  • Beautiful location very close to downtown. It was great being 10 minutes from downtown, yet secluded in the tree house high above Portland. Lance is great and very accommodating. I would definitely stay here again!

    Chelsea2015-04-12T00:00:00Z
  • Lance was an awesome host with a beautiful home. The view of the sunrise was amazing and the room was very cozy. Perfect distance from downtown not too far but not too close. Would definitely recommend staying here for an unforgettable time in Portland. And oh yea the coffee in the morning was a nice touch!

    Nick2015-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • Lance was great! Very helpful and friendly. Me and my friend had a great time at his place. I would definitely recommend lances home, for the fact of the view, how close, but far enough from downtown Portland and the privacy Lance gave while in his home.

    Skylar2016-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • Lance was such an awesome host! We sadly only had one short nice in his home, but our stay in his home was the highlight of our entire month-long trip across the country. He took the time to show us the ins and out of his home, which truly is an architectural marvel. The views alone are to die for. Thanks again, Lance! We will surely be back!!!

  • An amazing house up in the hills with a great view out over Portland. Lance is a great host - very thoughtful and hospitable. You will need a car if planning to stay here, but it is highly recommended.

  • Great house with an awesome view of Portland. Lance was very accommodating. We had a great time!

    Myles2016-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • Lance's home is the single most spectacular view of Portland and the unique architecture should not be missed! Lance was very kind. We had a scheduling glitch that he was able to fix quickly!

    Kelly2015-05-08T00:00:00Z
  • This is my second review, because after renting the treehouse for two nights I quickly decided to add another night! (I would have added two more nights but the treehouse was already booked the 4th night we were in Portland and we had to stay somewhere WAY less cool, womp womp!) We can't wait to come back to this wonderful treehouse! Seriously, do not stay in a lame hotel! Stay at Lance's place, you will NOT regret it!

  • Chris was very welcoming. The cottage is in a very serene setting and we enjoyed sitting by the pond with a nice cup of tea. The neighborhood is lovely and it's a short walk to Division St...full of great restaurants and fun and unique places!

    Rick2016-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is as charming as it looks! We stayed in the middle of the winter, and it was warm and comfortable. One of the most unique AirBnBs we have stayed in, and so close to everything on Division.

    Jonathan2017-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely private room in Portland! The listing is accurate and I would recommend staying here.

  • Wonderful cottage in quiet location close to restaurants in Clinton- Division neighborhood.

    Margo2017-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Really cool backyard cob structure in a quiet neighborhood within walking distance of restaurants and shops. Very clean, exactly as described, with a comfortable bed. Met my needs perfectly, and the hosts were very friendly.

  • Jack & Cris have an amazing property. I loved the artsy cobb cottage!! The yard is pretty and the bed was super comfortable. Nice accommodations~ the bathroom needed tidying up upon my arrival but they worked quickly to remedy that. I would recommend this to anyone that loves a magical place to stay!

    Alexandra2017-05-03T00:00:00Z
  • This was our first time to visit Portland and also our very first Airbnb experience. The city was a blast and staying in Jack and Cris's quaint cottage was so much fun. We especially enjoyed the lovely outdoor seating area with a private pond and the company of friendly cats. You will find tons of great restaurants, coffee roasters and boutique shops within walking distance. The host was friendly and recommended some great spots for us to hit up during our stay. I would highly recommend this spot!

  • Andrée was exceedingly accommodating and hospitable from our arrival to our departure. Her listing impeccably describes the studio, which I would recommend to anyone interested in visiting Portland. Its location provides convenient access to public transportation all around the city, and the surrounding neighborhood contains many opportunities for activities, be it dinner, a walk around Woodlawn Park, or a drink at the Oregon Public House.

    Tyler2016-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • While the weather in Portland was chilly and damp, Andere's hospitality, and the coziness of her backyard oasis made for a comfortable stay. No matter where one looked on the inside of this brightly painted retreat, one saw something beautiful and creative, with a story all it's own. The host was available, and offered great advice on where to dine locally.

    Caroline2015-04-09T00:00:00Z
  • This place is really clean, cozy and has lovely decor, I felt very at home and safe in this space. Andree was wonderful and left coffee and bananas for me in the morning. The bus is close by and easy to find but it is about a 30 min commute to downtown Portland. -Alison

  • This is an awesome and unique place to stay. It has everything you need and you'll be wanting to how everyone the funky place you're staying in while in PDX. Andée is very accommodating and helpful. There's a mini cafe/grocery store 2 blocks away called P's & Q's that I can't recommend enough either. Would totally stay here again!

  • Wonderful host! She was very welcoming and gave us great recommendations on where to eat in the surrounding area. There are quite a few restaurants in just walking distance. The space was very comfortable, cozy, and ideal. Definitely would recommend this space!

  • Bob and Sue are extremely gracious, thoughtful and welcoming hosts. We were given a tour of their historic home, which was being prepared for Christmas complete with an enormous tree in the living room. The apartment was impeccably clean and totally furnished with everything you might need for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. The home is located in an historic section of Portland, close to downtown and with lots of great restaurants and shopping nearby. We very much enjoyed our stay and would love to visit again! Many thanks to Bob and Sue for providing such a wonderful accommodation and for being such great hosts!

  • Sue was out of town when we arrived in Portland, but Bob was extremely helpful and welcoming. The house was absolutely beautiful and had everything we'd need over a three day stay. The W/D was especially helpful as we'd been on the road a few days. Nothing but good things to say about the home and Bob and it comes highly recommended.

  • Right from the start Bob, Sue and Snowball were so incredibly warm and welcoming. We honestly couldn't as for better hosts. What a great place to stay! Very clean and cozy with all your basic needs and amenities. They were sure to give us the low down on the gorgeous surrounding neighborhood, as well as tips on great hiking trails and yummy restaurants to dine at. There is tons of stuff to do nearby! Portland is a magical place made even more special by the care and comfort provided by these hosts. We will ABSOLUTELY be back! Thank you again!

    Ryan2016-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful house. Bob and Sue were super friendly and gave a tour of this historic brick house.... The house was built in 1923 by a brick company to showcase its selection of 25 types of bricks and brick patterns. Many of these styles can be seen on the house, today.....

    Mike2017-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • What is there to say that the previous reviews haven't already said? Bob & Sue are wonderful hosts and they made us feel right at home. They pay attention to all the little details, and the apartment was furnished with plenty of little touches that helped us feel like we never left our house.

  • The studio was perfect for our stay in Portland. Loved the nearby coffee shops and running through the neighborhood. Studio was clean and check-in was easy. The neighborhood guide was also super helpful!

    Nicole2017-06-16T00:00:00Z
  • Great stay! The room looked exactly like the photos and the bed was super comfy! Nestled in a very cute, tree lined neighborhood that is very walkable and close to public transportation. Was a great home base from which to explore Portland.

    Emily2015-06-15T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment was nice and clean. It was easy access from the freeway and to Downtown, nearly a 10-minute drive everywhere I went. The neighborhood was very nice, close to amenities (good coffee!) and safe. I was also able to park out front every day with no issue. The apartment itself is a studio and has two entrances, one from the main door and one off the driveway. The bed is comfy and it also has a couch, small kitchen and small bathroom. My only note is about dogs. Unless your dogs are super trained for apartments, I'm not sure it's the best bet. Jason was super accommodating but the unit is on the very front of the house. This means you can (or rather your dogs) hear everyone walking in/out the main door, anyone out front and anyone in and out of the driveway. My dogs will bark when they hear noises and then stop, but I was concerned they would bother other guests so ended up keeping them with me the entire time.

  • Jason's place is located in a beautiful neighborhood. We rented a car for our stay and was amazed by all the interesting houses in the area. Very quiet neighborhood. Check-in was a breeze and everything suited our needs for our stay. Would consider staying here again if we were ever back in the Portland area.

  • This was one of our best Airbnb experiences to date! Laurel and Brian's apartment is full of light and has everything you need, including a supremely comfortable bed. We loved the neighborhood and enjoyed walking/biking to many of our favorite restaurants in Portland. It was easy to coordinate our details with Laurel, and she went out of her way to meet us and welcome us in person, which was so nice. Overall, it was a perfect getaway weekend, and we would gladly stay with them again!

  • Laurel and Brian's guest house was fantastic! I stayed there for a long weekend with two other friends and it was the perfect size. It fit us comfortably and it was super clean. It was also in a great location, right off of SE Division street which gave us access to great restaurants and bars. I would highly recommend staying here when traveling to Portland.

    Brittany2016-11-14T00:00:00Z
  • Laurel and Brian's place was exactly as described. Super easy, flexible check-in. The place was quiet and spacious for two people. And, they left great coffee for the full stay. Great location within walking distance to Hawthorne and Division for good shopping, food and coffee. Would recommend to others.

  • Tim communicated well with us prior to our arrival and it was easy to locate the building and our room. The room was a little noisy since it's right on MLK Blvd., but Tim was kind enough to provide us with a fan for our room when we requested it.

  • Timothy is a warm and professional host who respects your privacy and is around when you need him. We had never stayed in an Airbnb before and it was a fantastic experience staying in his beautiful house. Would go back.

  • Enjoyed the stay here in Portland. Parked my car and never turned it on until I was leaving due to the great location. Nice walk to Burnside on the east side of the river, Moda Center, etc. Bring your good walking shoes, but it is worth it.

    Joseph2016-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • Great location and great host. Close to everything and Tim is a great host.

    Luke2016-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place to stay. It is very similar to a hostel with several private rooms with a shared bath and shower. Very comfortable beds. Laundry! The outside deck is wonderful with lots of bamboo, vegetation and relaxation. Go across the alley to Bushel and Peck Bake Shop for breakfast or lunch!

  • Tim was very accommodating. The space was well thought and and perfect for the long weekend

    Aaron2015-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Tim was a very nice and welcoming host! He answered many questions I have about Portland, and this place is definitely worth staying if you do not mind taking the bus to take the MAX or the Portland Streetcar.

  • This air B&B is located in NE Portland not far from many eateries and shops but I would recommend renting a car if you can to explore the city further. The bathrooms are shared but very convenient and clean. I would recommend room 202 that's where we stayed and it was lovely and spacious. Thanks again Timothy!

In the heart of Portland's Northwest 23rd District, our place is nestled close to some of Portland's finest shops & cafes - Salt & Straw Ice cream, Bamboo Sushi, Papa Haydn, Barista, and Fireside to name a few. The apartment has become a "destination" in itself due to the amazing natural light & Scandinavian interior design - even garnering its own hashtag on Instagram (#theaptupstairs). "The Apartment Upstairs" is perfect for couples, urban adventurers, and creative travelers.
Private bedroom outfitted with luxury Portuguese linen, plush Turkish cotton towels, waffle knit robes & slippers, & alpaca wool throws from our friends over at Parachute Home. All room decor and artwork done by fellow Portland & Los Angeles creatives.
  • The Apartment Upstairs is exactly as posted. It not only ticks all the right boxes (great location - I preferred the neighbourhood than staying right in the middle of downtown, clean and spacious) but with the apartment being such an incredible space and Ben being so welcoming and friendly, it really has its own X-factor in the experience. I had what was possibly my best airbnb stay. I would highly recommend the Apartment Upstairs and will definitely be back next time I'm in Portland.

    Simon2017-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Benjamin was a great host. He greeted us on the doorstep with a smile and even helped us with our luggage. The room (and whole apartment) was beautiful, clean and in a very convenient location. He gave us a list of must-do things in Portland and was able to answer all our questions. I would definitely stay at The Apt Upstairs again!

    Kathryn2016-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Great room is an amazing suburb, with everything you need in walking distance. Would definitely recommend and stay again.

    Georgie2017-06-26T00:00:00Z
  • Extremely clean and artistic place. Great apt mates and perfect central location in Portland. Benjamin was highly responsive and even checked in on me during my stay just in case I needed anything. I highly recommend the Apt Upstairs if you are visiting Portland.

  • Great location in the Nob Hill area of NW Portland's "Alphabet" District. Excellent restaurants and shops are near by and the street car service to downtown and the airport was very convenient. This neighborhood has charm! Our room was clean and our host was helpful. Parking a car can be challenging but we used the street car to get around.

    Rebecca2017-06-20T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great location! Everything you could ever want in walking distance. Great hosts. I would highly recommend the upstairs apartment.

  • By far one of my favorite places I've stayed in. Highly recommend! Will book again in the future. Everything was as described. The pictures don't do this place justice.

  • The room is exactly how it is described. Conveniently close to both downtown and the airport. We will definitely be staying here again on our next trip to Portland. Kim & Doug were great host.

    Martinez2017-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • I absolutely loved this Kim & Dougs guesthouse! The comfort, the space, the brick. Everything about this place was peaceful! The amenities made personal by having homemade biscotti! So good! When I did have a chance to speak with Kim she was an absolute delight, even let me borrow a magazine with information about a location I was trying to go hiking at! It helped so much! Thanks for that! I would recommend this location to everyone I know! And I would love to stay there again! Thanks for everything Kim & Doug!

    Mark-Anthony2017-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • This place was amazing! Kim was welcoming and every detail was accounted for in the space. It is very quiet and relaxing. The outside area is fantasy c if the weather is nice. We would definitely stay here again. And is not that far from downtown and some other great neighborhoods nearby. Enjoy your stay!

    Eric2016-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful. There small cottage-esque space lovely. The furnishings are fun and has everything one needs. The space is VERY clean. Kim was very friendly and easy to contact for check in. I would definitely stay with them again. The location was great for me - I ran the Columbia Gorge half - so easy to travel to the race and close to downtown. Downtown parking not too expensive so I didn't mind. Great place and price!

    Melanie2016-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • Kim & Doug always responded to my emails quickly and the communication was easy. The decor of the guesthouse sold me!

  • Everything about this Cape Cod Cottage was perfect. There were four of us (2 couples) and the home was exactly what we needed. It was wicked clean, super handy in proximity to our family needs and really a top notch spot. I reached out a couple of times with specific questions and James was so quick in his response and very careful not to over promise. In fact he OVER DELIVERED. I was a bit concerned about the beds and they were both very comfortable! I was worried about one bathroom for four of us but for the price it was just fine. The kitchen was equipped with every possible thing we needed to cook our meals. In a nutshell, it was perfect and we WILL return. My hope is to return in the summer to take full advantage of the beautiful backyard! Thanks so much for making our Lake Oswego stay extremely enjoyable!!

  • The cutest and cleanest Airbnb we’ve had thus far! Super cozy, quaint, clean- wish we had more time there :) The heat does not get into the rooms that great but there are 2 space heaters that do the job perfectly!

  • Sweet little cottage within walking distance to downtown Lake Oswego. I sometimes feel a bit disappointed in the cleanliness of rentals, but this cottage was immaculate! It had everything we needed for a weekend trip to visit our (EMAIL HIDDEN)fy clean bed, peaceful, safe, convenient location. We'll be back next time we head to Portland.

  • Such a nice neighborhood and such a great home away from home!

    Amanda2017-12-04T00:00:00Z
  • James and Carol's place is a nice home on a large lot about a mile outside of downtown. The home is nicely equipped with a desk and plenty of storage. The kitchen, save for the sugar ant infestation that we eliminated while we were there, was great. A few minor annoyances and one serious irritation drew away from what was otherwise a nice home. The floors in the living room have an intense high pitched squeak If this bothers you I'd look elsewhere for lodging as it's an issue anywhere you walk in the hardwood covered area. The beds are quite firm and there no toppers or otherwise provided. The serious irritation we had was backing down a pitch black driveway at night. There were two large concrete pillars hiding in the hedges...which we found with the bumper of our Prius. During our accident conversation, I was taken aback when he made a point to ask us for a "good review". A note about internet, the 5Ghz wifi drops off and on. We found the 2.4 worked much more reliably.

    Samantha2017-11-19T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful neighborhood and a quaint and cozy cottage. Due to the age of the house heat in the bedrooms is a bit of an issue. The hosts have provided space heaters which helps some. Overall it’s a lovely experience!

  • Love Lake Oswego! It is an upscale Mayberry. This location is very convenient to downtown and restaurants. Staying above a bar could be considered a benefit. For me, I didn't care for the noise (base thrumming and trivia night, I could almost fully hear the questions). Things quieted down around 10 (my visit was weeknights) The place was highly upgraded and super clean. I would recommend if the noise won't bother you!

    Paula2017-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • What a great spot! - The apartment was big, the kitchen gorgeous (And I'm a chef) and the location can't be beat. Nola Donuts across the street, awesome bar downstairs (Not loud in the apartment, even with live music). And the team at the Bar were great too! Next time we're in the Portland area (and we go at least once a year) we'll look it up again! * And the host was very easy to communicate with. - We had a problem with the coffee maker - and one was delivered that night!

  • Thanks for a great stay. The place was wonderful. Nice attention to detail and loved the little extras. The check-in and check-out process was easy, seamless with detailed and accurate information. We loved the location and the place had all the amenities that we needed for a comfortable stay in Portland. The place was spacious with a lot of unique little details that made the place very special.

  • What a Lovely decorated apartment that offered fun functional space for our family to dance, sing and play family games. We had a great time because we did not have to worry about making too much noise or playing music too loud! This is a great space for a loud family! In addition, the unique décor really adds a quaint ambience to the apartment that makes you feel comfortable and at home in the space. The kitchen was awesome and very well stocked with equipment to cook or even bake. We made dinner every night for each other. Also, the local area is very cute to explore to see the lake, local shops, visit a pub or a local coffee shop or the French bakery. There are several local pubs, restaurants and cute boutiques in the area to visit. Sean and Chantel were great hosts that left us a bottle of bubbly to greet us on New Year’s Eve and made sure we had great coffee to take the chill off in the cold mornings. I highly recommend this apartment to loud guest with older families that do not mind the bar below the apartment. We had a great time and will be back!

  • We went to Portland to spend the holidays with my daughter and family. We had 4 generations and the accommodations were perfect. Plenty of room for all of us to have our own space but at the same time, plenty of room to eat/play games and be together. We cooked our favorite holiday meals (lots of prep) and the kitchen was well equipped. Vernon went over the top with his hospitality...we even had a small Christmas tree!

  • Vernon/Ashley were great hosts. They went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. I am staying again with them on my next trip to Portland.

  • Vernon's home was clean, comfortable, up to date, and a great fit for five work colleagues to stay together. We were easily able to make meals in the well-stocked kitchen.

  • Vernon is a great host and he had a beautiful home. It was clean and clutter free. He had all the amenities to enjoy the week living and eating mainly in the home. He was quick to respond with questions and provided clear arrival instructions. I highly recommend his place!

  • I’m a critical person in general, but I can’t think of one negative thing I could say about Vernon and his place. 10/10 can’t wait to come back!!!

  • Vernon's place was as described. He greeted us and was available to answer any questions we had. The location provided the access we wanted to Portland while still enjoying the quietness of a neighborhood. Although our stay was during the time of the "heatwave" (i.e. 90+ degree highs), Vernon provided window air conditioners and fans to keep the home comfortable. The house was beautiful. Vernon did a wonderful job with the remodel.

    Cynthia2017-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed in Vernon's home as a multi-generational family for a small family reunion of sorts. The home was so well appointed, with a fully functional kitchen, beautifully designed living areas and bedrooms, and a lovely deck that we drank coffee on each morning. It is very easy to get to, and is in a quiet neighborhood at the south end of Portland. Vernon was always timely and informative in all of his communications. We hope to stay here again in the future!

  • Lovely venue about 25 min from downtown but felt like home after a day of activities. Beautiful garden cottage with lovely flowers all around. Lots of room with upstairs bedroom and basement bedroom. Washer and dryer a plus. Nice porch to sit and read. There is some street noise during rush hours but setting felt quiet despite that. If you do not need to be in city center and want to feel like your at home I would pick this.

    Mark2017-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • Shaun's place is a storybook cottage at the foot of a storybook garden. The house is a sweet little cottage with wood floors, big windows and a deck to enjoy. It's near a busy street so you do hear traffic when you're on the deck but it's barely audible from the inside! Even being right by a busy road it feels like you're in your own wooded haven. It's clean and well appointed. I highly recommend this gem!

    Derek 2017-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a very nice stay. Shaun was extremely hospitable and easy to contact. The cottage was neat and clean and the setting was quite lovely. There are steps and a sloped path to the cottage that were a little tricky to navigate with large suitcases, but not enough to be a problem. Close to Portland, Mt. Hood and wineries to make it a great location, but still felt like we were away from the hustle and bustle.

    Karen2017-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful, private oasis yet convenient to L&C, a state park with walking trails, restaurants, a great grocery store, and easy access to downtown Portland. The guesthouse was cozy, yet had a spacious feel with the two levels, and great views thru the many windows. It was a wonderful place to regroup after visiting the bustling, vibrant neighborhoods of Portland. Shaun was welcoming and friendly, and Princeton, her wonderful yellow lab, made us feel like we were his favorite humans. A great place to stay while visiting Portland.

    Sue2017-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying at Shaun's! She was so attentive and yet not overbearing at all. Our girls fell in love with her huge back yard, picking blueberries and looking out the window from the occasional visit from her dog. The house itself is beautiful and clean. The kitchen was a huge plus for me, our kids loved having their own room and beds. It was also a huge help to be able to do laundry on site. The house was much larger than we anticipated, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. My toddler even cried when we had to leave! Shaun really outdid herself on this property. Thank you!

Come relax in our quiet mid-century cabin style home with lots of character! Enjoy the sunny yoga/music room with skylights, sitting by the fireplace, mature green space (with friendly chickens :), hammock, short walk to the river, and easy access to Portland and the light rail.
Our guest room is small but charming, with white-washed knotty pine walls, a large closet, and a private window. Very comfortable double bed.
Our neighborhood is very quiet and friendly. It is well situated close to the Willamette River and the Trolley Trail, which is great for walking/running/biking. It's just a short 10 minute walk to Elk Rock Island as well. We are 1 mile from downtown Milwaukie which has a few good restaurants and bars, a new food cart pod, and a lovely farmers' market- and it's a nice 20 minute walk along the river (or 1 stop away on the light rail) to get there! Our home is 1 mile from a great Fred Meyer grocery store with a large natural food section, or about 3 miles to one of Portland's excellent local natural food stores, New Seasons (Sellwood location).
  • Wow we had such lovely time staying with Alexis and Aaron! They were so welcoming and we felt right at home there. We especially loved the beautiful, freshly-cut flowers in our room, the wonderful smoothies they made for us, and the time they took to talk with and get to know us. Also during our stay they were caring for some baby chicks who were especially adorable. ;)

    Leah2015-04-05T00:00:00Z
  • My experience in Portland was great and part of it was having a great airbnb experience. Aaron & Alexis, as hosts, were highly exceptional. The house was open and inviting. Full access to everything. Personal interaction and personal space were perfectly intertwined. Personal touches were prevalent everywhere as well. I don't know what words to really say, but that it just felt right as everything flowed so smoothly. Not a hitch. For my first airbnb experience, I couldn't have asked for anything more. Heads up, thumbs up.

    Jay2015-04-13T00:00:00Z
  • Alexis and Aaron were amazingly cool hosts and their listing was so beautiful! I really loved the separation of space between the guest side and the host side of the house. It really gave it a much more private feel. Maggi the cat is totally sweet as well. The smoothies in the morning are to die for. They even put up a screen and projector so we could watch movies. Overall, this was a totally awesome experience, and I would love to come back again and get to hang out with these welcoming hosts again!

    Jay 2015-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Aaron and Alexis were extremely courteous, friendly and accommodating hosts. They have an extremely clean and neat home with lots of light and an open floor plan surrounded by beautiful gardens. Their home is convenient to downtown and other areas of Portland also and if you are driving you have parking in their driveway right next to the door. We woke up to freshly made coffee and blueberry yogurt smoothies ..... Our experience there was perfect in every way ..... Highly recommended and they are only two miles from Bob's Red Mill center where you can eat a great breakfast or lunch and stock up on trail and hiking food and snacks to last you for your entire Oregon vacation!

    Larry2014-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Alexis and Aaron were great hosts. The room was cozy with a wall heater if needed. We would have stayed longer but they had other guests arriving.

    James2015-03-31T00:00:00Z
  • I would not have changed anything about our trip especially our airbnb hosts Alexis and Aaron. They are truly the kindest and nicest people I could have hoped to meet, let alone stay with on my vacation. The accommodations are private and spacious you never feel like you are intruding. They have the best energetic flow through their home that is obvious from the first moment you arrive. They have magazines and refreshments available to you without even having to ask including water in your room. The smoothies everyone has mentioned are indescribable simply yum! I not only left Oregon I left my new friends there too. This was the best experience beyond anything I could have imagined. I would recommend staying here to anyone. In fact we are already planning our next trip back and we will without a doubt be staying here!

    Meaghan2015-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • Alexis and Aaron were fantastic hosts. There home was wonderful and the space they provided was well kept and charming. Overall a wonderful stay with great down to earth couple as hosts.

    Zac2015-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Our hosts, who were very congenial to us, even offered yogurt-fruit smoothies for breakfast, along with coffee, or an assortment of teas we could prepare ourselves anytime. The neighborhood is very quiet with almost no traffic passing in front of the house, yet it will be only a short walk away from the new Milwaukie light rail station opening by this fall for heading to the airport or downtown Portland. We would stay here again.

  • Paul and Janell were so accommodating . This was a last minute booking and they made it so easy. Met us to give keys and show us around, gave us information about the area, and the apartment and location were unbelievable. We just wish we had more time to enjoy it.

    Linda2015-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • Paul and Janell have a quite and beautiful home. A great place to stay. Private entrance, large first floor apartment, full kitchen and laundry was very nice. The large living room nicely decorated and very comfortable. Close to Portland (about 15-20 min) and would stay here again and not even think of staying anywhere else. Paul and Janelle provided a list of places to eat and brochures for places to visit which may our stay that much easier. We though about staying an extra day just to enjoy the home, water features, hot tub, the nice view and the lake. The swag bag, fruit, drinks, etc. made it very convenient and we didn't have to run to get things right away. Close to stores, restaurants, and train station into Portland. We stayed for 4 nights.

  • Visiting my sister in Portland was ideal from this lovely house on River Forest Lake. Our spacious apartment faced the lake and had a very warm and comfortable feel in this grey, rainy time. Our hosts provided us with everything we needed plus lots of little surprises and fun touches. The sound of water in the fountains was beautiful to hear. Paul was very responsive to our questions and was available when we needed him. The neighborhood was very pleasant to walk in and explore with gorgeous trees and winding streets. We would enjoy returning on our next trip to Portland.

    Michael2016-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • This place was the best Airbnb place we've stayed in yet! It is in a quiet, upscale residential neighborhood right on a private lake. Can't get much better than that! Plus it has all the amenities we needed. It was quite a luxury to have our own dishwasher and washer and dryer while traveling in addition to the fully equipped kitchen. They left lots of goodies for us too. It is a short drive (like 10 min maybe) to the Sellwood neighborhood of Portland and other hip neighborhoods like Hawthorne are just beyond that. We had the added bonus that it snowed while we stayed there! Sooo beautiful with snow on the lake and trees! This is a rare event (like less than once a year) in the Portland area so don't plan on snow but it was a great place to get stuck in the snow.

    Melissa2016-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at the River forest Lake Apartment was completely wonderful. Janell and Paul are exceptional hosts. They were responsive and paid close attention to every detail from the flowers, fruit and coffee in the bright and colorful kitchen, to the games, books and bedding in the spacious living room and bedroom. This was truly a peaceful oasis complete with beautiful landscaping and a koi pond. We will definitely be recommending this place to our friends and hope to stay again ourselves!

    Margaret2015-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Paul met us when we arrived. Walked through the exterior and interior. We were greeted with fresh fruit and cold drinks in the fridge. I didn't realize there was a fire pit to make S'mores which they had provided everything else, so that was a pleasant surprise. The apt was very clean and bigger than I expected as well as their yard. We would just go stand and look out and take in the quiet scenery, it is truly a beautiful place to stay. The neighborhood was quiet, you could see the stars through the trees. We didn't get a chance to use the canoe and paddle boat cause we ran out of time. Janell and Paul were very good at communicating with us. They were very well to work with. My husband and I really enjoyed our stay with them. Would HIGHLY recommend staying with them. We would love to again if we ever make it back to Portland. Janell and Paul really went above and beyond with our stay. I hope to find a Paul and Janell hosts everywhere we travel. THANK YOU!!!!!!!

    Lindsay2016-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • Paul and Janell were amazing hosts! We were delayed several hours getting into Portland and they were very easy to communicate with. When we arrived, there were snacks and drinks along with a complimentary bottle of wine to celebrate our honeymoon. This has been the best Airbnb experience we have had. Paul and Janell go above and beyond to accommodate their guests. The lake house had beautiful scenery and we really enjoyed using the hot tub, paddle boat, and canoe. I highly recommend anyone looking for a place to stay in the Portland area to contact Paul and Janell because their place was as close to perfect as it gets. Thank you for hosting us! - Erin and Miranda

    Erin2017-07-12T00:00:00Z
  • This is by far one of the best airbnb experiences my Wife and I have every had. The pictures do not fully do justice to how awesome, comfortable and amazing this place is. Paul and Janell were both very welcoming and we felt right at home. Little touches like a fridge filled with snacks, a shelf full of recommended sights to see and a bathroom with extra amenities just in case you forgot shampoo or whatnot made this place absolutely stellar! The neighborhood is nice and quiet, sleep came easy in the super comfy bed and we enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub every single night. With Portland only a short drive away, this place stands out as a gem in the airbnb world.

Tiny home/bungalow on a half acre in a nice semi secluded area. It is 11 miles on a straight road to the center of downtown pdx! Sweet, cute, quaint & nothing less than charming:) We are also 50 minutes to great skiing on Mt Hood! Nice outdoor hot tub that is private. Note: the loft holds up to 350lb. There is a bottom twin with a trundle bed as an alternate option. Please let me know in advance so I can set it up! You will most likely not see any of us unless you need something:)
  • Best vacation ever. I reserved this tiny house for myself and my twenty year old daughter as I birthday present for us both. We had space to be sleeping separately and enter act during waking hours cuddled together. The setting for this tiny house is magical and our host Celeste was gracious. I would recommend reserving this place to anyone. I intend to stay again with Celeste.

    Lyla2015-12-19T00:00:00Z
  • Celeste was great and the tiny house was very comfy. Her and her family were very friendly and quickly remedied the only small problem I had. Would definitely recommend, especially for a person traveling alone. Might be cramped for a long stay for more than one!

  • This tiny home is such a great deal if you're in the Portland area! Not only is it located close to major points of interest, the house itself is a charming little getaway. It was clean, quiet, and beautiful. Celeste was also a super easy host to communicate with even though we never met.

    Lily2017-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time at tiny house! The space was perfect for visiting Portland. Celeste is very hospitable and thought of everything you could possibly need. The pups are also very friendly. Highly recommended!

  • I have to say that we love the area that this Tiny House is in. It's just minutes off main thoroughfares, yet quiet and private. The Tiny House itself is so nice! Nothing has been forgotten. She has even left snacks, groupon coupons, current magazines, great coffee, tea, etc. The whole experience was such a nice surprise! We would definitely stay there again!

**PLEASE NOTE** : STARTING NOW UNTIL DECEMBER UNTIL JAN 2ND I AM REQUESTING ONE WEEK MINIMUM STAYS. PLEASE CONTACT ME BEFORE BOOKING AND WE MAY BE ABLE TO WORK SOMETHING OUT. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE! Welcome to Lake Oswego and to our home, located in a quiet residential area, yet close to everything L.O. and Portland have to offer. Our space is perfect for one or two people, and we can accommodate longer term guests as well when needed, although I prefer to book one month at a time.
If you're considering visiting the portland area or specifically Lake Oswego, our home may be the right fit. Whether you are coming for work or to pay a visit to friends or family, we are in a lovely part of town. * Work? We are a short drive to all the Lake Oswego office parks and conferences as well as downtown l.o.. * Tourist? There is a lot to do close by in the form of trails and parks, the lake, restaurants and shopping. * Visitor? If you are coming to visit any of the local schools or are thinking of relocating- we are a very short drive to Marylhurst University, Lewis and Clark, and of course all the Lake Oswego school district as well. CONVENIENT- we are on a safe, quiet cul-de-sac walking distance to one of the best local high end supermarkets (great deli and hot food section), pizza, thai food, dry cleaners and gas stations. we are also very close to 43/state st/ willamette dr which will take you directly to downtown portland or west linn, and also the 205 which will take you directly to wilsonville, etc...depending on your destination. THE ROOM- * Very comfortable double bed and simply but nicely furnished room with closet. Lots of light, private windows, and wood floors. * Side door entrance leading to kitchenette (a functional and funky/imperfect/vintage space) sink, counter space, toaster oven, mini fridge/freezer, microwave), and table for two. Laundry for your use while here(preferably a week or longer, and please check with me first). * Semi-private 3/4 bath not far from bedroom (we barely use it, but access is through our kitchen). * Coffee and tea provided. Occasionally baked goodies or treats of some kind as well. THINGS OF NOTE- * We are usually up between 6:30-7am so you may hear us although we'll be considerate if you are still sleeping. * Furnace is in kitchenette/laundry and can be noisy starting up, followed by white noise (in case you are noise sensitive). * No smoking or smokers (only due to smell). * Please be considerate after 8pm as my child (school age) is going to sleep. Showing up between 7:30-8:30pm is less than ideal for this reason but come when you need to. * We have a very friendly and mellow (but sometimes chatty and intimidating) German Shepherd who will not be in your space as long as you don't allow her in. She is sweet and safe to be around. Also, I try to keep our entire home clean of her hair and there is little dog smell. However, if you're highly allergic or don't like dogs it may not work for you. * Our laundry is in your kitchenette area but I try and do laundry only when you are out so as not to disturb you. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO WRITE WITH ANY QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS YOU MAY HAVE AND BE SURE TO READ THE HOUSE RULES AND EVERYTHING THOROUGHLY! THANKS!
We are close to so much! Besides a few minute drive into downtown L.O., we have Thai food, pizza, dry cleaners, Starbucks, and a great supermarket (including great ready made foods) all within two blocks of us, although you'd never guess it because it's so quiet here.
  • Lily was a lovely host. Nice quiet place with a comfy bed. Clean and well kept...and loved Lola the dog.

    Carrie2016-06-04T00:00:00Z
  • Lily and her son were wonderful hosts. The accurate and clear description helped us know what to expect before we arrived and once we were there, Lily graciously and considerately welcomed us into her home. Like a true hostess she balanced giving us our space and privacy with being friendly, warm and welcoming with nice chats and help finding food or things to do. The next time I find myself in Lake Oswego I would love to stay with Lily again and hopefully would have more time for a longer stay to fully enjoy all of the charm!

    Emma2015-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • It was a great place to stay. I needed a place to stay because I was in the area for a silent meditation retreat. Lily's home fit my intentions very well. The neighborhood was peaceful and close to the retreat. Wonderful experience for my first Airbnb.

  • Lilly's place was great and really helped me in my move from Bend to Portland .

  • Terrific host of a great private room. Fantastic experience!

    Arthur2016-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • The bedroom is lovely and private and the bed very comfortable with a memory foam topper. Slept like a log. Lily is warm and welcoming and I greatly enjoyed getting to know her, Emmett, and their dog, Lola. While you have to walk through their kitchen to get to your bathroom, you don't have to share the bathroom with the family. If you are sensitive to noise, be advised that the house furnace is in the kitchenette adjoining your bedroom. I had a lovely stay and would return another time.

    Joanie2017-11-20T00:00:00Z
  • Lily is a very friendly and gracious host. Her home is beautiful and peaceful and is located in a quiet and comfortable neighborhood within Lake Oswego. The proximity to all the local charm and amenities that LO has to offer is awesome. The room is exactly as described. The bed is comfortable and there is ample closet space. The kitchenette is well equipped and includes a clothes washer and dryer. The entire space can be closed off from the main house for privacy but Lily is also open for a friendly chat at any time. I spent over 30 days in and out of this home during my relocation from SoCal to Portland and I couldn't be happier with the experience.

Cozy private room with queen bed, closet space, and dresser. The space is very peaceful as it’s a corner lot in a quiet neighborhood. Tons of stores and food/bars near by. Bus stop steps away with max line less than two miles away.
The space is set up for passcode entry so keys are not necessary!
The house is located in a very quiet neighborhood with mature landscaping.
  • Had a very nice stay at Kayla's, stayed for two days and it went better than expected. First time booking a private room but we were comfortable the whole time. Every time I asked a question Kayla responded quickly. The little dog is also very friendly.

    Sarah2017-04-02T00:00:00Z
  • Kayla's place was even better than she has described and shown in photos. My husband and I stayed here and there was plenty of room for us and our ever-increasing luggage in our room. We slept well as it was quiet and dark enough in the room. Everything was extremely clean, including the bathroom which was big enough and easy to use. We met Kayla briefly a few times which was nice to put a face to a name as she was out a lot of the time, as were we. We were missing our two dogs so it was nice to be around her dog Nitro too who warmed to us soon after we arrived. The location of Kayla's place is great. Although we hired a car this time, we have been to Portland before and stayed in the same area and used public transport which is within walking distance. It's nice to be in suburbia rather than downtown or along the river where a lot of the hotels are. Check in and out was easy and Kayla is very quick to respond to emails. Thank you Kayla for our stay and we will recommend your place to our friends.

    Ellen2017-09-12T00:00:00Z

Modern 1BR Apt in Historic Sellwood. This new, charming upper level apartment, with a private entrance is located in Portland’s Historic Sellwood neighborhood. Unique shops, food carts, restaurants, coffee bars, parks and more await you.
Large windows and skylights giving lots of natural light Quiet, peaceful and comfortable.
We are on a quiet tree lined street just a block from 13th ave, a great neighborhood street full of wonderful local restaurants, coffee shops, boutiques, a bike store, bakery, bottle shop, etc.. Just a block the other way is Sellwood Park, with its outdoor pool, tennis courts and beautiful old Fir trees and picnic areas overlooking the Willamette River. Walk 5 minutes and you are on the banks of the river or Oaks Bottom natural area.
  • This place was absolutely amazing! The unit is extremely clean, very modern, and peaceful. And, because it's important to note, the bed was extremely comfortable--we slept incredibly well the three nights we stayed (we didn't want to get out of bed!). We will surely come back to this apartment anytime we head to Portland! The location of the apartment was perfect for us--just a one-minute walk from restaurants, coffee shops, and stores, a ten-minute walk from another cluster of restaurants and bars, and a five-minute walk to a gorgeous park near the water. What an absolute treat!! (Just a note, we chose to rent a car to get to and from downtown areas of Portland and were happy we did because it encouraged us to drive out and hike near the waterfalls!)

  • A light, bright airy property in a beautiful neighborhood. This was our sanctuary during our crazy first week in Oregon (just moved here). This was our first experience with Air B&B and it couldn't have been a better introduction.

    Shanninigans2016-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • This was my first experience with Air BnB, and it was phenomenal. I enjoyed the entire experience and will continue to use this service for future travel needs! The bar has been set quite high.

  • The house is very comfortable clean and quiet . Elizabeth helped me feel at home. I love the park nearby. An excellent place to walk even when it's hot out.

    Katherine 2016-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • The place was very tidy and clean. The living room is like a private bedroom. It is 20-25 minutes from Portland downtown. Will stay again.

    Farrukh2016-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • Elizabeth was very welcoming! Although she wasn't there when we arrived, she gave us the access code to get in and had post-it notes on everything explaining how to use certain amenities, what we could use, some rules to remember (ex: turn off lights), and a sign welcoming my friend and I to our room! The house was clean, as expected, and the neighborhood was very quiet and pleasant. The house is only a 6 minute drive from my school (Marylhurst) and was conveniently located from other areas (by car) and walking distance to a bus stop.

    Lana2016-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • Elizabeth was very gracious. Her home is beautiful.

    Lisa2016-10-22T00:00:00Z

  • Kenan was very responsive and understanding when we needed to leave a bit early due to family reasons. The accommodations themselves were great. There is no AC, but Portland is rather temperate so this wasn't a problem. Just a block away from Starbucks and a lot of restaurants. Easy to get Uber to and from.

  • The loft is an open, airy space, well equipped and decorated for a couple. The location in Sellwood is ideal to walk or bike many places and in a lovely neighborhood.

  • Access to the Studio is great and so close to everything for fun exploring.

  • This stay was excellent. It's such a lovely location, and with great and kind hosts, we were totally pleased all around. We stayed for a quick weekend over Labor Day to visit family by Lake Oswego, and loved our ability to take our rental car from here to there and see the sights (bummed it was cloudy when we saw Timberline Lodge, but it was a bit spooky that way). This granny flat has got me convinced- the grannies are livin' large!

    Matthew2015-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Kenan's Sellwood studio was the perfect place to stay for exploring the neighborhood of Sellwood. The detached loft studio had everything that we needed to have a comfortable stay . She made sure that she and her partner were accessible in case we had any questions or issues. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will most likely stay there's again.

This tranquil hideaway feels like you're in the middle of the forest, but is just minutes from Portland. Relax next to the burbling creek surrounded by towering cedar trees. The MAX Orange line and downtown Milwaukie are only five minutes away. Built in 1928, the cabin has central heat, one bedroom and bathroom, a living room and a full kitchen. The bedroom has one queen bed and an en suite bathroom. There is also a pull-out queen futon in the living room.
Ducks, great blue heron and owls are frequent visitors in the yard. Depending on the season, fresh eggs from our chickens may be available.
Milwaukie is about 15 minutes south of downtown Portland (a bit longer if there's traffic). Except at rush hour, highway 99 is a quick and easy way to access all that the closer-in neighborhoods have to offer. Then escape to your retreat in the woods!
  • We had a wonderful time at Pat's cabin. It was situated right next to a creek and our puppy enjoyed playing fetch and chasing ducks. Pat and Heather were amazing hosts. They were nice enough to bring us a corkscrew when we needed it late at night, and share farm fresh eggs for breakfast.

    Akhil2017-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • We loved the place and will be back. The hosts were very quick and very helpful in all responses. The bed was so comfortable and cozy I didn’t want to leave it! It was also great to be able to bring our dogs. They loved the trio of Bassets at the house, who were also welcoming. Great stay for Christmas near family.

    jeaneen2017-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had an incredible time at the cabin! The location is beautiful, the cabin comes with all the necessities, and Pat was very accommodating. Pat gave us a dozen fresh eggs from his coup and helped us get the fire pit started. I definitely would love to come back and stay at the cabin in the future.

    Basil2017-12-17T00:00:00Z
  • This was by far the best Airbnb experience to date! The cabin was so cozy and tranquil, and the hosts were very helpful. The hosts dogs were so cute, and there were mallards floating down the creek, perfect spot for animal lovers. Morning coffee by the creek was incredible. The perfect getaway.

    Kaila2017-11-27T00:00:00Z
  • Great place and so eclectic. Easy checking and a neat cabin. I would definitely stay again

    James2017-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • Pat was a wonderful host during our stay. He took the time to show our 18 year old son how to properly chop wood, make kindling and prepare a fire for the fireplace in the cabin. Pat was excellent with communication and made sure Everything we needed during our stay was readily available upon our arrival. The cabin was conveniently located, felt private and exceeded our expectations. Bed ,futon and pillows were both super comfy. The fuzzy sheets/blankets were amazing. Pictures don't do this space justice. If you are looking for a clean, cozy place to stay that's not too far from downtown Portland this is the place to book.

    Devin and bekah2017-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome place to stay. 20-25 minutes from downtown but feels like a romantic cabin in the woods. Make sure to plan some time to enjoy a hot coffee in the morning at the river.

    Oliver2017-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • This place is as magical as it looks. Make yourself a little coffee in the french press and sit by the fire or go outside and listen to the creek rushing over rocks. Chances are you won't want to leave.

  • This is a great location if you need the services of a small downtown area. Great food and shopping in walking distance. Very congenial host who went out of her way to accommodate my needs.

    Tom2016-03-25T00:00:00Z
  • It was a real pleasure staying at Kate's place. It was easy to make check-in arrangements and she was very accommodating to my arrival schedule. The neighborhood is very quiet and within convenient walking distance to downtown. I enjoyed walking to town for coffee in the mornings and for dinner in the evenings. Lots of locals also out for walks or jogs and lots of friendly "good mornings" were said.

    Richard2015-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • Kate's house is located in a quiet and very safe area in Lake Oswego. Easy walk to downtown, shops, and George Rogers park. Since we were in for a quick 2 night stay and not around much, we weren't able to meet Kate, but her communication was excellent. One cautionary note would be that we found the bed to be soft (it's a 6-8 inch foam on a sheet of plywood). Ok if you like a soft foam bed, but not so much if you prefer a firm mattress.

    Ed2014-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • It worked for my 50year reunion.

    David2016-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • I loved staying at Kate's! I had appointments in Lake Oswego and could walk to all of my destinations. Kate made check in and check out very easy, and she was a gracious host. The room I stayed in had a medium-soft memory foam mattress and was quite comfortable. All amenities were there, including soap and kleenex. The home is tidy, yet sparse, not luxury accommodation - more like staying with a friend or relative. I really enjoyed my stay and won't hesitate to rebook here when my travels take me back to Lake Oswego.

We're within minutes of two shopping centers, REI, Whole Foods, Costco, Zupans and some great restaurants like La Provence and Jefe amongst others. 24 Hour Fitness and Club Sport are just down the road as well. There are great parks nearby with George Rogers being my favorite since it's on the Willamette River. Access provided to Lake Grove Swim Park on Oswego Lake. If you’re looking for somewhere to paddle, the Tualatin River is minutes away. There is a rental facility on the river that has canoes, kayaks and paddle boards available - Alder Creek Kayak and Canoe.
  • We will unquestionably be back to Tomasz's flat. He's a super responsive host and quickly answered any questions we had. We loved the space. From what I understand Tomasz did the work himself, and his woodwork, craftsmanship and materials/fixtures are super high-quality. The shower is a treat to use, there's a new high-def widescreen LED TV on the wall with Netflix and other options on demand, and there's a new wall heater in every room. He's even stocked the kitchen with more awesome coffee and tea options than most restaurants. Nestled in the pines close to Lewis & Clark College, Tomasz's place is only 5 minutes from Washington Square and Lake Oswego, and only 20 minutes to downtown PDX. Also, the hens are awesome - especially the dark brown alpha hen, who will let you pet her. Super highlight for our animal-loving 10yr-old. :) We can't recommend Tomasz's place enough for a small family of 3, and we're pretty sure you'll enjoy it too.

  • Fantastic space and excellent value! We've already recommended it to friends. The apartment was very stylish and cozy with plenty of space. The kitchen area had everything we needed including electric kettle, French press, coffee, and tea. The throw blankets for cozying up on the couch were a nice touch, and the bed was very comfortable. We will definitely look to stay here again the next time we visit the Portland area!

    Michelle2017-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • This place was an excellent find in the south Portland area (right in Lake Oswego, very near Tualatin and Bridgeport Village Shopping). Spacious, sparkling clean and modern. A beautifully designed space. Comfortable sleeping for three (or four). I hope my travels take me back to Portland, I will look to see if this spot is available again. A thoughtful bag of coffee and available french press made for a welcoming touch when we arrived.

    Phil2017-12-17T00:00:00Z
  • Tomas and Heidi were incredible hosts. So kind and considerate-- they checked in to be sure that we were comfortable and if we needed anything. They were friendly but gave us plenty of autonomy. The space is amazing. Perfectly located for the Portland metro area with easy access to all the main thoroughfares. There home feels like a secluded getaway with easy access to downtown Portland, the Willamette Valley wine country and many other Portland area attractions. It honesty couldn't be better located or have nicer hosts. We highly recommend their airbnb and will be frequent guests in the future.

    Rachael2017-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • He was a great host , communication was great, got a little history on the hen den . It was worth every penny .

    Darrell 2017-12-09T00:00:00Z
  • The Hen Den is absolutely gorgeous, and we were very impressed that Tomasz had built it himself! The living room and kitchen area is very spacious. There are many dishes available to use, and plenty of fridge space. The beds are very soft and comfortable, and the shower is so nice! They have a beautiful home and backyard. That area of Portland feels like you’re in a forest! There is a bus stop right around the corner from the house, and many great restaurants and grocery stores within walking distance. Tomasz is an excellent host, and had many great local recommendations. He was always very responsive, and was able to answer any questions we had. We had an excellent stay at the Hen Den. It’s the perfect place to go if you’re looking for a relaxing place to stay in Portland. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in the area.

  • John and Jereza are amazing hosts. This was my and my boyfriend's first time visiting the Portland area, and John gave us plenty of ideas for places to visit and things to do. The house is beautiful and exactly as described, and breakfast each morning was delicious. They go above and beyond to make sure that their guests are comfortable- when I wasn't feeling well, John brought down a tray of tea, milk, and honey to help settle my stomach. John and Jereza, thanks for making our trip even better!

    Susan2014-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at the tree house one night and had a late check-in. The instructions are clear about where to go and how to get in. It was alittle cold when we arrived late at night but there is a heater in the bedroom. The bed is small. It is very quiet there and you are really up in the trees which is beautiful. John helped us watch a Diana Krall concert on his amazing home theater. The written instructions are too long and complicated to use. The hot breakfast in the morning was good but you must like dogs because the three English Bulldogs are right there with you.

    Marian2015-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I enjoyed our stay at John’s. His place was exactly as listed. Great views, awesome TV and sound system, pool table, hot tub, and more. Too much to enjoy in just two days while also visiting Portland area and Mt. Hood. Great value for the price.

  • On our first trip to Portland, we were so fortunate to have found this place on air bnb. John and Jereza were so welcoming and their home was lovely and spacious. We especially enjoyed the deck and spending time in the hot tub. You feel like you're in a forest. It's really a beautiful location. John and Jeresa were so welcoming and gracious! They made us 2 fabulous breakfasts and spent time talking with us about our trip and offering advice and guidance on our travel plans. We definitely would stay there again and are so happy to add them as another reason to visit Portland!

    Steve2014-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • John was great with communication out the gate, which we always appreciate. The property was exactly as it looks in the listing, perhaps even a little better. The media center/TV area is just out of control! Very nicely equipped. John did a great job of the walk-through and making us feel at home and comfortable. The breakfast items and the bar area/kind of kitchen made staying there for a few nights very nice. While it wasn't really walkable to anything, the secluded feeling you got by being there really added a layer of peace and tranquility that you couldn't get from being in a more urban setting. Also, everything was within a 5-10 minute drive anyway, so it wasn't really a problem.

    Adam & Andrea2016-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • To be honest, this was a frustrating experience. Although the host, John, was very nice upon arrival, he had forgotten that I was coming that night so the place was not ready when I got there. I had tried to communicate with John via email, the app, and the phone with no response from any of them until the day I checked out. John did apologize and even gifted a bottle of wine, which was kind. But unfortunately, I don't feel like that made up for being forgotten about.

    Matt2017-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • John was quick to reply and the space is as listed. Located in a safe, quiet, residential neighborhood. Loved relaxing in the hot tub and the view is great! The mini fridge being stocked and other snacks were a bonus - thank you.

  • I had such a fantastic week there. The apartment was great, their dogs were adorable, the hot tub was nice, the food was delicious, and John is totally on the ball (pun absolutely intended). Yeah, he's a wicked ping pong player. And host. Everything worked out so well and it was exactly what I hoped for.

An inviting basement apartment located in the heart of the Sellwood neighborhood, with a home theater system, kitchen, an assortment of musical instruments, and private entry. Walk to restaurants, cafes, shops, parks, bus, grocery store.
Sellwood Music Suite is a separate private apartment below the main part of the house we live in. A private entrance with your own unique keypad entry code brings you into the spacious living room. The bedroom has a queen bed with a Tuft & Needle mattress, and a bunkbed with two single mattresses - and more people can be accommodated with the queen sofa bed in the living room. The bathroom is off of the bedroom. The radiant floor heat, fairly high ceilings and abundant natural light are the source of its warm open feeling. And even on the hottest summer days, it stays fairly cool. A projector shows Apple TV, Netflix, or Blu-ray/DVD movies on a 110" screen, and the surround sound completes the home theater experience as though you were at the movies. That same audio system can be used as a stereo - you can dial in radio stations from Apple TV, radio tuner, or connect your own device to play your own tunes. There are musical instruments (keyboard, drum set, guitar, plus more) that are there to be played. We added a full kitchen in 2015, so if you've stayed with us before, look at our pictures and check out the changes! Done exploring inside? Then it's time to explore outside! Within blocks, you have cafes, restaurants, food carts, a tea shop, grocery stores, a library, bookstore, parks, the Willamette River, antiques, boutiques... the walkscore website gives it a 93 out of 100! There's also a bus stop half a block away and a 20 minute walk will get you to the streetcar downtown called "MAX". It's also a great area for bicycling, and there is a bicycle shop a few blocks away that rents e-bikes. There's an amazing bike/pedestrian path along the river all the way into downtown Portland. Your stay comes with wifi, shared use of the utility room with its laundry facilities, free parking, and much more. If we're around, come knock on our door and we'll help you figure out what's going on around town.
We moved here because we wanted to live where there was a lot to do within a few blocks, and we don't always have to get in our car. There are parks, cafes, restaurants, shops, grocery, bars, library, bus stop.... All within a few blocks! People are out and about when the weather is good (and even when it's not) - it's a friendly, vibrant neighborhood atmosphere.
  • Dave and Silke went above and beyond to make sure we were accommodated. From the speed of their replies, to the small gestures they made us (recommendations, notes, smiles), to the openness of their home. They were in no way intrusive, and are genuine people. Their home was warm and welcoming, and the projection system was a blast (especially since our trip was partially snowed in)!

  • Davide and Silke were great hosts and the apartment was fantastic. The addition of the kitchen and the ameneties were excellent. They provided us with great recommendations around town and at the beach and Mt. Hood, and were very welcoming, inviting, and accomodating. The surrounding neighborhood was great too. Overall it was a great experience.

  • We had a really lovely (albeit too brief) two-night stay in this funky apartment. Plenty of room; great natural light; instruments everywhere (electric piano, a couple guitars, lots of hand percussion, flutes and recorders), which guests are encouraged to play. A fun bonus: their projector-driven entertainment center, with Apple TV and surround sound. Our local friends came over to hang out, and their kids watched a movie on the entertainment center while we talked. We know the neighborhood, given that we have friends nearby, and it's a beautiful place to walk around--lots of nice homes and gardens, and Sellwood is rife with antique stores, cafes, etc. (Definitely get some breakfast at Grand Central Bakery!) We got in late, but Dave still met us with a warm greeting, and we spoke with both hosts just before checkout. They were very friendly and engaging. I would most certainly come back to Sellwood Central Basement, hopefully for a longer stay, next time.

  • We needed a place VERY last minute on our way through town on a long road trip. BING, BANG, BOOM... Dave & Silke saved the day! The place is GREAT! We had Italian food in the cute and quaint neighborhood and settled in for a BIG screen movie back at the house. A+ Highly recommended!!!

  • This place was perfect for a pack of guys crashing in Portland for a night (on the way to the coast). Very well located and close to all the action in SE Portland. Dave was great and very accommodating - even letting my friend leave his bike there for a few days.

  • Very comfortable! Nice neighborhood, easy access to Portland via car or bus/tri met. Bus stop one block away. Walking distance to many restaurants and a nice alternative grocery store.

  • If I say too many wonderful things about the hosts and the basement suite, readers might think I am exaggerating. But, no! Dave and Silke were amazingly warm, friendly and helpful hosts. The suite was SO much nicer than a hotel, and the actual neighborhood (Sellwood) was fantastic. Every conceivable store, restaurant, bar, antique shop, bank, bike trail etc. is within a few minutes walking distance and full of Portland charm. I would move there if I could!

  • We didn't get to meet Dave and Silke until the day we left, but we are glad they opened their home to us. Lucca was wonderful, though we only got to meet her once. The basement itself is incredible, we loved jamming on all the instruments. We had 6 people staying down there and everyone got on fine. The neighborhood is beautiful, lots of cool shops and good breakfasts to be had. We found it easy to head North on the bus as well. We had an incredible time in Portland and we LOVED Sellwood Basement!! Highly recommend this spot.

At the end of a quiet street, opening out over 270-degree river views, this sunny, newly remodeled garden apartment, overlooks the Willamette River about 10 miles south of downtown Portland. Breakfast items supplied; Occasional babysitting available.
The >1250 sq ft apartment opens on to a small garden, and overlooks a wide sweep of the Willamette river, with an abundance of wildlife-viewing and fishing opportunities.
Our home is centrally located between downtown Portland (by car or the recently opened MAX orange line), and historic Oregon City, close to the Willamette Falls, Milwaukie Farmers market, the Sellwood shopping and dining area, Mount Hood and the Columbia Gorge. The Milwaukie/Oak Grove trolley trail (URL HIDDEN) is close by, offering a safe, scenic artery by which to explore the are, by foot or bicycle.

  • My family and I love spending our days on the private beach, kayaking on the Williamette (2x kayaks, life vests, and water shoes supplied by hostess Therese. Fantastic views from every window over looking lush greenery, and the sights and sounds of birds, and the Wiliamette. Highly recommended. 5 stars!
