The Great Andaman House is a 3-bedroom wooden bungalow nestled on a hilltop in Havelock Island. Surrounded by virgin forest, yet 100 meters from the road, it is peaceful and quiet, and intended for a relaxing experience away from the hustle and bustle of Havelock's touristy strip. The world famous Radhanagar Beach is barely 3 km away. A great place to chill after diving, snorkeling, fishing or beach bumming, and the property is perfect for stargazing, birdwatching and nature walks.
The house is made of Andaman wood, and is breezy, with high ceilings and lots of light. Each bedroom on the ground floor has its own wooden patio, while the master bedroom has a balcony. The bathrooms are spacious and fitted with rain showers and geysers. The kitchen is well-equipped with everything needed for home chefs.
Accès des voyageurs
Guests can access all areas. For individual rooms, please see our other listings "Room in Bungalow on Havelock Island".
Airbnb does not allow exchange of email addresses/phone numbers or other contact details before booking.
Foreign nationals need to give a copy of their passports, visas and Restricted Area Permits (available at Immigration at Port Blair Airport) to the caretakers for registration in Havelock within 12 hours of their arrival. Please check the rules for foreign nationals before your visit.
This is not a hotel. The house is self-catering, with its own well-equipped kitchen (oven, microwave, gas, fridge, pots and pans, cutlery, basic spices). Home chefs can buy their own supplies, or request the caretakers, who make a trip to the market everyday, to buy them ingredients. The caretakers can also help with the cooking. For those who do not want to cook, the local food is amazing with seafood being a specialty. No restaurant on Havelock delivers, so going out is the only option.
There is a power backup generator which the caretakers will switch on if power goes, but it will not be able to run all the ACs.
Carry a torch/flashlight everywhere you go. Being so far east, it gets dark faster than one realizes.
Come prepared for both strong sun and rain. Tropical weather can be unpredictable at times.
Carry along one good pair of shoes/boots if hiking in the forest. Be careful and watch where you go.
As the house is surrounded by forest, there might be occasional insects.
Please treat the house and the caretakers with respect.
Please read all the information given here before making a booking or inquiry.
Please take care of candles and other burning articles as the house is made of wood.
Please conserve electricity and water when not required as the islands are an Eco-friendly zone.
We have a dog, Scooter. She is the gentle guardian of the house.
For maintenance issues (like electricity, water, plumbing etc.), there are caretakers who live on the property in their own cabin. Subject to availability, we can make extra arrangements for laundry, scooter/bicycle/car rental (must have valid driving licence), diving, snorkeling, kayaking and nature walks.
