of lake and coast, before emerging on beautiful Conjola beach.
Walks along the sea shore vary seasonally. You might see whales, dolphins, endangered beach-nesting birds (and surfers catching a break off Green Island). Leaving the beach via a walk over sand dunes - looking out for wildlife tracks & seasonal plants - we follow the lake edge back to finish near Conjola Entrance boat ramp, with views over to Conjola National Park.

Bushfire Update
Conjola District was badly affected by bushfires Dec/Jan 2019-20, and we'll share stories of this challenging time with you on the tour. Luckily the tour route wasn't burnt so no changes there, but a heads up the national park views are no longer lush and green.

Your visit will have a positive impact on our bushfire affected community - thank you.

I’m co-founder of Kotahi Tourism and live in a small village called Fishermans Paradise, at the head of Lake Conjola. I've developed and guided (award winning!) tours in both Australia and New Zealand, and love sharing our unique local environment with visitors. I'm generally joined on these walks by my husband Hohepa. We're both from NZ and met when we were working at Te Papa Tongarewa - the Museum of NZ. We've lived in Australia since 2001, initially in Sydney where I managed The Rocks Discovery Museum and Sydney Learning Adventures, before we made a 'tree & sea' change to the beautiful NSW South Coast & started Kotahi Tourism in 2013.

An easy walk, discovering the beauty and bio diversity of the Lake Conjola area. Spectacular scenery combined with the combined eco, flora and fauna knowledge of Melinda and Jo made the walk very enjoyable.

Absolutely fantastic walk around with Melinda and Joe. we had a wonderful time listening to their stories of recent and older history on the area, and great information on local wildlife! they had tonnes of tips on the local area, and we can't wait to go back and explore all the amazing places they told us about.

Such a beautiful place and such lovely tour guides to show us around. They were so friendly and warm and shared so many stories about the local wildlife, history and the bushfires and looming threat of climate change. Would highly recommend to others.
