Lake
“ Green Valley Park has a lake with a large sidewalk that goes around it on one side of the road and on the other continues with a music stand for outdoor concerts and events, a children's playground, our Veteran's Memorial and an open grassy lawn for playing ball and a hill that families use for sledding during the winter snows. A full figure 8 walk on the sidewalk around both sides of the park equal 1 mile. Fountains recirculate the water coming up in the center of the lake and there is a fishing dock. The lake is stocked with trout from the Tonto Creek Fish Hatchery. You will often see individuals fishing along the sides of the lake. We also have wild ducks, geese and a pair of cranes.”

Cinéma
“Payson Sawmill Theatre has 6 screens. Locally owned movie theater for new releases on the big screen, with options for private screenings. It is built on the land where our old sawmill stood for 40 years. The wood beams are from the old sawmill and it is home to the old whistle that would blow at the beginning and end of each shift and at the noon lunch hour. ”

“Good food, good prices. Cash only and is busy most of the time. I would not recommend this for a large group due to it is a cafe - small and it being so busy. It seems like it should be historic as it has been around for a long time. ”

Museum
“ The Rim Country Museum is nestled among the green rolling hills and three lakes of the award winning Green Valley Park, which was developed around these historic structures. The Rim Country Museum complex consists of the Oldest Forest Ranger Station and Residence still standing in the Southwest, originally built in 1907 and then later re-built upon their original foundations around 1933. The exhibit hall is a replica of the two-story 'Herron Hotel' known as the 'Hilton of Payson' in the early 1900's. Additionally we have an approximately 1900 Haught cabin and the top of the Forest Service watchtower from Mt. Ord. Enjoy a guided tour about the people who called Rim Country their home.”

Cafe
“Wrapped in pine and adorned with antlers, fishing nets and trophy photos, Pinon Cafe serves as a kind of welcome wagon to the forested lushness of Rim Country. You’ll find plenty of diner favorites and some unexpected delights. Huevos benedictos ($7.25) put a rowdy Southwestern spin on eggs benedict. Poached eggs and spicy chorizo nestle on an English muffin and are smothered in green chile sauce. They’re served with potatoes and a wedge of watermelon, which helps cool off your taste buds. If you yearn to start your day with something more dessert-like, try the Elvis ($7.50), French toast stuffed with peanut butter and topped with sautée bananas and chocolate drizzle.”

“Quaint and fun. The food is good and prices are reasonable. Simple diner for American classics served amid airplane decor, plus views of the adjacent runway. The large picture windows gives you a magnificent view of the Mogollon Rim and you can watch the small aircraft come and go. Their pies are well known. Many gifts and whole pies are available for purchase. The atmosphere is quaint with small model planes hanging from the ceiling.”
