Plaza
“Esplanade and Liston, Between the Old Town and the old fortress" is the esplanade, a long green square that is a remnant of the Venetian fortifications in the 17th century. During the French occupation of Corfu at the turn of the 19th century the esplanade was planted with trees, while the cricket pitch is a holdover from the British period that followed. Also dating to that time is the Maitland Monument, a Neoclassical peristyle, with 20 Ionic columns around a rotunda, commemorating the Lord High Commissioner Thomas Maitland. The Liston, on the Esplanade’s western boundary is an elegant arcade, also from the French period and designed in the style of the Rue de Rivoli in Paris. ”

Cave
“This wonderful cave system is situated just off the Argostoli to Sami road to the south of Sami and close to the village of Chaliotata. The cave has been open to tourists since 1963. It is reputedly 40km deep but you cannot explore all of it. There is one large cavern that is about 1,000 square feet and has often hosted concerts and operas due to its fantastic acoustics.”

Water Park
“Aqualand Corfu is the island’s biggest and most popular water park and offers themed zones catering for all ages, carefully watched over by qualified lifeguards. Stretching over an area of 130,000 sq ft (12,000 sq m) landscaped with lawns and mature maple trees, it is a family paradise of water rides and slides, lazy rivers and 15 swimming pools for a day of fun in the sun. Toddlers up to the age of four can enjoy shallow bathing pools with water showers, playing splashy games on Fantasy Island and exploring the Caribbean Pirate Adventure Pool. There’s a dedicated family area (kids must be aged eight and over) with giant slides, Jacuzzis, a lazy river and a wave pool. Adrenaline junkies can get their kicks from six extreme water ride ranging from the spiraling Hydrotube to the hair-raising Free Fall Plus, which plunges vertically for 80 ft (24 m) into deep water. Facilities include plenty of free sunbeds and parasols for shade and lockers to hire for a small charge of €5; there are changing rooms and showers as well as food outlets scattered throughout the park and stores selling sun lotion, rubber rings and pool toys.”

Natural Feature
“The most beautiful beach of Zakynthos and one of the most photographed beaches of all Greece. Accessible only by sea, it gives you the idea of hugeness and perfection. It consists of millions of small pebbles with the blue shades of the sea as far as the eye can see, it results unique in its gender and the relict looks like if it was made by an artist. Waters around Navagio often have electric light blue colour because of the numerous sulphurous caves around the beach and when the sea is rising a large quantity of sulphur radiates, giving the possibility of taking beautiful pictures. To visit the beach, a part from the numerous tours of the island, it is possible, from Aghios Nikolaos, to get the daily taxi-boat offered by the local boats. We suggest visiting Navagio in the morning since in the afternoon the sea tends to become bigger and may cause problems to get back.”

“Possibly one of the busier areas of Corfu Island, Sidari has a little gem that you should definitely see. Just shy of the town itself (to the west) is Canal d’Amour, one of Corfu’s most unique spots. Local folklore says that couples that swim through the channel will get married very soon, making it a perfect spot if you’re waiting for someone to pop the question! ”

“It is one of the most hidden places and maybe for this reason more beautiful and wild of the entire island. To get there you have to pass through the mountains village of Agios Leon and from there following the signs, driving down a recently asphalted road running down to the sea and ending in a small square where you can park. From there getting down a few steps carved in the rock, you reach a real fiord stupefying the visitor for the clearness and colours of the waters. It is easy to imagine that in this place there are no many tourist facilities, only recently two terraces with loungers and umbrellas have been created but are not always enough for the request. For those who really care about caves it is worth visiting the first one just getting down the steps; once there and in the water you understand that the cave is to continue … but only for those who love extreme sports. We suggest to everybody and especially those who have their own boat, to visit Porto Roxa that is only 3 km from Porto Limnionas. It is another small bay with a slipway to put boats in the water in an exceedingly beautiful part of coast.”
