Centre commercial
“A visit to Charlottesville isn't complete without a stop at the Downtown Mall, one of the most beautiful and successful pedestrian malls in the nation. Ours contains a vibrant collection of more than 120 shops and 30 restaurants (many with outdoor cafés) housed in the historic buildings on and around old Main Street. Ice skate, enjoy a movie or play, or simply relax under magnificent oak trees along the red-bricked mall. Convenient parking in nearby garages makes a visit easy for guests of all ages.”

University
“The university that TJ built. We are not biased or anything, but it’s the best university in the world. (We understand there are arguments for and against this claim.) But, truly, if you haven’t visited UVA, you should. The Lawn and Rotunda are historic and you’ll find them very beautiful and interesting, whether or not you are a ‘Hoo. Bring a picnic and a frisbee and hang out on the Lawn, gazing at the architectural genius of our third President. When you’re done, walk down to The Corner and enjoy the used bookstores, tons of restaurants and coffee shops, and soak in the vibe of this vibrant college town. We love Roots (yummy healthy bowls), Asado Wing/Taco, Boylan Heights (grass-fed burgers), and Mellow Mushroom for pizza.”

“Spanish Tapas, great menu, amazing outdoor patio on pretty evenings. Great place to grab a pre-dinner drink and appetizers (the bacon-wrapped dates are to die for), or to settle in for dinner.”

If you are not in the mood for a bagel then try their salad and/or soups. Do not be intimidated by the lines as they move very quickly. A sure palate pleaser and the price is right!!! ”

“This is another one my favorite brunch/lunch spot. Great lattes, amazing food. Pastries are out of this world. Think authentic pain au chocolat, almond croissants... not light in calories, but definitely worth it.”

“Yum, yum, yum. Light, sophisticated Italian- with an amazing wine list. Widely considered one of Charlottesville's best restaurants. Doesn't take reservations and gets crowded, so go early for dinner, or put your name in and head to the patio at Mas for a pre-dinner drink.”

Restaurant de Burgers

“On the historic downtown pedestrian mall. Huge booths inside to accommodate board games or drawing pads, plus a row of TVs over the bar (not turned on loud, so it isn’t distracting if you don’t care about sports) set to every imaginable type of sporting event will keep kids happy. The burgers (they have an amazing veggie burger and a paleo option as well) are great, and the service is quick and friendly. Great outdoor seating on the downtown Pedestrian mall.”

College Academic Building
“Go see UVA- particularly the Rotunda and the Lawn. The Rotunda is beautiful and awe-inspiring, and it stands at the head of a gorgeous stretch of old trees and lawn perfect for kids to run around and play frisbee while you attempt to interest them in the myriad architectural styles Thomas Jefferson integrated into the collection of grand faculty homes and student rooms that line The Lawn. Then walk down to The Corner District to soak up the undergrad vibe- there’s tons of eateries and shops. You can pick up some UVA gear at Mincer’s.”

“Pizza - the best ever! They brought their own wood-fired pizza oven that had to be lifted and brought through the roof. They serve other deliciousness like meatballs, salads, sandwiches, apps. Located in the revitalized Belmont area.”
