This quirky Steampunk/Industrial style accommodation is in a 9 acre smallholding and attached to a grade 2 listed Victorian house of significant historic interest. Whilst the owners live here, it affords a high degree of privacy with its own screened off private entrance. Theres direct access to footpaths leading to the moor and the local village.

Le logement
The accommodation is full of character with many original Victorian features such as a high ceiling, original sash windows and latch doors.

Its very cosy in cold weather, with its own log burner, warm fluffy throws, bathrobes and hot water bottles. Past guests have remarked on the great quality of sleep they have had here, with a really comfortable bed. Great care has also been taken to use the best bed linen and towels, ( mainly Egyptian Cotton) and feather duvet/pillows.. (Although if you really dont like feather bedding we can soon change it to fibre bedding if you give us notice)

The room is decorated entirely in colours that reflect the Victorian Industrial era, with cosseting, co-ordinating and cosy Farrow and Ball Colours ( very soothing - no floral prints or chintz in sight !) Also In recognition of its industrial heritage It has been adorned with many restored antique artefacts that have been found around the house and land over time.

There is an en-suite shower room with quality shower gel and hand wash.

There is a mini fridge ( a decent size that can accommodate a couple of full sized bottles as well as smaller items ) full sized kettle, cafetierre, with complimentary beverages and fresh milk. There is also cutlery and crockery for two and wine, water and champagne glasses. For your entertainment there is a free view TV and so that takeaway meals and snacks can be enjoyed in the room there are two chairs and a small dining table. There is also lots of interesting books, games, maps and local information for guests to utilise. Sadly at present we are unable to offer breakfast but there are many local venues to eat, one of which can deliver the most huge but delicious Flat bread breakfast wraps. Guests are also welcome to use the cutlery/crockery in the room for barbecues.

That leads on to the outside space for the sole use of guests. THE OAK TREE GARDEN is a magical space next to the Mine Captains Office. Amongst a circle of mature oak trees you will find two hammocks with side tables next to them (essential for that nice cold drink in summer) a dining table with two chairs, a fire pit and a Kettle barbecue with tools.. The perfect spot for some relaxation amongst the sounds of nature on a hot summers day.

The accommodation also overlooks a wild Natural space with hens and geese to watch and the occasional pig in the distance (Dont worry you wont smell anything nasty) Jeremy Cluckson is our resident Cockerel and he is a COMPLETE Cock!) He does his best to look after the ladies by keeping the local foxes and badgers at bay. He does wake up early to do this and “says Good morning” but anyone staying her has remarked on how they have enjoyed the sights and sounds of nature that can be experienced from the bedroom window..

If you need a bit more help to relax and recuperate we also have an in-house Complimentary Therapist offering treatments such as lymphatic drainage, deep tissue massage, reflexology amongst many others. This of course is subject to availability and at additional cost. If you want further details of this either before or after booking, then just send a message.

For cyclists we have put an undercover cycle rack right outside the door but we can also arranged completely secure storage in one of our outbuildings if preferred.

Où se situe le logement

Horrabridge, Angleterre, Royaume-Uni

The house was once lived in by the owner and mine captain of Sortridge Copper Mine in the industrial Victorian era. The Mine Captains Office reflects this in style and decor. The area is surrounded by wonderful countryside where many fantastic walks can be had. As well as exploring the wild moorland, there are lovely riverside walks to be had and off road cycle tracks (such as Drakes Trail) nearby. The local friendly village with its pubs and famous bridge over the river Walkham was made famous in the opening credits for the childrens programme BAGPUS many years ago. Nearby Tavistock is also well worth a visit, with numerous cafes, independent shops, restaurants and pubs as well as a daily indoor Pannier market with changing goods throughout the week (apart from sundays and mondays) Further afield both the south devon and north cornwall coastline can be easily visited (journey time to many beautiful beaches around 45 - 60 minutes drive time). We are also situated close to two cities, Plymouth around 30 minutes drive (bus service also available) and Exeter 55 minutes. Truro, the Cornish capital is also a beautiful city to visit and about an hour and a half away from us. Food and drink - lots of lovely village pubs a short drive or taxi ride away and all the usual takeaway options with some doing their own home delivery (sadly the likes of deliveroo and just eat have not reached us as yet)
