Private little studio with balcony and your own loo and sink, in my garden, in Central Katoomba. Great for walkers, artsy types, couples, and families with young kids. One happy guest called it 'enviro BoHo' - it's not a hotel/motel but it is warm, clean, comfy, more private than a hostel and I have chickens! (And a wee rooster). Priced low because the shower/bath is in the main house (but we're happy to share). As a long term local I know the best walks, restaurants, and the local music scene.
The 20 square metre detached studio is humble, homey and private but is just a short walk from the centre of Katoomba. It has its own entrance, and is tucked in the garden behind my modest mid-century cottage. It has its own balcony, which puts you right among the fruit trees and rhododendrons. It's carpeted with good heating and stacks of bedding (including electric blankets on the main bed). You have your own loo and cold water tap, kettle and tea making facilities, and all the privacy you need. Guests are welcome to shower in our bathroom (which is a 1940s original so shows its age) in the main house. There's also fridge space upstairs.
PLEASE NOTE: the fourth bed is really for a young child, and is not really suited to an adult. I can accommodate 2 adults and 2 kids (or 1 adult and 3 kids, or 3 adults and one kid). I can't really fit two couples in.
Accès des voyageurs
Guests access the studio via the driveway and can enter the main house (which has the shower/bath, fridge etc) via the back steps. It's just 10 metres away from the main house - enough for privacy but not too far if you need us.
The back yard is yours to enjoy. Plenty of parking in the street.

We're here to make sure you are warm, comfy, fed and happy. Other than that, we practice benign neglect! I work at home and I'm a writer so while I'm always present, I'm never going to be in your face. Please let me know about any issues you might have during your stay - I'd much rather be able to sort things out directly than hear about it in a review.
My chickens add a rustic feel but hate dogs, so no pets please. My cats agree with the chickens about that. Please use the wifi responsibly and ethically.
I'm quite happy for single travellers or couples to use the kitchen for simple meals but as it is tiny we find it a bit of a strain if groups cook in there.
No parties, no smoking, no guests other than those on the original booking. Please don't remove any books from the studio - I'm happy for you to read them, but they all matter to me and I'd like to keep them.
You are entering our home and we will be present during your stay - this means you are sharing the facilities with us. I am quiet (though friendly) and offer my guests privacy and space, and expect them to respect us and my neighbours. Cooking is not allowed in the studio (thanks) and I cannot abide cigarettes so don't allow smoking anywhere on my property.
