Casa Pelicano is a brand new beachside casita. You'll have the place all to yourself. Salinas Grande is a small fishing village where you are likely to pass more cows than people as you walk down the beach. From September to December, sea turtles lay eggs in nests on the beach and you see local fishing boats crashing through the surf at sunset.

Le logement
The casita has one queen bed and two sets of bunks (4 twin beds). Fans and air-conditioning are available. The kitchen is equipped with a sink, small refrigerator, and 2 burner cooktop. The large bathroom includes a hot water shower. We live in a tiny house on site and operate an after-school reinforcement program for the children of our community. Our two-story beachside rancho is a great place to catch the sunset or relax in a hammock. Your rental also includes use of boogie boards or surf boards. We have a flock of chickens free ranging on the property and various native birds make their homes in the palm trees.

Accès des voyageurs
You'll have Casa Pelicano all to yourself. Our two story beachside rancho is a shared space.

Autres remarques
We have a few pets on the property that you may have a chance to interact with. Our dog Luna is the security guard. We also have a flock of chickens (fresh eggs), 2 Toucans, a duck, and many native birds that live on the property.

Salinas Grandes, Nicaragua

Salinas Grande is a rural fishing village located 12km down a dirt road situated directly on the Pacific Ocean. This creates an environment different from the more populated tourist beaches where all the homes are walled off. There are empty waves for surfing and miles of beach to enjoy. Fisherman work from the property next door leaving each night at sunset to return with their catch at sunrise. There is a small pulpuria (in home store) within walking distance where you can purchase soda, beer, and a few snacks. A horse drawn fruit cart usually passes sometime during the day and so does the guy selling frozen treats from his bike. Our friends own a little shop up on hill where you can purchase fruit, snacks, and even order a take-out lunch. There are a couple of restaurants close by, but they are on beach time and not guaranteed to be open.

After traveling to Nicaragua for 1 month with our family of 6 in 2016 we moved from he Oregon Coast to Salinas Grandes in 2017. My husband, Dustin, and I founded a non-profit organization called Water & Light with the focus of bringing a spark of hope to our community through education and clean water. We homeschool our 4 children and are always up for an adventure. Cooking is a passion of ours and we love sharing stories with people around our table. We joke that you never know what will happen in a day in Nicaragua, but we always try to re-group as a family for a cold dink and the sunset.
