Le logement
You enter the house from the main town sea Riviera just past the museum building approaching from the Risan parking end. There is a small but famous Orthodox church next to the house. The main entrance door leads into the kitchen and dining area with original stone walls, stone tiled floor with a utility room behind and under the stone steps. This includes a washing machine, dryer, sink unit, and storage for cleaning materials. The kitchen dining area contains a fitted kitchen with hob, oven, dishwasher large integrated fridge freezer and sink set in a polished granite worktop; and dining table with seating for four comfortably but six at a push. Straight ahead are the original stone spiral steps to the first floor with purpose designed alcove with background light.

There are two fold away directors’ chairs which can be used to sit outside the house and enjoy the quiet square used by other local residents and shaded with a large palm tree. The square is set down slightly from the Riviera road which gives it a discrete and private feel. From the square three steps takes you to the ponta and sea

From the first floor landing is a fully fitted family shower room with stone tile floor and walls which contains shower, wall mounted WC, and granite worktop mounted WHB and vanity cupboard under. Set in the wall is a tall utility cupboard and window. Ahead is the second double bedroom with twin beds with bedside table and lamp. A large fitted cupboard unit containing the hot water boiler for both shower/bathrooms gives ample space for clothes storage. The original stone walls are a quiet backdrop for the period design dressing table chair and mirror. A period Persian rug lies between the twin beds.

The spiral staircase continues to the second floor now with a window view of the side of the church and rises into the landing leading directly to the master double bedroom. Within the bedroom access to fully fitted bathroom with stone tiled walls and floor bath/shower, WC and granite worktop mounted WHB and vanity cupboard under. The bedroom contains a period bed with two bedside tables and lamps. The original stone walls are a quiet backdrop for the period design dressing table chair and mirror. Two period Persian rugs lay either side of the bed.

The spiral staircase leads to the top floor living area which has maintained the original timber pitched roof and stone walls. The large sliding panoramic glass doors lead to a small stone floor open terrace with stunning view looking directly to the Island ‘lady of the rock’ and famous entrance to the Boka Kotorski Bay. There is an outside weather table and chairs with retractable overhead awning. Interestingly, an external drop-rope and pulley, is available for easy access to the ground kitchen to haul up and down teas and meals and anything else. Within the enclosed living room is a double sofa and two comfortable arm chairs beside an open high level fireplace. A small fridge is installed in the recess under the fireplace. The living room is serviced with internet access and television with many channels available. The area is supported with a good sized table on a period Persian rug
All bedrooms, the second floor sitting room, and ground floor are air conditioned and these units can also provide warm air heating as well as the wood burning top floor fireplace. There is an intercom system on each level allowing access to the front door. A child’s cot is available.

Perast, Kotor, Monténégro

The UNESCO listed town of Perast is between Kotor and Risan with villages in between. There is a regular hourly bus service going between Herceg Novi and Kotor where the bus passes along the Perast Riviera. So easy to see and pick up.
There are many restaurants along the Riviera and a delightful evening walk will take in the twin delights of the café society atmosphere together with the amazing historic Venetian architecture. The museum at the end of the town is well worth a visit; and during the summer months there are many art shows and choirs/singing groups serenading the dinners. There is virtually a flotilla of small boats taking visitors to the ‘Lady of the Rock’ island (which at the time of writing cost €5.00 per person),
KOTOR, the UNESCO walled city at the head of the fjord, is 11km via the main road and here you will find more shopping, a vegetable and fruit market, bars, restaurants and night clubs. Risan, in the opposite direction is of less interest and by comparison with Perast and Kotor will appear ‘run down’ however, the excavated Roman remains there are worth a visit
