Penrhiw Cottage is a 300 year old wisteria covered holiday cottage located in the secluded Welsh countryside and in easy reach of Carmarthen in West Wales

Le logement
Based at the top of a valley overlooking the Carmarthen countryside this 18th Century cottage has all the mod cons to make your stay warm and comfortable. Rooms are professionally cleaned and beds are made up with high thread count sheets. There are three separate bedrooms all with double beds. Towels and additional linens are supplied.

There is a bathroom with a bath upstairs and a shower room downstairs. The kitchen is well equipped and a basket of goodies is offered on arrival.

The Garden is quiet, private and full of wild birds. In the summer months, it is a wonderful place to eat alfresco and while away the evening with a glass of wine.

The house is situated within an easy drive to many of the beautiful beaches, forests and seaside towns. Your hosts are more than happy to advise you on the best places to go and also suggest leaving your car at the cottage and taking some of the local forest walks.

Access to the farm located can be arranged with prior notice. There are acres of beautiful woodland and meadow walks around the farm and a range of animals to visit including sheep, goats, pigs and lots of fowl.

Please contact us regarding check in and check out times as we are happy to accommodate earlier arrivals or later departures when possible.

Accès des voyageurs
Access is granted to all areas of the house and garden. The bedrooms are accessible up one flight of stairs.

Autres remarques
Penrhiw cottage is well equipped but as it is a twenty minute drive from Carmarthen, we do suggest that you bring the supplies you want for your stay.
The nearest substantial supermarkets are in Carmarthen and most guests have paid a visit or ordered a home delivery of supplies from Tesco which can be found at SA31 3AX.
There is also a large Morrisons at SA31 2NF, an Aldi at SA31 2BG and a Lidl at SA31 1LS.
We do provide tea towels for the kitchen, hand towels for the bathrooms, washing up liquid, hand wash, toilet rolls, dishwasher tablets, kitchen roll and washing powder/liquid.nThe kitchen should have all the pots and pans you need with a fridge/freezer as well as microwave, kettle and toaster.

We try and recycle as much as we can, there are black bin bags and blue recycling bags located in the kitchen. There are drawers for different recyclable items such as all plastic, paper, tins and glass which is recycled separately. We have two very sweet pigs who will happily eat any food left over such as bread, cakes and most vegetables apart from onions, garlic and parsnips. If you put left overs in a bowl we can come and collect.

Nearby Activities (further information will be supplied by host) :

Locally there are miles of local river and woodland walks on the doorstep. At the host farm 2 mins down the track which access can be arranged to, you will find; two valleys which are teeming with wildlife additionally there is a small flock of between 30 — 80 Torwen Welsh Badger face mountain sheep, 2 Kunekune sows, 4 Guernsey Goats, 3 domestic rabbits, Geese, Ducks, Chickens, Bantams, Guinea fowl, Doves, and Peafowl.

There are over 10 miles of dedicated tracks, through deciduous woodlands, conifer forestry, meadows, parkland, marshland and bogs, with crossings over various streams and two rivers the Afon fach Pontcarreg and the Cywyn. There are multiple ponds and waterfalls scattered throughout the farm and walk areas. Bring a swimsuit to enjoy wild swimming in one of the river pools....although be warned the cold water is only for the brave!

All the Farm building’s central heating and hot water are produced by renewable energy from our biomass wood chip boiler. By mid-2020 we hope to be completely self-sufficient in producing 100% of our own wood chip from our carefully managed woodlands.

We are gifted with our own delicious spring water which we filter and purify with ultraviolet.

I have lived, worked and raised a family in Wales for the last twenty years. Love all creatures big and small and being outdoors.
