The Forest Door - Studio Suite in Stone Cottage

Embrace the peacefulness of the Carolina Foothills in this ground level unit. The private apartment features natural stone walls, exposed wood beams, touches of color, tasteful furnishings, high-end decor, and a first floor walkout. The view out of the large windows is trees and forest which contributes to a feeling of being utterly surrounded by nature. We are located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains--the peaks are close, but cannot be seen from the apartment. We live above, and are very quiet and low key--you may hear the occasional few footsteps or running water. Events and photo shoots are not allowed. Canebrake Road is a graveled country lane with curves. Our house is at the top of the lane on the left--the entrance to the driveway is manned by a cement sheep sporting the house number around his neck, and is officially .56 miles from the beginning of Canebrake Road. Fork left into our driveway. At night, aim for the streetlight atop our garage. The kitchenette has all you need for quick and easy meals. Fridge/freezer, microwave, toaster oven, hot plate, (if requested), coffee maker, full sink and complete dishware. The living area has a smart TV, books, cards, games, and magazines to keep you occupied in the evening hours. The studio is very spacious, and if you have a child, the sofa will suffice, or we can provide a small cot. The surrounding woods are peaceful and enveloping--conducive to long and restful sleeps. The calls of birds and katy-dids are just about all that you may hear.... Guests can park up in the top driveway area, where it is easier to maneuver, or directly in front of the apartment. The apartment is very private and secluded from the main house entrances. We are in the house attached, and can answer any questions you may have. We leave you to your independence, or will socialize if it is appropriate. You are the guests and the time here belongs to you.... The apt sits at the top of a small hill, reached by a curved gravel lane and is less than 5 minutes from both downtown Tryon and Columbus, home to a number of shops, restaurants, art galleries, movie theatre and more. The Tryon International Equestrian Center is just 15 minutes away and Harmon Field, an athletic complex, is located at the beginning of our road. In summer, our neighbor's homes are invisible. The location is private and serene. A car is mandatory. We have a nice walking circuit, right out the front door, which takes you through the woods. Harmon Field is a 2 minute walk down the lane, with multiple sports amenities and the Pacolet River to walk along.

Coffee and tea is always available. Fresh fruit is provided for those staying 2 or more nights. Space is cleaned, sheets laundered after each guest.

A peaceful stay in a quiet gated neighborhood less then 10 minutes from Tryon International Equestrian Center, Cleghorn Golf Course, Overmountain Winery and Mountain Brook Winery. Sleeps 4 comfortably: queen size bed and the couch folds out to a queen bed. A small kitchen is included with all basic needs and coffee. Surrounded by trees, this space offers a quiet place to rest and enjoy the outside on a small private deck. 20 min. from Rutherfordton, Forest City, Tryon and Landrum.
