Historic Site
“Magellan's Cross (Spanish: Cruz de Magallanes, Tagalog: Krus ni Magallanes) is a Christian cross planted by Portuguese and Spanish explorers as ordered by Ferdinand Magellan upon arriving in Cebu in the Philippines on (depending on source) 16 (U.S. date) or 17(Philippines date) March 1521.This cross is housed in a chapel next to the Basilica Menor del Santo Niño on Magallanes Street, just in front of the city center of Cebu City. A sign below the cross states that the original cross is encased inside the wooden cross made of tingalo wood. This is to protect the original cross from people who chipped away parts of the cross for souvenir purposes in the belief that the cross possesses miraculous powers. Some people, however, believe that the original cross has been destroyed or disappeared after Magellan's death and the cross is a replica that was planted there by the Spaniards after they successfully christianized the Philippines.”

“There’s plenty of history to be seen in Cebu City, and Fort San Pedro is one such historic location. First built as a wooden fort around 1565, the current structure is a triangular bastion fort that has been around since 1738. Nowadays, Fort San Pedro no longer houses soldiers but a museum, an open-air theater, and the Cebu office of the Department of Tourism. If you’re looking to be transported back to colonial times, Fort San Pedro is the place to go. Type: Tourist attraction Location: A. “Located in Acacia Street in Kamputhaw, House of Lechon specializes in Carcar-style lechon. As you may probably know, the regional differences in the Philippines encompass even our cuisine—and even at the province level, each city or municipality has a different version of local dishes. If you have been to Carcar, you will see lechon being sold in the markets, where vendors chop the freshly-prepared roast and put on some of the drippings before presenting it to you. Now you don't have to go to Carcar to taste this version of lechon.”
