This beautiful house is a secret oasis of calm, backing on to countryside but on the outskirts of Bath. Turn out of our gate and you can walk in to central Bath in 30 minutes, or in the other direction a short walk through Batheaston village will take you out in to the stunning Catherine Valley countryside.
This house is full of delightful views and hidden corners, with a cupboard full of boardgames, a huge Brio train set and Duplo!

Le logement
Our house is a beautiful home for families and couples alike.

With a stylish modern vibe, this is an easy-going house - equally equipped for a romantic meal or a family with children setting up a train track through the living room (or both!).

Tucked behind a secret gate in the wall, our home feels extremely private and is a little oasis of calm.

Spread over two floors, it is flooded with light and most of the rooms have lovely views - either out across our garden or south over Batheaston to the hills surrounding Bath.

As you enter on the ground floor, you arrive in a stylish hallway, and pass through into the kitchen and main living spaces.

The kitchen is sleek, modern and stocked with the usual essentials and appliances. It is accompanied by 'the snug' - an open living space for you and the family to gather and chat.

Just past the kitchen is the open plan living room and dining area, with beautiful uninterrupted views of the garden presented through large, glass sliding doors which give access to the patio. For cosy evenings in, our living room has a shabby corner sofa and a wonderful 55 inch smart HD TV.

Upstairs, the master bedroom has a huge superking bed from which soak up the stunning view over our garden through the picture window. If you are lucky (and an early riser) you might see the occasional wild deer sneaking across the lawn at dawn.

Our two further bedrooms offer something different, and will particularly suit younger guests. Both have single beds: one has a high sleeper so guests can enjoy the view over the rooftops to the hills in the distance ... the other boasts a 'secret' pull out trundle bed which adds another single bed, converting the into a lovely 'room for two'.

We have a well stocked toy cupboard to keep younger guests entertained - a huge Brio train set, some classic picture books, Duplo and lots of well loved board games.

If you need to work whilst you visit - we have good broadband and wifi throughout the house, and a further upstairs room which we use as an office - though the view over the garden might prove distracting!

Outside, the patio spans the house and garden and has cosy ambient lighting at night. Our large outdoor table invites you to dine outside, and blankets will help you make use of this in the cooler months.

From the willow tree thangs a lovely natural swing - enjoyed by young and old guests alike, and in one of the other trees hides a secret reading nook for intrepid climbers. If you visit during the late summer / early autumn feel free to enjoy the apples straight from our trees - 'eaters' in the garden, and 'cookers' by the front door.

A few other bits and pieces to note:

- To access our house, from the road, you climb two flights of outside stairs. These are well lit and maintained, but might prove tricky if you have mobility issues.
- The entrance gate to our house is immediately off the High Street, which does have traffic. Please do take care to supervise young people as you come and go (but especially when leaving the house).
- We have an outside shimmer wall on the side of our shed. On brighter mornings, this captures the light and creates a nice dappled effect inside the house. Please be aware this may affect people who have a sensitivity to flashing lights.
- Our home is lovely for younger guests as there is lots of space to play, but we don't have any stair gates, and there is no fence at the back of the garden to the field beyond (though nettles provide a natural barrier!). The high sleeper single is suitable for older children, but a bit high for younger ones.
- We can provide a Tripp Trapp highchair if required, but please do tell us in advance so we can arrange. We do not have a cot bed, but there is plenty of space for a travel cot in any of the bedrooms or the office. We do not have a microwave.
- You might see wall and ceiling speakers in some of our photos but sadly these aren't connected at the moment. We do, however, have a Bose speaker in the kitchen which you can connect your devices to via bluetooth.
- Whilst our house is peaceful and completely private, it is semi-detached and we do have neighbours. We ask guests to be respectful when it comes to noise levels, which is why the property is not suitable for parties or groups with more than 4 adults. It is perfect for relaxing breaks and particularly suited for families up to 5 people.

Emplacement

Batheaston, Angleterre, Royaume-Uni

Our house is located in Batheaston, just on the outskirts of Bath. It makes a perfect base for discovering the area.

We are only a few minutes walk from a cycle track which connects to the Bath Canal Path - offering miles of easy exploring by bike, we are also on the edge of the truly stunning St Catherine Valley with its twisty hills and country lanes it offers a challenge for those more committed cyclists.

Our village is tucked just behind Solsbury Hill and this is just one of many lovely walks from our gate.

You can walk right in to the centre of Bath in about 30 minutes, or by car in 5. So it is easy to explore all of Bath's Georgian gems; the Royal Crescent, the Roman baths, Thermae Spa, Pump Rooms, Assembly Rooms to name just a few.

Bristol is only half an hour away by car - our favourites here include the SS Great Britain, the intriguing and interactive We the Curious museum with its Wallace and Gromit exhibition, and the M Shed.

Slightly further afield are the mystical sites of Stonehenge and Avebury Stone Circles.

Please check before you visit for current coronavirus restrictions.
