“The New River wraps around this park and winds through some of the best North Carolina mountain scenery. The park offers paddling access and primitive, canoe-in camping is available at downstream access areas. Brief trips or multi-day excursions can be arranged with private outfitters or careful planning if visitors bring kayaks or canoes. It’s easy to combine paddling, camping, fishing, picnicking and wildlife viewing. A visitor center with exhibit hall complements interpretive programs on the river’s history and ecology, and a community building can be rented for family or group gatherings.”

“A great park along the South Fork of the New River for fishing, canoeing, tubing, picnics, camping, etc. Appropriate for all ages. There are several canoe/tubing outfitters along the South Fork of the river that can haul visitors and equipment upstream or downstream to experience the river.”

“Set along the edge of the Blue Ridge Plateau, E.B. Jeffress Park offers a picnic area and restrooms, great hiking and a gorgeous waterfall as well as being home to the historic Jesse Brown Cabin, an African-American farmer and preacher, and his Cool Springs Baptist Church. The Cascade Trail follows Falls Creek to where the creek plunges over a bare-rock cliff face. These falls are called ‘The Cascades’ and are one of the key attractions in this area. The Cascades are easily accessible via a short hiking trail from the overlook parking lot. A great spot for photos!”
