Located just 30 minutes from the South Entrance to Denali National Park, this is one of the BEST private campsites along the Parks Highway! We are strategically located on a secluded homestead w/ views of Mount McKinley on a clear day! Nearby Summit Lake & Fish Creek are perfect for Grayling fishing. This is a DRY campsite=no electric hookup, sewer, or water. No services, just incredible mountain scenery! Bring S'mores & some firewood to enjoy a true Alaskan experience around the fire pit!

Le logement
You will have full access to our private 1.5 acre lot, complete with a nice gravel driveway and parking pad. We also have the perfect fire pit for roasting hot dogs and S'mores. You'll enjoy some of the most spectacular scenery you've ever experienced with incredible views of the mountains surrounding you on all sides. With easy "pull off the highway" access via the frontage road, this is as easy as it gets for camping in Alaska.

Note: You're welcome walk up and down the gravel road but we ask that you do not wander around our neighbors cabins. They have security cameras and we'd like to avoid the conversation of why our guests are trespassing on their property. So just hang out on our lot and enjoy the view! And if you're there in August or September, we invite you to harvest all the blueberries you can eat. You'll be enamored by the beauty of the area and might even see a Caribou!

Où se situe le logement

Cantwell, Alaska, États-Unis

Our property is nestled in a small homestead from the 1960's. Outside of our little haven, the property is protected by Ahtna and National Park lands.

I'm currently serving in my 18th year of Active Duty Service to our great nation as a member of the United States Air Force. I am stationed at Langley, AFB in Virginia with my wife and 3 sons. We are sweating it out here in Virginia until I can retire and live part time in the Smoky Mountains of NC, and part time in Alaska! My ancestors have owned the land our NC cabins and campsites sit on since 1836. In fact, my mother grew up in a little rustic cabin on the side of a dusty road when there was no electricity and the outhouse was a hole in a bench placed over the creek. My grandfather even helped build Nantahala Dam after returning from WWII. I grew up exploring the mountains with my 2 brothers and our BB guns each time we went to visit Pop Pop Ferguson and Uncle Frank at our family reunions. In 2005 he deeded us a parcel of his land and we built our first cabin. Our 4 year old son Jack called it "Smawlie". We LOVE to escape the heat and go to the Smoky Mountains to play on the lake and hike the trails on our own property, and of course, the world famous ones that join them, namely the Bartram and the Appalachian Trails. As you come to explore the lake, the trails, the rivers, and the mountain roads you'll discover why our ancestors chose to settle here. In time we bought the remainder of Uncle Frank's land and in his honor built our second cabin and named it "Frank's Landing". In 2019 we purchased a true Tiny Home called "Little Red". Finally, inspired by the solar eclipse of 2017 and to accommodate the four-legged friends not allowed in the cabins, we opened "The Backside" - a beautiful campground featuring seven level tent sites next to a little fresh water creek on the Backside of our family mountain. In 2021 we hope to purchase a gorgeous Lake Front home to accommodate more of our growing family. When we were stationed in Alaska for 6 heavenly years - we saved our pennies and the PFD and purchased a remote parcel of property outside of Cantwell and have slowly begun to develop it. We hope to build a cabin there someday. In the mean time - it's the PERFECT RV camping spot, aptly named "Denali View". Thanks for reading this little tidbit about us. As you can see, our family has truly been blessed. We love the outdoors and are excited to share our property with you. We hope you love it as much as we do. It's the perfect place to "disconnect - in order to reconnect".
