“Two of our guests drove up to Apple Hill Farm in Banner Elk in August, 2019, and absolutely LOVED it! They said it was definitely worth the drive. Banner Elk is beautiful mountain country, and if you love animals, getting out in the country, and being in nature, then this is the day trip for you! Tours daily mid-May to mid-October. Open Oct-May with fewer tours and shorter store hours.”

“Distance from INDIGO: 37 miles Level: Easy to Moderate Length of Trail: 1.6 miles out and back Lots of tourist traffic but once you get up to Erwin's View the traffic thins out. Beautiful Views! ”

“Check out the Falls Trail that starts from the Rec Center or hike/bike the Emerald Mountain Outback. Day passes at the rec center are only $3/person. They have an indoor playroom for young kids (rainy days!), basketball, tennis, pickleball courts, weightroom, etc. The facility is adjacent to a lake, and you can check out canoes and fishing equipment. The Town of Beech Mountain participates in a special program where you can get a 3-day fishing license for only $5 to fish within town limits. ”

“The most incredible view possible. I absolutely love this trail! It has views in every direction, private places to sit and hang, and it relatively short (although very steep). Trail is in the Linville Gorge, in Morganton area. ”
