Rural & secluded, "Living in the Round", with eclectic decor! Unique cordwood Roundhouse on 7 acres of private nature reserve. Ideal for a small family, loving couple or writer who wants a super quiet getaway. Sleeps 6 on 2 Queens & 1 Double in 3 bedrooms, (*3rd bedroom is "seasonal"). Nearby historic Village of Merrickville has Rideau River Canal Locks, craft gift shops, art galleries, cafes, restaurants, live entertainment. Ottawa (50 min); Smiths Falls (23 min); Perth (47 min) .

Le logement
*Note: The 3rd bedroom, (named "Anishinaabe Bunkie"), is "seasonal" and only available from May through September. For "out of season" accommodation for 6 people, there are 2 futons available in the living room - please enquire about futon use when submitting a booking request.

The home is named "Kanien'kehá:ka Roundhouse" which relects the Mohawk name for "People of the Flint". This Roundhouse is a unique, energy-efficient, round-shaped home, of “stackwall/cordwood masonry” construction.

Despite the home’s relatively small, yet cozy, living space, it does have many “creature comfort features", such as a pinewood floors, wood-burning fireplace, air-conditioning, fully-equipped modern kitchen, ceiling fans, unlimited WiFi internet, 58" satellite TV, DVD player & a super stereo sound system! The decor can be described as "Boho Hippie-Chic".

For 0utdoor Living, there is a propane BBQ; above-ground (unheated) swimming pool with cedar lanai & sun deck; screened-in pine gazebo, (with a futon), for "bug-free" dining & fresh-air sleeping, if desired.

In the spring of 2017, this house & property was used as a "set" in an award-winning Sci-Fi feature film, entitled "Blue Skies on Mars", which was released in the summer of 2018.

Business travellers should note that Canopy Growth's "Tweed" facility in Smiths Falls is only 25 kms (23 min) west of the house.

Accès des voyageurs
Guests have EXCLUSIVE access to the entire Roundhouse. Entry is by electronic keypad with your own personal code. Access is also granted for EXCLUSIVE use of the (unheated) swimming pool & to the vast grounds with its abundant nature.

IMPORTANT NOTE: When booking, please be sure to accurately state the number of adults, kids or infants in your group. Exact numbers will affect pricing quote. Once your booking is accepted, you will be REQUIRED to submit full names of everyone in your group, in your messaging. No "surprise/unregistered" guests, please!

Autres remarques
Guests may want to bring their own shampoo & shower soap, (no "anti-bacterial" soaps, please!), and insect repellent.

Bath & Pool towels are provided.

It is not unusual to be visited by wildlife, (squirrels, chipmunks, rabbits, skunks, racoons, turtles, snakes, pheasants, wild turkeys, many songbirds and even deer!). We respectfully ask that you do not feed the animals because that would interfere with their routine natural feeding habits.

The house is 2.8 kms south of a paved county road, on a rural, well-maintained gravel road. There are several secluded homes on large wooded lots on the approach. A neighbouring private stable frequently exercises their horses along the road. Occasionally, the signal horn of a passing freight train can be heard cutting through the predominant tranquility of the area.

She'kon! I am a Mohawk Canadian who was born in the United Kingdom. My Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother & Great Great Grandmother all hailed from Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory in Eastern Ontario, Canada. My father was French-Canadian. My daughter is Danish. My "significant others" have been British (English & Scottish), Dutch, Danish, German, Swiss, Polish & Anishinaabe. I have lived in 10 countries, (England, Canada, United States, The Netherlands, Germany, Greece, Turkey, France, Southern African nations & Southeast Asian nations), and I have experienced life, at length, in another 45 countries. I resettled in Canada in 2006. "Don't Dream It, Be It!" is my life motto. So, I became, in this order, a world traveller; a travel agent & guide; a radio broadcaster; a rock singer & bass guitarist; a father; an English teacher; a sailing yachtsman; a beach bum; an alpine ski & snowboard guide and a music school manager. The diversity which has defined my life leads me to embrace and welcome everyone to my home.
