Imagine if you will, a Hobbit Hole... tucked away in the hills of Rohan, but with the view from the White City of Gondor facing the craggy, dark mountains of Mordor! The Hobbit Inn transports you to Middle Earth in a way I only thought was possible by traveling to New Zealand. We booked our weekend at this lovely place almost a year ago because so many other hobbit enthusiasts were also excited to visit! It was so worth the wait. My husband and I were giddy when we pulled up to stay for the weekend. It is so charming, and every bit of this place oozes with thoughtful touches and surprises that are so true to theme. We were comfortable, with a gorgeous view, and a peaceful atmosphere. It is an off grid home, so you do need to be mindful of your impact in using water and power, but in that way you also understand the value and privilege we have to these utilities. Kristie and John were very helpful and responded quickly to any of our needs, and also had great recommendations for local fun and fare. Have breakfast at the RiverWalk Inn Cafe!!! Yum!!

The Hobbit Inn was by far the most magical experience we have ever had. I'm including Disney Land in this. Everything was perfect, down to each and every detail. A nerd's fantasy come true.

I'm a huge Tolkien fan, so staying in the Hobbit Inn was kind of a dream come true. We've been to the Hobbiton movie set in New Zealand, but you can't really go in the Hobbit Holes there because they're not finished inside. So, it was magical to spend a night in what felt like a real Hobbit home. Recommend bringing your favorite book or reading one of the books at the inn (including The Hobbit) while you're there. The attention to detail was fantastic. Everything was perfect.

Kristie's place was such a magical experience. You felt like you were really living as a hobbit..... From the location tucked away in the mountains with incredible views, to the precise attention to detail in and around the hobbit hole. What an awesome place. If you're a fan of Lord of the Rings, or just love the idea of living off the grid for a few days, I highly suggest staying here!

As just about everyone else has said, the Hobbit Inn was such a unique and great stay. Kristie selected the perfect location for her Hobbit Inn, her attention to detail was impressive (she's very creative!), and she and her crew of family/friends/contractors/artist(s) did an amazing job of building the Hobbit Inn! The place was very clean, and we were impressed that all of the flowers inside and out on the patio were so healthy & vibrant, especially considering the potential difficulty in maintaining a place in a location like this (25 minutes out of Chelan and 2.5 miles up a dirt/dusty road); her caretakers do an amazing job! I highly recommend experiencing the Hobbit Inn! One recommendation I have is to bring a camp stove, cookware, and eating utensils. We did run out of power our first morning and had to wait until about noon for the solar system to recharge enough to make our coffee. The Hobbit Inn is on a hill facing more or less north, and so this time of year (fall), the sun doesn't shine on the solar panel until mid-late morning. I would save your power for lights and use a camp stove for making hot beverages. Also, once we arrived, my wife and I didn't want to leave to go into Chelan and eat (the place is so relaxing!), so we wished we had brought a cooler and food to cook. We did eat at some of Kristie's recommended restaurants/cafes, and they were good recommendations.

The Hobbit Hut is beautifully designed and decorated. There are so many lovely details, from the wooden sink to the stone fireplace to the fresh flowers by the bed. The light over the bed was most certainly made by hobbits. It's magic!

Aloha,

I am a proud Idaho woman who is passionate about living simply. I hand built a tiny 97 sq ft home out of sustainable materials several years ago and still live there today. In the winter of 2013 / 2014 I fulfilled a life long dream of building my very own treehouse that now I get to share with ya'll.
