I am often present in my private apartment, working in the art studio, in the gardens or in the office. I am happy to answer questions, give directions and recommend local restaurants and activities. Sometimes I may be not home in which case I will be available via texting and cell phone.
Because I'm out in the back country I can only get satellite Wi-Fi which means our Internet service at Green Owl in really slow; therefore please download movies, U-tube videos or image rich content before you arrive. Streaming movies, gaming or other graphic intense use of the internet is disappointing and involves lots of buffering. The Internet works fine for all other use like checking emails and looking things up on the web. It's just not speedy :) If you need to do something that requires cable internet speed you can always do what I do, go to the Julian public library, which has high speed internet, great art work and is a super friendly place where you will see lots of locals (using the internet ;)
The kitchen is open for guest use from 8am to 10am. An apartment size refrigerator, toaster oven and microwave are located in the dining room for guests to use all day. Complementary organic coffee and tea is served in the dining room in the morning along with complementary organic cereals on the buffet as well as fresh milk located in the dining room refrigerator. Green Owl is on well water. It has been tested and is safe to drink but due to high iron content the water, when you draw a bath and in the toilets, it can have a brownish tinge to it. You are welcome to fill up water bottles from the filtered water faucet in the kitchen (I prefer my drinking water not to be brown tinged:-)
Green Owl is on a septic waste disposal system; PLEASE do not put ANYTHING other than toilet paper (and the obvious) into the toilets.
Heating and Cooling: Even though there is central heat rooms are equipped with heaters in the winter (and air conditioners in the summer). Please turn them off when you leave your room and keep doors shut when in use to save energy.
No candles or smoking anywhere on Green Owl property.
Due to allergies Green Owl is a Fragrance Free Household (please no perfumed products, colognes & hairsprays)
QUIET HOURS: 9pm to 7am if host or other guests are present.
SHOES inside the house...Wearing shoes on the hardwood floors is fine, if you go on carpeted areas please remove your shoes, thank you!
Laundry facilities are available please check with the host.
SAFETY: Please always stay on clearly marked paths on Green Owl property and please wear closed toe shoes (red ants can be found o the property). There is also poison oak on the property. I have done my best to keep it cleared from pathways but it sneaks in, always remember “leaves of three, let it be!” Also there is lots of uneven ground and unfortunately gopher and ground squirrel holes, so watch your step. During warm weather look out for rattlesnakes - as you would on any hiking trails in Southern California! No smoking anywhere on the property due to high forest fire hazard.
San Diego County Transitory Occupancy Tax is 8%. It must be collected after checking in and not at the time of booking. You will receive a request for payment via Airbnb after check-in. Thank you
