My home is clean and comfortable and in a quiet, central Austin neighborhood. My job is to make sure you have everything you need and you feel at home while you’re here.

I’m less than 3 mi. from the UT campus, 5 mi. from the Texas Capitol, downtown and 6th St. and 8 mi. from Zilker Park/ACL. I’m in close proximity to Austin’s most popular attractions, events and venues.

There are 5 star restaurants, nightlife, shopping, CapMetro bus stops and a Greyhound bus station within walking distance.

Le logement
You’ll enjoy a quaint bedroom with plenty of natural light in a peaceful and quiet setting. The unique hand-made steel full size bed has a well protected and very comfortable latex mattress. The bedding is good quality and well maintained as are the pillows and towels provided. The room is equipped with a ceiling fan, antique rocking chair, four-drawer dresser, closet with hangers and shelves and a Bluetooth speaker. A blow dryer, makeup mirror and umbrella are provided for your convenience. And for your safety, there’s a carbon monoxide detector in the room as well as a fire extinguisher, crank style flashlight and emergency kit in the closet. Extra pillows, blankets, an air purifier, a tower fan and a small table are available upon request.

The office is next door to your room. Feel free to set up your laptop and study, catch up on work or send an email home. The printer is available for small jobs upon request.

If you feel like cooking and eating-in, the kitchen is always available and is fully equipped with a microwave, dishwasher, pots and pans, flatware, utensils, plates and bowls, glasses, spices, oils and condiments. There are two grocery stores less than two miles from the house [H-E-B in Mueller Market District (1801 E 51st St.) and H-E-B in Hancock Center (1000 E 41st St.)]. Please help yourself to bottled water, tea, and coffee any time.

The eclectic living area is well lit and equipped with a comfortable leather sofa. Relax and read a book, listen to music or enjoy a cup of coffee.

A covered swing that folds out into a bed, lawn chairs and glass tables sit in the front yard surrounded by interesting succulents and cacti. I think you’ll find the swing a very relaxing way to wind down at the end of your day.

If you’d like to do a load of laundry, please let me know and I’ll show you how to use the machines.

Laundry soap, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, tooth paste and shaving cream are provided for your convenience.

Austin, Texas, États-Unis

My house is in the North Loop neighborhood, less than 5 miles from downtown yet very quiet and safe.

I’m in close proximity (10 miles or less) to most Austin attractions and events including ACL, SXSW, Zilker Park, Barton Springs Pool, Deep Eddy Pool, Lake Austin, Ladybird Lake, Auditorium Shores at Town Lake, the Texas State Capitol and Capitol Complex, Bullock Texas Stare History Museum, Blanton Museum of Art, Umlauf Sculpture Garden & Museum, Frank Erwin Special Events Center, The Long Center for the Performing Arts, Palmer Events Center, Livestrong Marathons and 5K, Capital 10K Marathon, Eeyore's Birthday Party, the Circuit of the Americas/Formula One shuttle, UT Campus, ACC Highland, “The Drag”, 6th St., Rainey St. Historic District, the Warehouse District, eclectic North Loop neighborhood restaurants and shopping, beautiful Mueller Lake Park, Texas Farmers Market at Mueller, many Austin breweries and a multitude of excellent restaurants. Austin–Bergstrom International Airport is only 14 miles away.

The North Loop neighborhood, sometimes referred to as Northfield or NoLo, is a quiet, safe neighborhood located in the north central part of town. Most North Loop homes were built in the 1940s and 1950s. The majority of them are two bedroom, one bath homes that are around 1,000 square feet. Many have been renovated and are in like-new condition.

Years ago, the neighborhood was largely residential with local retail shops. Today, cafes, coffee shops, bars, and restaurants capitalize on the walkability of the neighborhood and the demand for local dining and live music options.

The hub of the neighborhood is the North Loop strip, a row of locally owned and independent restaurants and retail shops along 53 1/2 St-North Loop Boulevard, many of whose owners live in the neighborhood. Devoid of big box stores and chain restaurants, the vibrant North Loop neighborhood is a leader in keeping Austin weird. Famed for its selection of independent and unique shops, you can find an expansive collection of vintage clothing, funky furniture, books, and records.

Below are a few highlights of things to see and do on the North Loop strip.

Room Service Vintage
107 E. North Loop Blvd.
Stocked floor to ceiling with vintage and eclectic knick-knacks, furniture and apparel, Room Service Vintage will make you feel like you fell down the rabbit hole and landed in the prop room for Mad Men. Consistently named one of the best vintage stores in Austin, this store prides itself on one of a kind items and low prices. Make sure to check out their monthly specials.

Big Bertha’s Paradise
112 North Loop Blvd.
This vintage paradise is a carefully curated selection of some of the finest jewelry and apparel from the 1920’s and beyond. Glamorous items including headdresses, costume jewelry, and fur coats are sold next to unique everyday vintage clothing.

Blue Velvet Vintage
217 W. North Loop Blvd.
Pay homage to the good old days with quality tees from Blue Velvet Vintage. A downright essential haunt for vintage obsessives, Blue Velvet will have you skipping down memory lane and walking away with primo finds. Timeless attire shares shelf space with kitschy vintage finds. You’ll find a rare, ever-changing and diverse inventory that is sure to satisfy all kinds. Acclaimed for their selection of mid-century vintage party dresses, wedding gowns, and accessories, Blue Velvet Vintage is the place to go if you want to shine at a vintage-themed party or event.

Ermine Vintage
106 E. North Loop Blvd.
Need fantastic vintage cowboy boots? Look no further than Ermine Vintage. The cutesy vintage boutique offers one of the largest selections of men and women's vintage and refurbished vintage apparel in all of Austin.

Revival Vintage
100 North Loop Blvd.
For such a small shop, Revival Vintage make every single section count. Plus, every second Sunday of the month, Revival hosts a boozy pop-up shop from 10am-3pm and extends the invitation to other vintage vendors ready to peddle their historic stock and handmade craft. Oh, and an even sweeter fun fact about RV? Their rad inventory is available for purchase online. Outsiders (and lazy locals) can obtain far out fittings and vintage home decor straight from their Etsy storefront. No Texas traffic required. Offering a grand selection of unique vintage housewares, furniture and apparel, Revival Vintage has everything you might need to retrofit your space.

Breakaway Records
211 W. North Loop Blvd.
This all-vinyl record store is paradise for any music lover. Stocked with a wide selection of 45’s, new and used records, turntables and apparel, Breakaway has something for everyone - from the newbie record lover to vinyl vultures searching for rare items.

Apparition Skateshop
119 E. North Loop Blvd.
This famed skate shop is not only a full-service shop providing apparel, boards and more, but Apparition also serves as a community hangout for local skaters, musicians, and artists. Check out their community events featuring their in-house skate team shredding local parks alongside revered street artists.

MonkeyWrench Books
110 E. North Loop Blvd.
Feminists, radicals, and socialists welcome! This community-run radical bookstore and social space feature educational materials as well as meeting spaces for screenings, performances and local assemblies, all in the name of pushing the envelope.

Forbidden Fruit
108 E. North Loop Blvd.
Keeping Austin Kinky since 1981, Forbidden Fruit is the independent sex shop to stock up on toys, lotions, fetish gear, costumes and more. Truly adventurous couples can check out their workshops as well.

*****Workhorse Bar*****
100 E. North Loop Blvd. #B
Deemed the “neighborhood bar of North Loop,” Workhorse can best be described as an upscale dive bar. A jukebox, cheap cocktails, and a chill patio create a relaxed environment, while locally-sourced cheese plates, ****delicious burgers**** and an extensive local beer list keep it classy.

Drink. Well.
207 E. 53rd St.
Implicative of their name, Drink.Well. does cocktails well, really well. Their innovative cocktail list is inspired by local ingredients and seasonal favorites, guaranteeing a fresh experience for even the most frequent visitor. Pair the drinks with upscale twists on gastropub foods including pickled eggs, cheese plates, and burgers.

Epoch Coffeehouse
221 W. North Loop Blvd.
This 24-hour coffee shop is guaranteed to have something going on, regardless of the hour. Crammed with people studying, hanging out, or playing board games, the cozy coffee shop features an extensive list of coffees, teas, smoothies, and juices as well as a food menu sourced from local shops including East Side Pies, Green Cart sandwiches and empanadas from Mmmpanadas.

Tigress Pub
100 W. North Loop Blvd.
This one-room pub may be small, but it will leave a big impression. The close quarters in Tigress create a nice space for conversation over a cocktail list of pre-prohibition classics, new cocktails, and local beer taps.

Home Slice North Loop
501 E. 53rd St.
Home Slice's long-promised North Loop location was worth the wait, Y'all, so worth it. Buffalo Wings Sicilian pizza. These fluffy, cloud-like mounds of pizza are exceptionally delicious. In fact, you may very well have a hard time eating any other style of pizza after trying them.

Foreign & Domestic
306 E. 53rd St.
Inspired by Austin's culinary community, Foreign & Domestic serves up innovative seasonal dishes created with local produce. Enjoy their delectable dinner dishes, coffee and pastries every morning and a fantastic brunch on Saturdays and Sundays.

Phara's Mediterranean Cafe
111 E. North Loop Blvd.
The beautifully decorated Phara’s Mediterranean Cafe will make guests feel they have stepped onto a magic carpet ride. Intimate lighting, plush fabrics, and low tables create an inviting atmosphere as guests snack on Mediterranean treats and enjoy belly dancers.

The Vegan Nom
120 E. North Loop Blvd.
Breakfast tacos are an Austin staple, and the Vegan Nom serves up their signature, vegan-style breakfast tacos all day long.

I’m a proud mom to Morgan and Adam, two kind, smart, hard working young adults who are so much fun to be around. I’m also the proud owner of King, an amazing American Pit Bull Terrier who is brimming with personality and full of love! After enjoying my career serving the citizens of the great state of Texas for over 26 years, I feel extremely fortunate to be enjoying retired life now. And hosting with AirBnB has been the perfect addition to retired life. I really enjoy hosting. I love having the opportunity to meet so many people, from all walks of life and from all over the world. I enjoy opening my home to guests and doing what I can to help them enjoy their time in Austin and in my home. Some of my other favorite pastimes are cooking, eating, music, White Russians and working in my yard. You might say I’m cacti and succulent crazy! I have an older home in central Austin and I find DIY repairs and home improvements both challenging and rewarding. When I’m spending quality time with family or friends, traveling and hanging out with the locals or I’m out and about enjoying the company of good people, Life is Good! I hope I have the opportunity to meet you soon.

I'll give you as much privacy as you’d like while being readily available to answer questions about the accommodations, Austin eateries, night life, public transportation, events, etc.

I’ve had the pleasure of spending time with and getting to know many of my guests that have stayed more than a night or two. As time allowed we ventured out and enjoyed a little of what Austin has to offer. We went to the Skylark Lounge to get a taste of Austin’s live music scene, we walked King around the neighborhood or at the Barton Creek Greenbelt, we saw a film during the Summer Classic Film Series at the historic Paramount Theater, we enjoyed the view of Lake Austin and downtown from the top of Mt. Bonnell and we indulged in a hamburger at The Workhorse Bar or a plate of Mexican food and an ice-cold margarita at Chuy’s. I’m happy to consider some of them friends and occasionally touch base with them to this day.
