Le logement
Right in the heart of south central Kentucky, this home has a beautiful front porch with two rocking chairs where you can enjoy your morning coffee or tea. It includes three beds and one bath. There is parking in the front and back with two steps to enter the home. The upstairs offers two rooms with one that has a door and full bed and the other is at the top of the stairs with no door and full bed (ceiling height is right under 7 feet for any tall, tall travelers).

Train tracks are nearby and trains can be heard passing throughout the day and night.

The kitchen is a cozy space with a small dining room table for four but an additional bench in the kitchen closet can be added to seat 6. Kitchen linens will include 2 dish towels and 2 washcloths. The living room has a full couch, recliner, and love seat. In the bathroom, linens included are 6 bath towels, 2 hand towels, and 6 wash cloths.

Much of the downstairs decor is in an American theme. We are a proud Veteran family.

The back entry provides a "mudroom" space great for coming in and out after a long day of exploring or traveling. Access via the front door/porch is also accessible with a key code. There are 2 steps to enter the back door and 4 steps to enter the front door.

In order to be energy efficient, the thermostat is limited in range. For heating, 72 degrees Fahrenheit is the max temperature and 68 degrees Fahrenheit is the minimum temperature for cooling. A space heater is available for use while in the home in the master bedroom on the first floor and a portable fan and window AC unit for cooling in the upstairs. (Remember, heat rises! I can't change that warm air rises when it's surrounded by cold air because of its lower density) :)

You will have the entire home to yourself - it is not a shared space.

Où se situe le logement

Park City, Kentucky, États-Unis

Park City is a small town with less than 600 people. It has historically served as a gateway to nearby Mammoth Cave National Park and to Diamond Caverns, a privately owned cave attraction. The historic Grand Victorian Inn is within walking distance.

History of Park City: By 1827, a stagecoach relay station had developed into a settlement with a post office named Three Forks. The postmaster William Bell owned a large plantation nearby, with a prominent tavern, which led to the community also being known as Bell's Station. In 1859, the mainline of the Louisville and Nashville Railroad reached the plantation, and in 1863 the Glasgow spur was completed. The community was then known as Glasgow Junction after the L&N Depot, which also served as the junction between the mainline and the Mammoth Cave Railroad. There was a close relationship between Mammoth Cave and Diamond Cave (Diamond Caverns) for years. Books and cave brochures would describe both caves. Beginning in 1880, the Mammoth Cave Railroad tracks were laid just west of Diamond Cave. When the line finally opened in 1886, Diamond was one of the primary stops on the railroad. Excursions were available to see Diamond and Mammoth Caves on the same day, and still return to Glasgow Junction in time to catch through trains to Louisville or Nashville.

I’m a native northerner, but right at home in Kentucky. I love to read, run, and mountain bike. Spending time with my family tops the list. I’m a lifelong student and teacher, so I also am constantly learning something new!
