The Blues Brothers Express is close to The Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium, McCormick Place, China Town, Grant/Millennium Park & Lake Michigan. The neighborhood is great and only a block from one of Chicago's largest public transit hubs. The space is good for couples, solo adventurers, and business travelers. It's rumored that the building, built in 1890, was used by Al Capone to facilitate his South Side operations. - ***PLEASE READ-->Space is next to the El Tracks (Train) and does get loud.

Me and my girlfriend stayed here last week for 3 days to explore the city and go see a blackhawks game. We had a bit of a rough experience checking in. We were coming from Toronto, Ontario. We drove over the border to fly out of buffalo as it was much cheaper and our flight left early ‘530am’ so we had to leave our house early to make it in time. Arrived in Chicago at around 7am and we were told we could put our bags in the room at 10am before the cleaners came because the people before us were checked out and that our room would be ready at 1pm if not earlier. So we walked around the city for a bit but the weather was rainy and cold. We were exhausted cause we hadn’t slept since the day before so we were bouncing from coffee shop to shopping centres trying to kill time before we could get our room to at least get a little bit of sleep. After walking around for roughly 5 hours we head to the room at 12:45pm. Walk in the room and it hasn’t been touched since the last people stayed in it. Garbage in the room, bed a mess, nothing cleaned. We were frustrated cause we finally thought we could get some rest but that wasn’t the case. We contacted Charlie and he informed us that the cleaner was running late and he would let us know when the room was clean. So we had to leave the room again and go find somewhere else to sit down not knowing when it would be done. Waited till 1:15pm and asked Charlie if he knew when it would be done and he said another 10-15 mins. We didn’t end up getting the room till 2pm. Was a terrible start but luckily we made the most of our trip and had a great time. Other than the check in situation, the location of the place is really good and if you’re a light sleeper you’ll be constantly woken up by the trains that come by. My girlfriend had no problem sleeping but they woke me up constantly but that’s in the description so it’s expected. No complaints other than check in. Exactly as described! Thanks Charlie

Charlie's place was the perfect home base for our weekend in Chicago! Check in was a breeze with his instructions. Easy to access from airport via metro line. 2 blocks from major Subway lines, Starbucks, Dunkin donuts, traders joes, and another very nice grocery store! So convenient. We followed the guidebook for restaurants and they were all excellent! It is a small space, and the train was loud, but the ear plugs helped a great deal. The bed was surprisingly comfortable. It was enough space for my husband and I. Anybody with mobility impairments may want to look elsewhere, as there are 2 flights of steps to climb. We would stay with Charlie again in a heart beat!

Great location, in the heart of a nice neighbourhood and very convenient location to the conference complex. The apartment is like the pics, just a bit older, but very cosy, and really like the blue brother's movie (with the train lines right next the windows...) If you don't have any problem with the train noise, and you are looking for a convenient location to McCormick convenient center I will definitively recommend it!

This place is in an amazing location, so close to shops, and public transit, parks, downtown, very walkable. Charlie was great, check in was super easy and the instructions were very clear. It's an older building with a ton of character, and yeah the train runs right by, but it was exactly as described so no shock there. Loved Chicago! Only complaint is that I wish I could have stayed longer.

Easy to get to. Parking isn't really that bad. Found a lot a block away that was $10 all day 5am-7pm. Check out Scout and Gioco is great for dinner.

Charlie's place was great! Exactly as described, and a great deal. Free cable & Wi-fi, kitchen and walking distance to great stores like Trader Joe's and Whole Foods. 8 minute bus ride to McCormick Pl. and about 10 mins from really great shopping mall. All in all I would definitely recommend Charlie's spot to anyone who is looking for a clean, safe affordable spot to stay in Chi. With regard to the train: it's not bad. If you are from a city that has public transit (trains) it's a lot quieter than I expected from the reviews. I live in NY and I have the LIRR about 50 ft behind my house, when it passes, I can feel vibration. This was NOT the case at Charlie's place. It's so much better than that. As a Superhost myself, I believe this is a great spot, and Charlie deserves to be one as well. Read the reviews, and take a chance on his place. It's really great. Thanks Charlie for the great hospitality!

Hi there. I'm a long time Chicago resident. I own and run a small web development company in addition to operating two medium sized music venues in the city. I'm big into motorcycles and own a dual sport BMW GS. Art, bikes, music, traveling and meeting cool folks are high on my list of things to do in life. I know a ton of people in the neighborhood and city and can refer you to these people for further guidance while you are here.
