Light and airy, lovingly decorated bohemian family home. Very peaceful but in the heart of Hackney with all the interesting shops, cafes and bars it has to offer. Good transport to Central London (buses, trains). Fast fibre optics WiFi, Large screen TV, Gas cooker (for people who love cooking), electric oven, new fridge. 3 minutes from large park with river and canal - easy to Olympic Park.

Le logement
The kitchen / living room is lovely and spacious and the house has a lovely 'lived-in' atmosphere with personality. The owner is an artist and comes from a family of artists and this is visible in the unique decoration of the place. It is clean and presentable but is a family home so please don't expect a pristine hotel!

Où se situe le logement

Grand Londres, Angleterre, Royaume-Uni

There is a cafe very close by for morning coffee and breakfast and lunch if you like. It is called Millfields. You come out of front door, turn right, then right again and it's on the corner opposite the park.

The Park - lovely huge expanse of green - starting opposite this cafe - walk across diagonal path and you will reach a canal with many picturesque house boats on it and if you continue walking into the old filter beds you will eventually get to Hackney Marshes and the River Lea. Some people even go swimming in here ( I haven't dared to myself but some people do!). Also, if you rent bicycles - there are various bicycles available to rent https://www.visitlondon.com/traveller-information/getting-around-london/london-cycle-hire-scheme and also the dockless Ofo https://www.ofo.com/uk/en and Mobike https://mobike.com/uk/ - you can bicycle down the canal to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park http://www.queenelizabetholympicpark.co.uk/ which has many interesting activities, leisure pursuits and events to offer.
On the nearby Chatsworth Road there are many cafes, gift shops, food shops and restaurants AND a farmers market on Sunday with food and crafts.
If you walk up Millfields Road (away from the cafe) you will eventually reach Lower Clapton Road. There is a TESCO and a great giant corner shop called Palm 2. Further down the road there is an atmospheric contemporary Chinese restuarant called My Neighbours The DUmplings" - you cna;t reserve a table here fo best to get there early around 6pm. There is a nice bar downstairs where you can have a drink while you're waiting.
Coffee is a big thing here in Hackney and many of the cafes specialise in award winning coffees. You can get the bus or walk to Hackney Central where there are shops such as Primark, M&S, Macdonalds and TK Max. Then you can walk a little further to London Fields which is an upcoming trendy but also living area with many independent cafes and bars hidden away. An interesting one is Institute of Light which is a restaurant and cinema and record shop in a railway arch on Helmsey Place, London E8 and a bakery called E5 on Mentmore Terrace which has delicious artisan bread and pastries made on the premises. Broadway Market is a busy but small road just off London Fields which is packed with interesting shops, trendy cafes, pubs, restaurants. there is an open air swimming pool on London Fields park called The London Fields Lido if you feel like a swim.

There are also many famous old East London markets within a mile or two. These are Brick Lane Market and Columbia Road Flower Market (both on a Sunday) - these are worth checking out to soak in a bit of atmosphere.
