“Old Jaffa Port (also known as Namal Yafo) was the ancient port of the city of Jaffa, out of which modern day Tel Aviv has grown. The Old Jaffa Port is reputed to be one of the oldest ports in the world, notably being the port from which Jonah set off in the famous Biblical story of Jonah and the Whale. Its long and fascinating history as strategic port in the Eastern Mediterranean continued until only recently when new ports were built south of Tel Aviv in Ashdod and north in Haifa, to cater for modern-day shipping methods. Today the port is used largely by local fishermen who continue the centuries old tradition of the area.”

“HATACHANA (In Hebrew: "התחנה") A train station on the Jaffa-Jerusalem line, located between the sea shore and the Neveh Zedek neighborhood, operated from 1892 to 1948. This was the first railway line between Little Asia and Egypt and the first means of transportation to replace the camel as the mode of transport for heavy loads taken over long distances. Today, the railway station complex covers an area of 20 dunams, with 22 buildings from various periods, which have been carefully restored. Inside the complex are restaurant shops and more. The station complex includes, among other things, the buildings of the historic train station, the Templar Willand family and its factory. ”

“When you visit Jaffa (Yafo), this is the place to go to get a taste of typical Arab/Middle Eastern food. As you sit down, the waiters will bring you at least 10 little dishes with all kinds of salads, hummus, pita bread, etc. And if you choose the salads as your main meal, they will keep coming and replacing your empty dishes. So it's like a bottomless salad bar :) Of course, you can also order fish and meat here. ”

“Situated in Jaffa's port with breathtaking dock views and the salty fragrance of the sea, this restaurant and bar serves seasonal seafood and fish. Brunch it up with the hearty ‘shakshuka’ (eggs cooked in tomato sauce) or munch on the calamari in a slightly sweet orange and chili sauce. Check out their website for details about evening shows. ”
