Où se situe le logement

Toronto, Ontario, Canada

A regal respite: This neighbourhood is called Regal Heights and is bounded by Davenport, Dufferin, St. Clair and Winona. It is an area full of royalty (Mount Royal, Regal Road…), so consider yourself king or queen, prince or princess during your time here.

A watery wonder: Enjoy your beachside stay: the Davenport escarpment is the shoreline of prehistoric Lake Iroquois. And you’re actually in an ancient riverbed right now. Garrison Creek, which was so polluted at the turn of the last century that it was put in underground piping, is running just about right under you.

An ancient throughway: Davenport Road is one of the oldest streets in Toronto. First Nations used a path along the base of Davenport hill to connect the Humber and Don rivers. This area has been inhabited by the Hurons and then the Iroquois in the 17th century, and the Ojibway (a group later called the Mississaugas) from the early 18th to mid-19th centuries.

Fave Cafés

The Sovereign: E side of Oakwood just north of Davenport, a 20 second walk. A postage stamp-sized coffee place with the best scones ever.

Saw-Saw: N side of Davenport just W of Ossington, a one-min walk. Homey cafe great for working in.

Alcoa Portuguese Bakery and Café: S side of Davenport half a block E of Mt. Royal, a one-min walk. Open 4 am to 10 pm, fresh bread, great pastries, tarts, fish cakes, and espresso.

Contra Coffee House and Locavorium: 1028 Shaw St. S of Dupont, a 4-min cycle and 12-min walk. A neighbourhood gem, this place is on a residential street yet usually packed. Yummy and healthy local breakfast, lunch, and snack food, free wifi, and an outdoor patio. Great place to work, read or hang out with friends.

Pain Perdu French boulangerie/patisserie: 736 St. Clair W, an 8-min cycle and 16-min walk. Quiet, with yummy French treats and popular for weekend bistro brunch.

Recommended Restaurants

The Gem Bar & Grill: S side of Davenport just W of Mt. Royal, a 1-min walk. This place wins out just for proximity. It’s a popular, hip hang-out with fun décor, a great patio, a juke box, and variable food and service. Open from 5pm to 2 am Mon-Sat, 12pm to 2am Sun.

Savera Indian Cuisine: 815 St Clair W, 2 blocks E of Alberta, a 4-min cycle or 12-min walk. Charming, family-owned, quiet, pleasant feel, yummy food at reasonable prices.

Dave’s friendly neighbourhood pub: 730 St. Clear W, just E of Rushton, a 7-min cycle or 14-min walk. Great food, much of it locally sourced, live music, rotating local art exhibits, and a cozy vibe.

Mezzeta Restaurant and Tapas Bar: 681 St. Clair W, just E of Christie, a 6-min cycle or 17-min walk. Cozy atmosphere, and a really fun place to eat with friends. They have a selection of 40 appetizer-sized Middle-Eastern dishes, including 25 veg choices, that you can mix, match and share.

El Rincon Mexicano: 653 St. Clair W, just E of Christie, a 6-min cycle or 18-min walk. Authentic Mexican food, great back patio and friendly service.

I'm from Toronto, a self-employed facilitator and trainer, lover of connection, discovery and learning. I work from home. I also travel a lot, mainly for working and learning, and love to go "local" wherever I am. I am fluent in English, French and Spanish and also speak Hungarian. As a host, my intention for my house is that it be a space to support community for the Great Turning to a sustainable, just and thriving society. I'd love to meet you if you're already participating in and co-creating that community—within the house, the neighbourhood, and the larger local and global community. Or, perhaps your stay here will kindle your desire to play a part in this unprecedented transition. In any case, my hope is that guests find here a safe harbor, a place of nurturance, joy and inspiration in which to rest, play, be nourished and create beauty. During your stay here, unless you are renting the whole house, you will be sharing space with me, and possibly at various times with my boyfriend, other house guests and other AirBnb guests. Sometimes you will be alone in the house (I am often away for the weekend), sometimes you will be just with me, and at other times with me, my boyfriend and up to two other guests. If you are interested in staying with me, please tell me about yourself. For example, what brings you to Toronto; what will you be doing here, what will your daily schedule look like...? Guests stay with me in my home, so I look for reviews, photos and profiles that say something about you to help me decide if we will be a good fit. If you don't have those things I may ask you for references.
