Maison Cyriax is meant to be a memory to my grandparents Else and Helmuth Cyriax, who have spent their lives in this house. The house is located in Harzgerode - right in the center. We have renovated the apartment on the upper floor with great attention to the details and are now looking forward to welcome nice guests.

Le logement
Maison Cyriax lies in a 200-year-old house, which is heritage-protected. The apartment upstairs was completely renovated for renting as a holiday apartment.

When setting up the apartment, we've put great emphasis that our guests are not missing out on anything. We assumed what we would like to find when we would rent this apartment. Especially the kitchen is very well equipped. You'll find a lot of kitchen utensils. And of course, it is not lacking in the basic equipment of cooking accessories such as salt & pepper, oil & vinegar, tea & coffee etc.

The car can be parked in a garage. However, the garage is not suitable for big cars. There is also the possibility to park for free on the street in front of the house.

Où se situe le logement

Harzgerode, Sachsen-Anhalt, Allemagne

Maison Cyriax is located in the center of Harzgerode. Harzgerode is a small town in the southern part of the Harz region, which was recognized by the government as a health resort in 1998.

Harzgerode is an excellent starting point for day trips to the highlights of the region. Close to Maison Cyriax is the train station for the Selketalbahn, with which you can go all the way to Quedlinburg. The Selketalbahn is a historic steam train. The trip to Quedlinburg takes about 1.5 hours and leads through the beautiful mountain landscape of the region.

The Harz is primarily a haven for hikers. Here are numerous hiking trails criss-crossing the beautiful forest and meadow landscape of the Harz mountains. One of the most popular hiking destinations is the Brocken, which is only be accessable again since the opening of the border in 1989. At the time of the Cold War, the area around the Brocken was shot down. On the Brocken itself was a spying station of the BRD. Those who are not so good on foot, can take a train to the top.

If you like city trips we would recommended Quedlinburg and Wernigerode. Quedlinburg, listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, is a 30-minute drive away. The old town of Quedlinburg offers about 2,000 half-timbered houses created over a period of eight centuries. Make sure you don't miss out to see the market with the Renaissance Town Hall.

Wernigerode - also referred to as the colorful city of the Harz region - offers countless half-timbered houses and a beautiful marketplace, too, as well as a neo-Gothic castle, which is set prominently above the city.

Only a 30 minute car drive from Harzgerode lies Thale. Thale is one of the places in the Harz, which offers the most tourist attractions. From Thale you can take the cable car (or car) to the Hexentanzplatz (witches dancing place), where you will find an animal park, a mountain theater (including pieces for children's) and an all-weather toboggan run.

Stolberg is a 20-minute drive from Harzgerode. In addition to the pretty appearance of this place (many half-timbered houses in Renaissance style), there is also the largest German karst cave "Heimkehle" to visit as well as the water park "Thyragrotte", which is very popular for young and old.

Western fans will enjoy Pullman City in Hasselfelde (30 minutes' drive).

I was born in East-Berlin in 1979. In 2000 I moved to Zurich, where I'm still living and working. In July 2012 a dream became true when I bought my apartment in Berlin.

Pendant votre séjour

My uncle and his partner live on the same property in a house that is accessible through the back yard. They will let our guests in and be available for questions.
