Pentraeth, Pays de Galles, Royaume-Uni

THE AREA:
Pentraeth is perfectly located with so much to explore on its doorstep. Its forest is classed as an area of outstanding beauty and is home to the enchanting and rare red squirrel. The historic maritime coastal village of Moelfre is only a 10 minute drive away; a new lifeboat station was recently opened here and you can observe one of the regularly held practice launches of the boat - a spectacular sight to behold; and if you are very lucky you will spy porpoise and seals that visit the bay. Close by is the famous Red Wharf Bay; one of Anglesey's many perfect beaches with the Ship Inn serving refreshments.

THE REGION
Where to start: the list seems endless, as North Wales has so much to offer and Anglesey is a truly beautiful island with something for everyone. Historic, pretty seaside towns such as Beaumaris and Menai are a joy to behold; miles of white sandy beaches along the coastline in places such as Benllech, Rhosneiger, and Red Wharf Bay; tucked away are the quieter corners such as Lligwy, and then there are the forests of Newborough and Pentraeth.

For children: Pili Palas Nature World is nearby, and within a 20 minute drive is Anglesey Sea Zoo; there are boat trips to Puffin Island; and there is the amazing RSPB at the South Stack Cliffs. A short drive onto the mainland will take you to Greenwood forest park - a great family day out filled with activities, and voted Best Family Attraction in North Wales for several years running.
Also on the mainland, a 30 minute drive will lead to places such as the classic seaside resort of Llandudno; the medieval town of Conwy; the university city of Bangor with the magnificent Snowdonian mountain range as it's backdrop to one side and the picturesque Menai Straits to the other. Not forgetting nearby Caernarfon - home to the famous fortress castle.
