Magical timber frame cabin on private 75 acres nestled in the mountains ~ cross between a hobbit & tree house. Five minute drive down to pristine Lake Willoughby, 25 mins to world class mountain biking (kingdom trails), and 30 or 50 minute drive to ski resorts *Burke* and *Jay Peak*, respectively. Perfect for couples, friends & families who want to enjoy all Vermont's glorious Northeast Kingdom has to offer (ski, fish, hike, bike, swim, beer-cation, etc) while still getting away from it all.

3 THINGS PEOPLE LOVE about our HOME:

1 - The cabin is truly unique. A custom built timber frame, it feels a bit like a cross between a tree house and a hobbit house. Milled from trees on the property, guests have commented that the house “is out of a fairytale” and feels “like it grew out of the earth.” From the gracefully curved wood beams throughout, to the natural stone inside and out, to the sod (grass) roof, to the private 75 acres that are yours to roam, it is a truly special place - an ultra private and peaceful retreat. The two-story stone fireplace is awesome and the open floor plan allows you to enjoy each other's company with plenty of room to hang out and make memories.

2 - The area is simply amazing. Listed in NYTimes best seller "1000 Places to See Before You Die", the Northeast Kingdom (NEK) is spectacular. You will find some of the most beautiful spots in the NEK are minutes away from our property. There is something for everyone, for every season: hiking, mountain biking, fishing, kayaking, beach, cross-country skiing, downhill skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling (VAST), craft beer hunting, and foliage viewing. And one glimpse of the night sky (away from those city lights) will *literally* take your breath away (it is a MUST SEE! Trust me: Do not leave without taking in the night sky on a clear night).

3 - Our private woods are beautiful. Many guests have commented on how peaceful the location is and have enjoyed exploring and hiking the property itself (see reviews). Discover local wildlife in the beaver pond in your backyard or walking the property. Sightings include: moose, black bears, fox, among others. A walk in the winter will always reveal fresh tracks in the snow. We also have a fire pit, a BBQ, picnic table, hammock, and plenty of space to run around - all of which makes for a great spot to spend time outdoors with family and friends.

3 THINGS TO CONSIDER before renting:

1 - Our home is deep in the woods and it is off the beaten path. You will be happiest here if you are looking for a secluded and remote experience connected to nature. Frankly, we are in the sticks and that's how we like it:-) If the prospect of encountering wildlife (big or small- mosquitos to moose) is alarming, it may not be the place for you. This also means that for our safety and yours, we have a few OUTSIDE cameras that help us monitor the place when she is empty. Most of the time, we just get updates of moose wandering by- lol.

Although the house is located near many desirable NEK activities, don't expect to find a Starbucks on our street corner. Big box stores are about 25 mins away in Derby (north) or Lyndonville (south), and there are plenty of other towns within 30 mins to explore. That said, there is the local country store at 10 mins (open year round) that has a great craft beer and wine selection, sandwiches, gas, and everything else your could possibly need- including friendly conversation. Come summer, they have an ice-cream window with just about the best ice-cream you have ever had. There is also a nice restaurant at the Willoughvale inn (also at ~10 mins). *Note*: Local places close at ~9pm; the perfect time to head home for a cozy night in.

2 - During mud season (spring thaw) and winter you will be happiest with a 4 wheel drive/an SUV . The driveway to the house is a half mile up a *dirt road*. We take care to keep the road plowed and clear, but remember ...this IS snow country! And there is only so much we can do to control mud. Also, if you can arrive during daylight hours, it will make your first encounter driving to the house more relaxed.

3. There is no cell service at the house. So if you want to be disconnected, you have a good excuse! We do have reliable high speed internet and you can connect your phone wirelessly; there is also a phone/land line for your use.

This stunning property is surrounded by glorious mountain views, no shortage of wildlife and plenty of space to roam. The breathtaking scenery surrounding the area is constantly changing with the seasons. Swim, fish, bike, hike, ski- it is all at you fingertips from this ultra private retreat. It's the perfect spot to enjoy many outdoor activities all year round!
