Misty Mountain Hut - Ruapehu

Misty Mountain Hut-Ruapehu is located in the sleepy little village of Rangataua, 5 minutes distance to Mountain road going up to the Turoa skifield and Ohakune. The 1 bedroom colonial villa has a beautiful view of the mountain. Unlimited wifi and a new firebox with plenty of firewood and a heat pump ensure you are warm in winter. My favourite time here is summer for amazing walks/cycling up mountains to enjoy majestic views. Misty Mountain Hut supports local staff by paying $40/hr for cleaning.

Kawakawa Hut

A small but special little place tucked neatly between rolling hills. Kawakawa Hut provides a simple but comfy getaway for two in a beautiful countryside. Close by lies the vegetable garden, and friendly cows graze just over the fence. Further out over surrounding farmland you can see Tongariros snow capped mountains in the distance, so sit back and enjoy. Lie in bed and watch the fish rise in the morning, sit around the fire in the evening enjoying the peace and quiet after a swim. Mountains are 40 mins away, kayaking tours 10 mins away and Taumarunui is 12km. Please don't bring water, free, safe water is provided. Limiting plastic is much appreciated.

Would suggest this for children only for the limited room. Can provide a travel cot for infants if organised in advance. 10 mins drive away from Kai Iwi beach and a 20-25mins drive to Whanganui. We are situated on the main highway but far enough to not hear traffic. Great location for kids to run around.
