“Amazingly, this stall is run by a young couple who took over the stall 10 years ago from the previous owner who ran it for 15 years. They had no prior experience making Ban Mian and the previous owner did not even pass them the recipe! Today, they are probably the most popular Ban Mian eatery. Great bowl of Ban Mian, but be prepared to wait for at least 30-45mins during peak periods”

“Old School Cantonese Eatery by Desmond. Brother of Sik Wai Sin Eating House. All the skills in the kitchen (both steaming and wok hand dishes) was taught to younger son Desmond, while elder sibling Steven specialised in and handled only the steamed dishes (one of the most difficult sections to master in a Chinese kitchen), so that no one can outdo each other and mess the flow of harmony in the kitchen.”

“SEAN KEE BRAISED DUCK. Sean Kee is located in the same coffeeshop as the infamous Sin Huat Crab Bee Hoon. I have known about them for a long time as the braised duck that you are not supposed order while waiting for your crab bee hoon! Incidentally, what you are eating here is no mere braising sauce but one that has an unbroken lineage stretching back to 1979!?!”

“GEYLANG CLAYPOT RICE. Michelin Star too. The claypot rice is cooked to order in an earthen pot using charcoal, laden with a myriad of ingredients including well marinated chicken pieces, Chinese sausages, waxed pork and bits of fragrant salted fish. The claypot rice was very well cooked and taste scrumptious, the rice is cooked directly from the claypot and that takes at least 25 minutes to one hour wait. ”
