Older home that has lots of character. As the result of being a youth director for 20 years, this home holds lots of memories from playing cards, games and explosive laughter... and we're hoping you will experience this too.
The three level house is yours to use, however, we will leave a list of places that will be off limits.
Accès des voyageurs
You will have the house to yourself with a few closest off limits. We will leave a list of suggestions of where you can and cannot go.
You will reside in a perfect location to experience a full 2 minutes and 35 seconds of total darkness during the Eclipse of the Sun on August 21st.
The start of the eclipse will begin at 11:37 am (CDT) with the start of Totality at 1:02:11 pm (CDT). This time will vary by seconds depending on your location in Gage County. We invite you to join the party in Gage County!
A NASA Broadcast Location will be Homestead National Monument of America (4 miles from this home)! Several NASA Scientists will be joining us as we view the eclipse in totality. They will also be giving several presentations throughout the weekend activities.
Viewing site will be Homestead National Monument of America & Gage County Fairgrounds in Beatrice. Be sure to check the Weekend Events for all the local activities. Additional parking for Homestead National Monument will be located at the fair grounds in Beatrice, and a shuttle service will be provided to transport you as parking is limited.
Please strip the sheets from the beds and put dishes in the dishwasher.
As a former youth director (20+ years) and currently Activities Secretary at the High School, I love to provide fun for others, and my husband just goes along with the flow (bless his heart) so that's why we decided to open up our home in Beatrice, NE to total strangers. On August 21st there will be a total eclipse of the sun and our location is in the centerline of totality so you can witness total darkness for a whole 2:35 minutes. All hotels are sold out for this amazing experience so we want to give someone, or a family, or a group of friends our 'well lived in' home (five blocks from downtown) to stay in between Aug. 18-22.
