Monthly Guests Only. This guest cabin is on a homestead just over the hill from Center Hill Lake/ Cove Hollow Marina. (About 1 mile). Peaceful, feels remote, yet is so close to the marina that you can hang with your houseboat friends and have a comfy place to sleep. Metal siding - very simple but nice inside. Note: cabin not overlooking lake.

Le logement
Bring on the campfire, fishing, kayaking, hiking and fun! Our little guest cabin was once a one-room, metal home with a wood stove. Now it has separate bedrooms, kitchen and bathroom. We use window units for AC and have electric or wood heat inside. There is also access to WIFI!

Cabin is one mile from Center Hill Marina in a "holler." The road is a rustic, on-lane drive.

Restaurant options in the area are limited to marina eateries nearby with limited hours, or a 30 minute drive away in Smithville or Gordonsville, so bring something to toss on the grill if you were counting on take-out!

Holler Homestead is a functioning and developing homestead/farm using regenerative practices. We use ducks and chickens for pest control and goats to "mow" the lawn. Goats as weedeaters (literally). There are honey bees - well away from the cabin. Recently, a stray pig moved in and he is helping us compost kitchen scraps and rototil a field. All this means that things do look wild here in the summer and early fall - and we like it this way because many of those "weeds" are edible and being grown for winter preservation. Feel free to ask us to point out the elderberry and other medicinals! You will likely see Nicole in the yard picking something or other.

There is a little campfire area in front of the cabin if you like sitting around a fire and a great, relaxing screened in porch. Sometimes we have a fire up by the house and if you see that, you are welcome to drop over and share it. It is neat to check out the aquaponics system up there. The fish feed the plants and the plants filter water for the fish.

Cabin is used by my mother when she is in town so there are a few personal items hung in the closet, etc., but plenty of room for more!

We have cats that might hop up on your car and dogs that are friendly.

Cleaning fee is very low because we intend to cover a quick vacuum, mop and sterilizing of the cabin, and washing the sheets and towels. Please do your best to leave the cabin tidy when you depart.

Accès des voyageurs
Guests are welcome to check out our grounds, hike in the hills during hiking season (preferably not when hunters are there), walk along the country lane, dunk in the creek, hang out by the campfire. We sell fresh eggs when the chickens or ducks are laying, as well as Holler Roast Coffee (roasted on site) and farm veggies in season.

Autres remarques
We have chickens, roosters, bees, goats, ducks and grow veggies. The rooster crows, though we keep him in the coop in the mornings when we have guests if we have enough warning.

Cabin has a Queen bed and small sofa and basic kitchen supplies. We also have dogs and some cats that are friendly - please don't let them inside.

We are in the process of enacting permaculture practices here - which means that we are encouraging edible wild plants, let our grass get tall so the ducks and goats can eat it, and much more. Things can look a bit wild as we let the plants go to seed for the coming year.

Our driveway is quite steep and has some potholes. Plan accordingly. I drive a Nissan Versa with no access problems but we have heard from guests with lowered sports cars that they prefer to avoid steep hills in their vehicles.

Our holler used to be a prime moonshining location and pieces of stills are still in the hills. The area feels very remote on out one-lane country road. Neighbors are generally friendly if they see you walking and sometimes invite people to bonfires for fun.

We are a couple who both work full time and who enjoy country living, gardening, hiking, fishing, music and fun. We roast coffee on site. Out two dogs, Sage and Cycy, are very friendly and both rescue dogs. Every cat that has ever been abandoned in this area has some how ended up at our place. We raise chickens and have a rooster or two around along with a gaggle of hens. We have been working on renovating the property and you may see us working on projects if you are in the area for the weekend.

Sometimes we interact a bunch, other times we are out of town or working on projects. If you prefer to be left to yourself, we understand. If we are cooking something yummy, we usually invite guests to try it out.
