  • This little tucked away place known as the Silo Studio at the Santarella Estates and Gardens was the most adorable, whimsical and unique place we have ever stayed. I fell in love with it the instant we arrived and just adored our Silo Studio. Truth be told, I fell in love with every board, door, handle, window, shingle, roof line and inch of the grounds and garden space.... everything my eyes fell upon. It was truly a little slice of heaven and the perfect getaway my husband and I were looking for. Denise and Dennis were amazing hosts, so wonderful, kind and accommodating. Upon our arrival we were warmly greeted by Denise. As she showed us to our silo we chatted very freely and learned the history of the Santarella Estate. A bottle of wine, a fire started with classical music playing awaited us as we entered the Silo. I was touched and impressed. These were just some of the personal touches that set the stage for our weekend. The grounds are just beautiful and even though here in early Spring, the gardens just beginning to sprout and in their infancy still show their beauty... lovely to walk around, sit, meditate, relax and just be. It is an awe-inspiring place, so peaceful and felt a bit like we were part of a storybook. While enjoying the serenity of its sanctuary like feel we loved its proximity to Great Barrington, Lenox, Stockbridge and the surrounding areas in the Bershires. We took advantage of drives exploring the countryside, hiking to the beautiful Bash Bish Falls, wonderful Farm to Table restaurants and shopping in Great Barrington and Lenox. With the Bershires your backdrop in any season coupled with the oasis that Santarella provides there is simply no way you could not relax, decompress and enjoy! We highly recommend and will return! Thank you Denise and Dennis for providing us with these awesome accommodations and wonderful weekend away!

  • This place is amazing! The set up of the cottage, the estate grounds, hiking trails and especially Denise were exceptional. We definitely plan on coming back. The center of Lenox awesome and dog friendly. Highly recommend watching the fireflies on the Santarella Grounds. 10/10 in my opinion! Fantastic experience.

  • We had an enjoyable, cozy stay on a few cold winter days; the tiny house was comfortable and charming and by far one of the most unique places I have ever stayed.

    Maureen2016-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • An enchanting property with wonderful hosts!

    Tony2017-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • The Silo Studio was just as beautiful in person. I can see this as a great location for a wedding or other gathering. Denise was very responsive and welcoming. This is a wonderful nature retreat.

    Sherianne2014-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • The Silo Studio cottage is a perfect retreat location -- you will feel very close to nature here, and on the beautiful grounds. Lots to do in the area too. The hosts were very friendly, accommodating and helpful. I would return. Note there is no A/C, though it cools down a lot in the evenings.

    Amy2014-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely Amazing getaway. My best friend and I spent two nights and can't wait to go back! Denise is so helpful, and the grounds are like stepping into a fairytale. We were even welcome with a bottle of wine! Can't wait to go back. Thank you so much for everything!

    Griselda2014-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • From arrival to departure our host and hostess were wonderful. The place is truly magical more than the photos can depict. We enjoyed a moderate hike over Monument Mountain, a local theater in Great Barrington, some great local restaurants, and the story book grounds. The biodiversity of the flora was remarkable. The local pond was refreshing and unoccupied.

Winter is here! The Berkshires offer fine and casual dining and Cross country and down hill skiing is at its best along with many cultural venues and some of the most beautiful country you can imagine. We are about 15 minutes from Catamount or Ski Butternut and we would love to have you as our guests to enjoy our winter Berkshires.
This single level 1,250 square foot renovation provides an open plan great room that is spacious, comfortable and relaxing with a queen size convertibles couch and two antique club chairs, an adjustable wing chair, vintage side and coffee tables and a flat screen TV connected to SPECTRUM Cable TV and Wi-Fi along side the dining area with period Art Deco table & chairs under a complementary chandelier. Across from which is the fully functional white kitchen, spiced with red accents including a vintage Coca-Cola panel from a Spanish language dispensing machine. Down the carpeted hallway are two bedrooms, each fitted with a queen size bed, antique dressers and night tables. A separate WC is directly across the hall and next to the WC is a luxurious shower / dressing room furnished with an all-glass half round shower, an antique dressing table and chair with appropriate lighting and an antique Kimono stand to hang your wet towels. Next to the front door is a desk with local maps, brochures and emergency telephone numbers and a cork board for you to leave messages for members of your group. The single story building was built with extra insulation so it stays cool in the summer and warm in the winter with hot water base board heating. We just added air conditioners in each bedroom for those that want to use them. Parking is at the door for two maybe three cars and more parking space at the front of the property.
Sheffield is a rural farm community and a beautiful example of the best of small-town New England. It is located in Southern part of Berkshire County, MA on Rt7 with access to the Appalachian Trail and it is immediately north of Litchfield County CT and east of Hillsdale NY in the mid Hudson Valley with access to The Taconic Parkway . Sheffield is located about 1 1/2 hours from the international airports at Hartford and Albany. The drive from NYC or Boston is about 2 1/2 hours (in reasonable traffic). The Bungalow is at 125 South Main Street (Rte. 7) within walking distance of Sheffield's town center. The Berkshires offer scenic and historical attractions, shopping and restaurants from fabulous to fast food. We are a short drive (about 15 minutes) to Ski Butternut or Catamount Ski areas and they both offer summer outdoor activities. Our neighbor Immediately south of us just across the lawn, is a country store /Café "The Blue Door". They stock basics for meal preparation, wine and beer. Up the road is "The Bridge” a very good family restaurant and it is adjacent to a reconstructed covered bridge and a canoe / kayak launch site on the Housatonic river. We are a 12 minute drive to Great Barrington with many restaurants, shopping and The Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center, Fairview Hospital and the revived Fair Grounds. There usually a POW-WOW in August. Several up scale restaurants are nearby in Great Barrington and Egremont. Approximately 20 minutes further up Rt. 7 you will come to Stockbridge, famous for the Red Lion Inn, the Norman Rockwell Museum and Chesterwood. Nearby is the town of Lee at Exit 2 of the Mass Pike ( I-90 ), a lovely village full of fun shops, very good restaurants. Our favorite dining spot for birthdays and anniversaries is Chez Noux. Downtown Lee is at Exit two on I90 (The Mass Pike) it is next door to the The Lee Outlets. Lenox hosts; Shakespeare & Co, The Mount, Tanglewood, Ventfort Hall Museum, Arrowhead (the former home of Herman Melville with the view that was the inspiration for “Moby Dick”), The Frelinghuysen Morris House & Studio and many shops and a variety of restaurants. For outdoor activities Sheffield offers the Appalachian Trail, Bash Bish Falls State Park, Mt Everett, Mt Washington, and the Housatonic River for fishing and kayak and canoe trips. Bicyclists, runners & motorcycle riders love the local scenic roads. Particularly Rt7 southbound along the Housatonic into Litchfield county CT. Other southern Berkshire towns offer many ponds, Lake Mansfield, Lake Garfield and York Lake State park are all very close by. Fall is the turkey, deer and black Bear hunting season as well as upland game bird season you can buy your appropriate licences at Sheffield's Town Hall! A short trip, about 6 miles south on Rt. 41 south, and you are in Connecticut for boating and fishing at Twin Lakes. Several preparatory schools are nearby; The Salisbury School is 7 miles, The Berkshire School is 7 1/2 miles, The Hotchkiss School is 12 miles away. For you gearheads Lime Rock Park is 11 miles south in Connecticut. Sheffield has several antiques shops including Susan Silver for fine quality English and Asian antiques, Painted Porch is across the road for country French and English items, Dovetail Antiques is just a bit north for clocks and the Great Barrington Antiques Center and Great Finds Antique Center are some of the group shops in the area. Nearly all of the surrounding towns and villages have at least two antique shops.
  • David and Phyllis were great hosts. They gave us a tour of the place when we arrived and were very friendly and welcoming. The place was clean and organized and just as it was pictured.

    Johna2016-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • The Bungalow was as advertised - very spacious open layout with 2 private bedrooms and separate bathroom and shower room. Our hosts had the fridge stocked for breakfast (eggs, bacon, bread, butter, jam) which was perfect for our young family - we loved being able to arrive late Friday and still have a low-key home style meal to kickoff the weekend. The hosts confirmed our expected arrival time day of and gave us a quick, efficient tour of the Bungalow when we checked in. They live in the main house next door with a dog and were very pleasant. The Bungalow has wireless internet which enabled us to use our cell phones while there (the coverage for T-Mobile was spotty in the Sheffield area). There's a nice convenience store / deli next door where we grabbed some ice cream and also food for a picnic. The town itself is small, but Great Barrington is only about 10 min. away, and there are many escapes in the area - a covered bridge, hiking near the Housitonic river. We made the trip up to Tanglewood for the Sunday afternoon BSO concert after checking out.

    Deric2015-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • David & Phyllis were great - home and friendly! The property was better than I expected from the outside. It looks exactly like the pictures; was super clean; and easy to find.

    Kurt2016-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • David and Phyllis were great hosts. The bungalow was beautiful and well equipped. We especially appreciated the breakfast fixings. It's located in the small strip of houses in town but not far from beautiful countryside and many beautiful hikes.

    Suzi2017-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • David and Phyllis could not have been nicer. The Bungalow is not that far from Great Barrington and while it is on a main road it isn't loud at all. The Bungalow was spotless when we arrived and even had food in the fridge for breakfast. While we were there the sink in the bathroom sprung a leak. It was fixed before we returned at the end of the day. I would definitely stay here again.

    Erica2016-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • The bungalow was perfectly situated to explore the area. The breakfast supplies (and perfectly stocked kitchen) were such a nice touch. If you want to cook while away, this place works well. There is plenty of information on the area available, wifi, tv, and a toasty spot to spend a winter weekend. David and Phyllis are responsive, and the place is super clean. Highly recommend for a central location in the Berkshires.

    Jenn2018-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • This place is wonderful! Roomy, cosy and has everything you need. We will be back.

    Isadora2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great place for us and our 3 teenage sons to stay for a ski weekend. Plenty of room for all 5 of us. The 2 beds and the pull out bed were all doubles. We brought an air mattress so each son would have their own bed. There was plenty of room for the air mattress. If you ski at Butternut just go up route 7 instead of back roads that your gps might suggest. Internet and TV was provided. Bacon and eggs were provided in the fridge. You can also walk next door to a country store that serves breakfast.

  • This is a beautiful, well-designed house. It is close to Great Barrington and other MA towns. We were there with our 3 young kids and had an awesome stay, relaxing after full days of skiing, cooking in nice dinners and mellowing out. There is an awesome river running behind the house that you can hear from the shower if you open the window That was awesome.

    Josh2017-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • This home provides a delightful and peaceful retreat. The house is beautifully appointed and furnished, with refined china, glasses and linens. It's set in a secluded clearing in the woods, with a stream babbling in the background, but is very conveniently located for nearby walks and restaurants. We couldn't recommend it more warmly, and hope to return!

    Katherine2015-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • The Serene Artist's house was indeed very secluded and quiet. The grounds are lovely as is the house. Juergen made us feel very welcome. He was very friendly. The area has very limited cellular service so the landline phones in the home were helpful for local calls. We enjoyed our stay in the Sheffield area.

    Midge2015-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • This is the second time we've stayed in Juergen's house and we absolutely loved the experience! The host made us feel welcome and answered all questions that came up in a responsive and attentive manner. The house itself is a gem, with an authentic artistic feel to it and a setting surrounded by nature. Our kids loved playing in the yard surrounding the house. Such a great getaway from busy urban lives! Highly recommended and can't wait to be back.

    Rumena2015-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • My wife & I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Berkshires! The house is extremely well cared for and provides a much needed respite from city life. Great dining nearby, lots of antiquing and plenty of alone time to fill up your day if desired.

    joe2014-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • Take advantage of Jeurgen's recommendations! We especially enjoyed meals at Prarie Whale & Stagecoach Hill Tavern (yep, at the end of the driveway, walk through the fence break and you're at the back door...bring a flashlight). We also enjoyed time at nearby Chesterwood, at MassMOCA & the Clark (Williamstown), and hiking Monument Mountain. A great visit in a comfortable, private setting with a lovely garden (& a hammock!)

    Kathy2017-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • We got married nearby and were so grateful we got to call this heavenly place home over our wedding weekend. It is a beautiful and serene spot, surrounded by gorgeous trees and gardens. We spent a while hanging out in the hammock outside, relaxing and soaking in the fall weather. The house itself is impeccably clean, comfortable, and well-stocked, with lovely art and furniture from around the world. We stayed here with our best friends, who have 2 little kiddos, and it was a perfect spot for a family. Our time here made our wedding and first days of marriage even more special. We highly recommend Juergen's home to anyone looking to getaway, relax, and spend time with loved ones.

  • Elisabeth’s place is gorgeous - she and Ricky are some of the warmest, most accommodating hosts and you can tell how much they care about the land, their visitors, and their space. The eggs, veggies, and other breakfast food waiting for us when we got in was delicious (and much of it comes straight from their own land), the space is gorgeous and plenty large enough for two, and they’re quick to help you navigate the area. A lovely time.

    Andrew2017-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • Elisabeth and Rickey house in the Berkshire is dreamy. The apartment is cozy, newly renovated, and Elisabeth and Rickey add perks such as great eggs, high-end tea and incredible local honey. Fully equipped kitchen. A romantic’s haven. You’ll be hard pressed find something comparable in the area, which is full of little adventures to be embarked on.

  • Looking for absolute quiet and comfort in a fabulous BNB getaway? It's in the SW corner of western Massachusetts. Welcome to this wonderful spot well off a country road and just a few miles from shops and sightseeing. You won't find better accommodations. And your hosts take great pride in ensuring that your stay is TOP SHELF. My wife and I are ready to go back now!

    Ronald2017-11-08T00:00:00Z
  • This place is just amazing!!! By the following day you'll wish you could stay there forever. Everything is brand new and includes all kinds of amenities such fresh eggs and veggies from their garden and charcoal for the grill. Plenty of fresh linens, towels and toiletries are provided. The fridge was stocked with tons of snacks, juice, coffee, milk, sparkling water, etc--it made us feel like we were in a bed-and-breakfast. The apartment is so beautiful it could be featured in an IKEA catalog. Every detail has been attended to. The barbecue area is perfect for enjoying a meal, relaxing and snapping a few photos. You also get plenty of privacy so it's great for couples that want a romantic getaway. Tips: At night, try to shoo away the bugs before entering the apartment so that they don't go in with you. For great views and photo ops, go to the marina at Twin Lakes, Hurlburt's Hill at Bartholomew Cobble, and the corn field surrounding the property. Rick and Elisabeth will give you more pointers.

  • Elisabeth and her husband Ricky were fantastic hosts. The space was as pictured and perfect for our weekend getaway. Bright, cheery, peaceful and cozy studio apartment in a quiet rural town, near the winter attractions of the Berkshires (skiing, Butternut, Mohawk, Catamount, snowshoeing) and close to the many private schools: Hotchkiss, IMS, Berkshire and Salisbury. It has a private entrance, a full bath, a kitchenette (best for light meals, such as breakfast), complimentary coffee, tea and water, and a queen-sized bed. Walk to town for breakfast or out into a peaceful garden and snowy woods.
This is a large yet cozy studio apartment with a comfy queen-sized bed, a kitchenette (stove, oven, toaster, coffee maker and small fridge) and a renovated bathroom with shower. We just repainted and upgraded the WiFi to a state-of-the-art system. The entrance is private; come and go as you please. The space is very quiet and opens onto a garden and acres of woods, ready for exploring. This is a convenient, affordable option when visiting the many Berkshires attractions like skiing, hiking, biking or cultural centers like Tanglewood, Lime Rock, Shakespeare & Co, or visiting one of the many nearby boarding schools: Hotchkiss, Salisbury, Berkshire, IMS. PLEASE NOTE: if you would like to use the air mattress (the 2nd bed), please make your reservation as a party of three.

  • Laurie and Michael are super hosts. The place is clean, comfortable and private. It is a one room apartment with a kitchenette, located above the garage. They let my store my bike in a portion of the garage. I saw them from time to time (I stayed a week) and they always asked if I needed anything.

    Paul2017-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • Lauries place looks like in the pictures here on airbnb. Her apartment has everything you need and then some. We found communication with the hostess very easy. Unfortunatly we never met Laurie in person but she seems to be a very nice and easy going person. The bed was comfy, the water pressure good and the apartment really clean. We enjoyed our (short) stay and recommend Lauries place to anyone. Thank you Laurie for hosting us!

  • Laurie's place is a gem, a one-room, very private, clean, comfortable space above their garage. They considered all of our needs, respected our privacy, but were available to offer us help and advice. She and her husband are terrific, fun people and one of the highlights of our trip was an evening spent with them in their beautiful back yard. The location is convenient to the southern Berkshires, but the surrounding towns in CT are equally enjoyable.

3 bd room house in winter wonderland with fireplace and on 24 acres: with porch overlooking pond with swimming hole and brook: a nature lover's dream in the summer and nestled in the quiet winter woods so close to skiing and restaurants and theater in GB with Tanglewood and Summerstock throughout the summer. Only 2.5 hours from NYC. pure peace and quiet yet a stones throw from everything.
A three bedroom house, den and large living and dining area. One bedroom has a queen, the other a full and the other a twin. There is bathroom upstairs with tub and the bathroom downstairs has a stall shower. The den has a futon. There is cable TV and wifi and a sound system throughout the house. There is a screened in porch and a porch that overlooks the pond and the woods and eastern ski.
We are located in the Southern Berkshires 15 minutes from Butternut and Catamount ski areas, wonderful restaurants in Great Barrington, amazing hiking and cultural events.
  • Absolutely amazing setting way beyond what the pictures can describe. Harry's home is beautiful, comfortable, and fully stocked. Harry himself was a fantastic host, highly responsive and allowed us to check in early and check out late to accommodate our child's nap time. Highly recommend this listing.

  • Great place. Beautiful property. Especially loved the outdoor patios. Exactly what we were looking for when escaping NYC for a bit.

    Ross2017-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Our first experience with Airbnb was wonderful. The house was exactly what we wanted and provided everything as advertised. The property was magical allowing for lots of outdoor fun for our kids and our dog. Its not always easy to find pet friendly vacation spots and this one was ideal. The indoor hot tub was an extra treat that soothed sore muscles after days of hiking. Our hosts were attentive and made sure we had everything we needed for our stay. We would absolutely return for future Berkshire getaways.

  • We loved our stay in this beautiful home! It was the perfect getaway from the city. The home had the most amazing trail in the back yard and it was simply lovely. The rooms were well decorated and the beds extremely comfortable! It is also very close to some great skiing for the little ones. We can't wait to come back. The host was nice and very kind. Thank you!

    kevin2016-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely, comfortable, clean home. A perfect respite. We enjoyed the screened in porch for having dinner without having to fight off the mosquitoes. Our favorite part was sitting on the back porch watching the butterflies and hummingbirds in the butterfly bush. The kitchen was well-stocked for serious cooks, too.

    Mary2017-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful home! It was as advertised and Harry was an excellent host and very easy to get in touch with. Large fireplace and hot tub were great. It was not far from skiing and nearby shops.

  • We had such a wonderful time at Harry's beautiful Berkshire's home. We traveled with two other couples for a 4th of July weekend getaway. The setting of the house is simply amazing - it's surrounded by acres of woods (that you can hike in!), a creek, and a pond. There are so many spaces in the house for hanging out: the huge wrap-around porch, the screened dining room in back, the big living room. Even though it was July, we made a fire one night! The decor and style of the house are lovely too. We really hope to return one day.

    Ben & Emily2016-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • My friends and I had a fantastic time at Harry's place! The house and land is more beautiful than the photos convey, and we had a great weekend of grilling and hiking and visiting a nearby lake. The house also had great linens and plenty of towels, which cannot always be said for rentals! The air conditioning was also really wonderful, which was crucial. The only thing I would say to those considering staying is that if you have small children (we had 3 under 2 with us) there are stairs to be mindful of, and a few little things like a dishwasher with a quirky rack that makes handling kiddos and getting things done a bit challenging, so I'd recommend always having more adults than kids here to have somebody who can be watching curious climbers, and if you have a baby gate or two of your own to bring that would be a good idea. If you're going to be there in Summer I'd also recommend getting some bug-repelling candles for eating out on the patio (which is delightful!). It was the hottest and most humid weekend of the year during our stay and we each got a few bug bites in the evenings, but nothing crazy. We were here in July and cannot wait to book another trip during Fall foliage, and probably snowy Winter as well!

Our private cabin is close to all Berkshire cultural attractions and outdoor activities while nestled on an quiet countryside organic farm. It's a great base for exploration, a romantic hideaway, or a quiet writing retreat. PLEASE keep in mind at this time of year that weather can be a significant factor to consider, so review the listing and message or call with questions. For 1 three, to too 9, three o nin too.
Not really camping... The farm's cabin has been spiffed up for guests with a comfy double bed, a window seat and a small table for writing or just coffee. This one room cabin on short stilts sits slightly uphill from the farmstead. Fully screened, (bring your sleeping bag or comforter for brisk fall nights) it's a wonderful, quiet perch from which to hear, smell, watch and enjoy farm life. Though you can recharge your laptop or phone, there's no internet connectivity, so your retreat won't be interrupted by squawks, or chirps, except from our rooster, and real, live crickets and tree frogs. The farmhouse is nearby (50 yards), but the cabin is wonderfully private. The cabin's own fire pit and charcoal grill are just outside the door. Stroll the farm road, hike the maintained Nature Conservancy trail right next to the farm, or just chill in your hideaway. It's cozy and rustic--it's a farm!--with a wonderful vibe. If field mice, a lowing cow in a nearby field, poison ivy, spiders, grass soaked in morning dew, dogs, a hooting owl or coyote's howl cause you consternation, this is decidedly not for you. Bathroom is in the main farmhouse (Knock on the door. Don't mind the barking dog.) The cabin has no running water. (Natch, water's available in the house.) Dine out at any of the numerous, great south county eateries: There's a great cafe four minutes away for cappuccino, muffins or a breakfast sannie and a dozen terrific restaurants within 20 minutes. ...Or... Bring your own gear (camp stove, pan and dishes) to prep and cook your meal at the fire pit--that's the 'rough' camping part! We can provide materials if you need: firewood, charcoal, organic pasture-raised meats, organic veggies, eggs, etc. as seasonally available (separate charges). This retreat is perfect for couples and solo adventurers.
  • My boyfriend and I had a wonderful stay at Dominic's farm. This is the real deal if you are looking for a rustic and authentic experience on a cozy farm tucked away in the Berkshires. Dom was a great host, providing great tips of the area from activities to food.

We didn’t interact much because of schedules but we did get to talk to Grace briefly and it was obvious she wanted us to be comfortable. She went out of her way to give us some ideas of things to do in the area. Would definitely stay again!

The Juliet Suite is the largest and most luxurious of the three suites in AppleCottage on Wolfe Spring organic farm. ( more in westwind house) Juliet has a sitting room, jet tub, smart tv, wi-fi and extra beds. Great location to get to Tanglewood, Sharon Playhouse, the Appalachian trail, Bartholomew's Cobble, Shakespeare and Co., award winning restaurants, waterfalls, kayaking and swimming , OR a great place to rest and enjoy the quiet. Sunsets, stargazing and wildlife sightings included.
The Juliet Suite looks out over the orchard and pasture on Wolfe Spring Farm, a working organic farm in bucolic Sheffield. A great location to get to Tanglewood, Sharon Playhouse, the appalachian trail, Bartholomew's Cobble, Shakespeare and Company, Great Barrington and Mahaiwe Theatre OR stay on the farm and hike, bike, fish, canoe or pick fruit.
There are six farms on one side of our four mile road, all connecting in the back to provide great walks and access to the river. On the other side of the road are mountain trails and views. We are close to all the Berkshire attractions but we are also a place where you can be completely Alone.
  • June and Jim did a wonderful job to make me and my mom feel welcome. The decor, the farm fresh eggs, and personal tour to the Wolfe Spring Farm all added so much to our stay there. They are exceptionally generous and kind, the sweetest host you could ever ask for!

    Kristi2015-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • The Juliet Suite at Apple Cottage was a charming, comfortable accommodation. Lots of lovely details - soft, thick towels, plush robes, extra toiletries - show a level of thoughtfulness that is unusual for a room at this price. We enjoyed being able to have our coffee and breakfast early, and were sorry it was a little too chilly have it on the terrific deck. June met us on arrival and provided restaurant recommendations and showed us around. The location is an easy drive to lots of great hiking spots and the town of Gt. Barrington. I think it'd be fun to rent the whole house (3 bedrooms) with friends/family. This is a working farm with cows, so you should be comfortable with that.

  • Everything was great! The Apple Cottage was very comfortable. We needed to check-in late and we especially appreciated June's clear instructions and the ease of checking in without needing to coordinate schedules. The farm is beautiful, great location, and delicious fresh eggs. Would love to come again!

The space is th bottom floor of the home, but has a separate entrance. There is plenty of privacy. The home is impeccably clean, and tidy. Beautifully and comfortably furnished. The bathroom and the shower were the best! Spa quality shower, and a sauna that we did not get the chance to use. A sleek and spacious residence set atop a treasured textile design studio, surrounded by serene river run fields and mountain views. A grand chefs kitchen balances an indoor/outside living space with a glass garage door opening to an outdoor oasis. Master bedroom has it's own sun porch and skylighted bath. Stylized Bed 2 w/bath en-suite. Bed 3's private 'tower' and Bed's 4's lofted, open layout offer desired flexibility. Creative and Modern - when you are here, you want to be nowhere else.
  • Patrick’s place is a perfection - stylish, clean, thoughtfully considered, with a chef’s dream of a kitchen, good furniture, beautiful objects, and a happy, airtight light-filled space surrounded by windows with expansive views of surrounding trees and fields. Great Barrington is a short hop away, Hudson isn’t far, with amazing provisions from Guido’s (a gourmet market 5 min away) we hardly left, even with beautiful weather. Could not recommend more highly.

    Ben2017-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved the loft and would absolutely recommend it to others. The space was beautiful and as well done as the pictures were, we still didn't feel they did it justice. We loved the decor and the energy and my husband, a chef, loved the kitchen. It was easy for us to serve up Thanksgiving dinner and cook for friends. Five minutes or less drive to Great Barrington with great shopping. We will definitely come back and try this in the summer - the big spacious porch and door you can open from the living room will be amazing for summer days and nights. Three big spacious bedrooms and the master suite is like a luxury suite in a hotel. Incredible surroundings and sunsets- zero complaints :)

  • Merle and Karen made our stay an extra special one. Their charming home is ideally positioned in a quiet and bucolic area surrounded by farmland. Merle and Karen were especially warm and hospitable, and graciously extended themselves to ensure that our stay was both a comfortable and enjoyable one. Our room and bathroom were spacious, and the room included free Wi-Fi and a television and DVD player (plus access to the hosts' own library of over 400 DVDs to choose from). We had a delicious breakfast, which was prepared with Karen's TLC; yummy! We'll definitely stay at Buttonwood again when we return to the Berkshires.

  • OMG - the house is fabulous and they are absolutely the best hosts. We couldn't have felt more catered to. The grounds are beautiful and our only regret was that we only booked one night and could have stayed much longer. We are absolutely planning to return!

  • Merle and Karen were wonderful. The best thing about Buttonwood is that it's not an official Bed & Breakfast, just a beautiful country house that these two wonderful people occasionally open to guests and run with the attentiveness and service you would expect at a BnB. The room was cozy and kept cool with air conditioning. The property was gorgeous and relaxing. And, as mentioned in many other reviews, the breakfast was outstanding. My girlfriend and I felt like royalty as we were served a large hearty breakfast in the dining room. This attentiveness is something you don't get at a $200/night hotel. It's what makes Airbnb special, and what makes Merle and Karen exceptional.

    CJ2016-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • Merle and Karen were very kind and welcoming, everything was very nice. We couldn't have asked for a better stay. The house is beautiful and the breakfast was excellent. The room was very nice and private as well.

  • The Varneys were the most welcoming, thoughtful, and generous hosts. They greeted us with a glass of wine, a fire, and as much conversation as we wanted (and we wanted it with them! Smart, charming, funny people). Their house is a historic gem, well worth visiting in and of itself!

    Leslie2015-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • We've enjoyed staying with Merle and Karen a few times now. The property is wonderful and the location is superb, but Merle and Karen are the best thing about it. They have gone overboard to accomodate us in so many ways we can't begin to thank them enough. You will have a wonderful stay and be well cared for.

    Jeffrey2015-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • Merle and Karen welcomed us like family, like they always do. It was another wonderful stay!

    Jeffrey2015-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • My parents stayed in this room, while my wife and I took the Nantucket suite. Merle and his wife Karen really went out of their way to make sure that my parents were comfortable and had a wonderful trip. I really enjoyed getting to know them both and would definitely recommend them as hosts.

At Apple Cottage on Wolfe Spring Farm, enjoy the quiet and privacy of your own groomed ski trails through 54 acres of fields and woods, then return to the fireside or the deep jet tub. The cottage is a charming 2015 renovation of an 1840 farm house.
We provide charm, comfort and cleanliness and we provide for every little need. The pantry is stocked with staples and you will find our farm fresh eggs in the fridge.
Sheffield is famous for its open space and outdoor experiences. We are 10 minutes away from Great Barrington (Smithsonians Best Small Town USA 2012) and twenty minutes from the Norman Rockwell Museum, Tanglewood, the Berkshire Theatre Festival and Shakespeare and Company.
  • Apple cottage is a lovely and spacious farm house feeling place. June met us there and showed us around the house pointing out the things we should know. She had a binder filled with restaurants and activities to do in the area. She provided fresh eggs from her chickens and had just the right things in the fridge to make our stay comfortable and welcoming. Clean, orderly, lots of natural light. Thanks June! I hope to return. Roz

  • This is our 2nd visit to Apple Cottage and it was just as wonderful as the first. June and Jim are fantastic hosts, surprising us each morning with fresh eggs and organic raspberries from the farm. The kids helped June one morning with some of the farm chores, which was a huge hit. We had car trouble while on vacation and Jim went way above and beyond to help. Apple cottage is clean, spacious and comfortable with plenty of room for families. The kitchen is well-appointed and has everything you'd need to eat in if you don't want to take advantage of the great restaurants nearby. The beds are extremely comfortable with cozy comforters for chilly nights and lots of pillows. We highly recommend Apple Cottage!

    Holly2017-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at the Apple Cottage for 3 nights in mid-August while attending the wedding of niece. We enjoyed our stay immensely. The cottage is an interesting mix of old and new, and was well equipped for our needs. The owners, June and Jim, are very friendly and easy to talk to. The farm and surrounding Berkshires countryside is beautiful. My wife and I are “nature” people—I look for birds and she looks for flowers. August is not the best time for birding, but I still heard or saw an interesting mix of birds. My wife, however, logged almost 60 types of wildflowers on our walk from the farm to the river! We would not hesitate to come here again and highly recommend it to anyone needing a base of operations for visiting the Berkshires.

    Steve2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay. The hosts are great, the cottage is fantastic. The bedding is top quality. The setting is peaceful and quiet. It was perfect.

    Dean2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • The Apple cottage exceeded our high expectations and June and Jim could not have been more wonderful hosts. From the moment we pulled into the farm, we could tell that this was a special place. The house has been restored with such craftsmanship and attention to detail that you might feel like you are in a design magazine or a boutique hotel. We were in the Berkshires for a wedding and comfortably fit 8 adults in the house but could have squeezed in a couple more. The beds are extremely comfortable and layout of the house is both spacious and cozy. Our only regret was that we couldn't stay for longer. June and Jim were such warm and welcoming people. They immediately made us feel comfortable and situated. Communication was easy throughout. They really went above and beyond as hosts by not only bringing us fresh picked rasberries and eggs each morning, but also by helping us to solve a major wedding crafting emergency. I can not recommend this airbnb highly enough for a visit to the Berkshires. You will not be disappointed.

    Julia2016-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • Great shared space for gathering. Fresh eggs from the farm. Quiet.

    Scott2017-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at Apple Cottage! It was snowing outside yet the house was warm and cozy and immaculately clean. We expected it to be on the small side for our family of four but it was surprisingly spacious. Every room was designed with comfort in mind, with charming details everywhere and amenities (such as tiny shampoo & conditioner bottles, razors and make-up remover cloths) in every bathroom. We particularly enjoyed the kitchen with it's 6 (or more?) burner chef's stove and every pot, pan, kitchen tool and serving platter we could possibly require. We even used the grill one night and found it to be excellent. Best of all were the farm fresh eggs that Jim brought us. It's clear that June & Jim take the comfort of their guests very seriously. We're already planning our next escape to Apple Cottage.

    Holly2017-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • What a great weekend! Jim and June are amazing and the house is incredible. We are definitely coming back with a bigger group next time and their hospitality was exceptional. We had farm fresh eggs, got to pick apples, raspberries and the kids got to feed the cows. If you want a great Berkshires weekend, go see Jim and June! Thanks again!

We are close to skiing (Butternut is 20 minutes away and Catamount is 10 minutes away) and hiking (AT access a mile away), art, culture and great dining (Great Barrington, Stockbridge, Tanglewood to name a few). Racebrook Lodge is just a mile down the road. Plus we are very close to Berkshire School (1 mile), Salisbury School (10 miles) and Hotchkiss School (12 miles). A great place for couples and families.
The open floor plan, updated kitchen and comfortable living room make this a great place to relax with friends and family.
  • What a fabulous, cozy, and relaxing home! Whether you are looking for a quiet place to stay in the Berkshires or an alternative to staying at the lodge down the road, Kari's place is perfect! Our friends were getting married at Race Brook Lodge, so we were looking for an alternative place to stay with my 1 year old son and my parents and Kari's place has got it all! Kari was an amazing host. She really made sure our stay was so comfortable. Kari's home is minutes from great restaurants, breweries, and shops too! Thanks again Kari for a wonderful stay!

  • This was a beautiful, well-appointed home in a lovely location. We stayed for a wedding at the Race Brook Lodge, which is just down the street. The house is family friendly with a great floor plan. Kari was a pleasure to communicate with and was very prompt in response to questions. I would highly recommend this rental for anyone traveling to the Berkshires.

  • Baby friendly place! There was a crib, toys and a high chair. I had asked about a crock pot and it was put out on the counter. All great tools in the kitchen. The kitchen was beautiful and everything was clean. Love how the pull out bed was made for us. We were exhausted when we entered and just wanted to get to bed. The blankets were warm and everything was inviting. I can’t wait to return! We went skiing in butternut and it was convenient. We did last minute booking and Kari was very responsive and even email questions she was available. Thank you for sharing your home! It made our Christmas very special! Our first white Christmas! Look forward returning again!

High on the slopes of Race Mountain, this spacious 4-bedroom villa offers sweeping east-facing views. In the early hours, the house floods with morning light and sunrises are spectacular. The inviting, creative design invokes a true sense of retreat.
The open floor plan centers on a great room, with cathedral ceilings, large fireplace, sunken seating area, and generous windows facing the eastern views. Reclining sofas are just asking to be lounged on in front of a crackling fire. The well-appointed kitchen easily accommodates the hustle and bustle of preparing meals for large gatherings- we’ve had a wonderful time testing that out! The dining table seats 10. Four bright, comfortably furnished bedrooms offer flexible sleeping options. 3 of the rooms can be configured with a king bed or two twins. Crisp bedding and uncluttered spaces allow for a deeply relaxing night of sleep. Three full bathrooms, including one with a luxurious Japanese-style cedar soaking tub, all have tile floors and thoughtful lighting. Special touches are sprinkled throughout the house, from the family-heirloom Steinway baby grand piano to the handmade copper chandelier above the dining table. Perhaps best of all, climb a ladder, treehouse-style, from the airy common area on the second floor to reach the loft. Wall-to-wall cushions invite cuddling, movie watching or the creation of an imaginary kid’s fort. Two decks, one on each level, and a screened porch provide space to entertain in the fresh air or to look out at the stars. The house comfortably sleeps 15 people.
The house is nestled in the southern Berkshires, known as "America's Premier Cultural Resort." Set on an 85 acre property, the Race Mountain House is surrounded by forest. Head out the back door for an incredible network of hiking trails; the Appalachian trail is right nearby and a short hike leads to Race Brook Falls. Though the Mountain House is set back privately, our affiliation with Race Brook Lodge, just down the hill, provides guests with easy access to a swimming pool and other hotel amenities, while the adjacent Stagecoach tavern offers a great nearby option for fine dining. Vibrant gatherings, workshops, and classes occur in Race Brook Lodge’s unique gathering spaces and on the permaculture-based Race Brook Farm. Nearby Great Barrington is the hub of southern Berkshire County, and the house is a short, scenic drive to the best of the Berkshire's attractions.
  • We felt warmly welcomed by Casey and thoroughly enjoyed every moment in the lovely mountain home. Walking from almost any room to the decks with incredibly beautiful mountain views was delightful. The home was comfortable and very well furnished.

  • Race Mountain House is beautiful. Tucked away in the woods up a long winding drive, the house offers peace and quiet, fresh air, wilderness views, hiking nearby, and plenty of rustic charm. The house is stocked with pots and pans and had more than enough room for our group of 12. Casey was a gracious host, who maintains a beautiful property and made us feel welcome.

  • We were a group of 10 friends and we really enjoyed 2 nights here. The house is nicely decorated in exotic mood (oriental) and located nearby beautiful sceneries like Mt. Everett state reservation. The host Casey was very responsive and you can easily find extra household goods you may need - including cooking tools, towels and blankets. (We also took advantage of the fireplace and barbecue grill :)

    Hong2017-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • The house is exactly as pictured. Beds are comfortable. The outside temperature was really cold when we were there, and the firewood and extra blankets provided by the home owner came in very handy. A responsive host and a a quiet place for a family getaway.

  • James went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable. He clearly loves hosting – and does a terrific job. James is deep into the arts in the area, being a highly respected actor and director himself, and was generous with his recommendations.

  • Our stay in Sheffield was as good as it gets! James was so friendly, kind, and responsive, and his lovely 1800s farmhouse was gorgeous. The room, and our little private area, was clean and well-kept, and the bed, in particular, was super comfortable. We stayed in Sheffield on one of the coldest nights of the year so far, but we were quite warm and cozy. The location is close to the city center, and James was great about giving recommendations on where to go, where to eat, etc. My boyfriend and I could not have been happier with our entire experience at James's home; it truly was top-notch and we would not hesitate to stay there again if opportunity allows.

    Sara2017-11-12T00:00:00Z
  • James went above and beyond by greeting us late in the evening after our impromptu visit to Great Barrington. Not being familiar with the area James gave us simple directions to his special home and recommended a great local breakfast place. The room was spacious with all amenities...small fridge, microwave, internet, TV and private bathroom and shower. There was bottled water, coffee for the making and yogurt to get us started in the morning. James also left a loaf of fresh grain bread in the kitchen area as he was not around upon our departure. We said hello to his 2 cute but shy Cocker Spaniels and we're on our way. Thanks for a perfect stay James!

    Paddy2016-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at James' house. James is a great host! He was very welcoming and warm. The area is stunning and there are lots of great spots to explore! Our stay was short, as we traveled to the Berkshires for a friend's wedding, but we would love to come back to explore the area some more. I highly recommend this lovely spot!

    Sarah2017-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • We felt very welcome as soon as we came in; James was very friendly and showed us around the house and our space and encouraged us to use it to suit our needs. The house was clean and the neighborhood was very nice, and our rooms were spacious, private to suit our needs, and well stocked with tea, orange juice, and breakfast foods. The dogs were also friendly and cute :) Overall a very enjoyable stay, and we would definitely come back again!

    Robyn2016-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • We just returned from a whirlwind trip to the Berkshires, including a quick 24-hour stay at James' beautiful home. From the outset, James communicated regularly with us and was incredibly flexible with our crazy schedules. He is a great, accommodating host! His home is picturesque, tucked away in a wooded area a few miles south of Great Barrington (quaint shopping/dining area). He has an expansive property, with a back deck -- great for relaxing after hours on the road! The guest suite is perfect -- complete with a private bedroom and bathroom, and closet/office area with a fridge and coffee-maker. If we make it back to this beautiful area of the country, we would stay at James' home again in a heartbeat. Highly recommended!

  • A group of us, eight family members and friends, stayed over at Boardman View for an extended four-day weekend, and absolutely enjoyed the visit. The house is classic New England and beautifully furnished. Eight of us slept comfortably in four rooms. The kitchen is large eat-in and very easy to work in. Unfortunately the kitchen is equipped with electric range. For serious cook it would be a bit of a challenge. Still it has excellent work space and large area for family members to be in the kitchen together. We also enjoyed the fire pit up the slope in the back of the house. Some of us actually built a fire and made S'mores one night. Overall it was a very pleasant stay.

  • My husband and I only stayed here for one night, but Michele was very hospitable. She sent us a very detailed email about great suggestions in the area and was very flexible on checkout time. We were in and out a lot so didn't get to meet face to face, but felt very welcomed and informed non the less. Michele left us homemade cupcakes that her friend had made on the kitchen counter along with a lovely note the morning of our departure. I would highly recommend staying here!

Her house is very cozy and a perfect place to relax and feel at ease, and she gave us lots of privacy. The location is also very easy to reach. Her adorable dog helped to feel us very welcome.

  • This is a lovely home, beautifully renovated and appointed, secluded but within an easy drive of everything. A perfect getaway. We’d stay here again in a heartbeat. Thanks, Elle.

  • Great location and a beautiful house... definitely worth checking out! Outdoor fireplace was great as well as the master bedroom shower!

  • Awesome stay!! We spent 3 days in the house and went skiing at Caramount. Perfect!!the house was spanking clean and brand new. the heat works great ( it was cold outside in December, but toasty inside!) One thing i would have liked to know is that the bedrooms are one on each floor ( my daughter was a bit scared of sleeping on the first floor when we were upstairs). Also the first floor bedroom is quite small, but for a ski trip it doesn't matter.! the kitchen is just perfect with beautiful views of nature and state of the art appliances (including a dishwasher), plus great counter space and a nice dinner table. We spent most of our time there and it was a pleasure to cook!! Also very private . We loved it!!

  • We had a great stay in the Berkshires and much of it due to your lovely, very clean, comfortable, well thought out design. Great kitchen and upstairs bathroom. We loved the heated breezeway- perfectly New England. The location was quiet with an easy drive to Great Barrington. Thanks very much.

  • A lovely space in the Berkshires. Very clean, cozy, and well decorated rooms. The kitchen was spacious, well stocked and June made such an effort to go the extra mile and provide fresh eggs, rasberries, and other goodies. Very thoughtful! June was very responsive when I had a question. A great experience and stay. I highly recommend this place and plan to go back there myself very soon.

  • Rustic charm with a great kitchen for making you own meals. It was great to eat breakfast outside while watching the cows eat theirs. The farm fresh eggs were fantastic, and the seasonal fruit and berries made you want to eat them with every meal, which we did! It was really important to us that the home was pet free, and it truly was. Can't wait to come back next year.

  • We felt wonderfully welcomed at Apple Cottage, complete with fresh rasberries, eggs, and yogurt in the frig. The space was just as described; the beds, comfortable. We would stay there again for sure.

  • 2nd time here in 6 weeks - can you tell I love it? But this time was made extra special with our Saturday night bonfire, smores roasting, local beer & whiskey sharing - country livin' at its best. Plus my best friend can't get over the farm fresh eggs - he keeps showing everyone how rich of a color the yolk is compared to store bought ones. This will forever be my Berkshires stay as long as it's available.

    Vanessa2015-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • June hosted us at her organic farm, in a newly renovated (by her and her family) 3 br house. The lodgings were impeccably clean. The renovation was an amazing, artistic blend of country and urban chic. Very comfortable beds and cozy rooms, thoughtfully stocked for our comfort and convenience. We had the run of the large, new stainless steel farmer's kitchen, and took advantage of it to cook eggs thoughtfully provided by the resident hens. June and her husband are warm, open, friendly and interesting. This could not have been a better experience. I hope to get back out their way so I can get to know them a little better. A 5 star experience! (And the airB&B photos don't begin to do justice to this lovely home.) Thanks, June.

  • Great place to stay to escape from the city. Fresh berries and eggs from the chickens for breakfast, and a view of horses grazing in the pasture next door from the farmhouse. The family running the place is super nice. Close to a local distillery and a local brewery; not too far from Great Barrington. Would definitely stay there again.

  • We had an excellent stay at Merle and Karen's. We came with our two young kids and shared a two room suite. The pool was terrific. The breakfasts spectacular. Merle made a fire every night for the kids to make smores. This exceeded our expectations and highly recommend this B and B. You will be happy.

  • Merle ad Karen were very gracious and thoughtful hosts. Their home was beautiful and the warm breakfasts were excellent, even home made cheese biscuits! The Buttonwood Suite was spacious and very comfortable. I definitely would stay again

  • We had an excellent stay in the Nantucket Suite at Buttonwood. Hosts Merle and Karen were very accommodating. The property and the house are beautifully maintained and most comfortable. We didn't realize breakfast was included and we were very pleased with the excellent fare we were provided both mornings. We highly recommend Buttonwood to anyone with a reason to stay in the Great Barrington area.

  • I can't say enough positive things about my stay with Merle and his lovely wife Karen. They were both really warm and interesting people. The house and accommodations well exceeded my expectations, and Merle and Karen went above and beyond to ensure that we enjoyed our stay. Buttonwood will definitely be on my radar next time I return to the Berkshires.

  • Karen and Merle are great hosts! The went above and beyond to make us comfortable in their home. We stayed with our two children during a snowy weekend in Feb. Karen even baked cookies for our kids!

  • Merle and Karen truly made me and my wife feel at home while staying with them on a beautiful fall weekend. From the gracious welcome to the delicious breakfast, it was truly a pleasure to be invited into their home. We will certainly be back next time we visit the Berkshires! I would, without hesitation, recommend Buttonwood to anyone visiting the area.

  • As always, our visit to Karen and Merle's was wonderful. We stayed with our two kids and our small dog. We enjoyed breakfast on their screened in porch. Our kids swam in their pool and our dog frolicked on their beautiful property. They are warm and welcoming hosts and their home feels like an extension of ours. Looking forward to seeing them again!

The House Among Trees is a beautiful, secluded property conveniently located next to Butternut and Catamount ski slopes. The mid-century modern 3-bedroom home is equipped with all amenities to offer a truly relaxing experience you can share with your family and friends. Appalachian trails offer views of the magical Berkshire landscape. At an active day we love relaxing in our outdoor sauna. For shopping, dining and entertainment visit nearby town of Great Barrington and Stockbridge.
The house is built in 1977 and carries some of the mid century flavor of clean lines and the charm of natural materials. With skylights in the living room and plenty of windows throughout the house, you feel one with nature that surrounds the house. The grounds are plentiful with tall evergreens. Enjoy the sauna or take a walk down the path to the clearing downhill. Enjoy an open fire, roast marshmallows, while watching the stars. Being at this beautiful mountain side offers year-round hiking opportunities. The interior of the house has 2 floors. The first floor has a large combined living and dining area, furnished with a modern yet cozy feel. The kitchen is right off the dining area. The master bedroom is located downstairs and has a queen bed, desk and leather chair, and a lounge chair if you want some alone time to read. The large bathroom is also downstairs, and has a relaxing Jacuzzi tub. The 2nd floor has 2 bedrooms and a small bathroom. The smaller bedroom has a queen bed with plenty of closet space. The larger bedroom has a bunk bed and a walk in closet. The closet has a full size air mattress and a travel crib. The room also has a single futon chair that converts into a single mattress.
There are great trails, excellent roads for biking and lakes to enjoy. Few farms in the area offer locally grown produce. Norman Rockwell museum is a must, while our favorite place to lunch and pick up few snacks is Blue Door, located with 10 min drive from the house. Heading North East will let you explore endless number of amazing Antique Shops.
  • Remote but close to town. A great weekend getaway!

    Meryl2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • Just stayed here for Thanksgiving weekend with my wife, new baby, brother, and sister in law, and we loved the house. The house is beautiful, especially the main room which is a double height space, as well as being smartly decorated. The fireplace was key to a super cozy weekend, and the adjacent couch, carpet, and lounge chair are very comfortable. Actually, everything in the house is very comfortable, as well as clean and tidy. The kitchen opens onto the main space and has everything you need to cook a nice meal. We were able to cook our thanksgiving dinner without any issue, as well as all of our other meals. The house is at the base of Mt Everett, so close that looking out past the back deck, you can see steep grade change, which offers some fun exploring right near the house. The Appalachian Trail goes right over the mountain, and we drove up to the parking area on the mountain and then hiked up to the summit, which was a lot of fun and offered beautiful views. The whole surrounding area is quite beautiful, spotted with rolling hills, mountains, farms, and small towns. Great Barrington is a great little town and is only 15 minutes away. We really had a fantastic stay at this house, and I would not hesitate to recommend it!

  • My three girlfriends and I came to this home for our weekend getaway from the city. It was above our expectations. The home was spacious and beautiful, but cozy at the same time. We even got to roast some marshmallows over a fire in their fire pit! It was clean, the communication with the host was so quick and helpful, and we just absolutely loved our stay. The location couldn't have been better -- near hiking, foliage, adorable towns, antiques, and beautiful drives. I would absolutely recommend staying here to anyone wishing to have an amazing getaway surrounded by a forest!

  • My family of six guests enjoyed our week's stay here. The house is comfortable, clean, quiet, and nestled in pleasant woods. If you are looking for a restful get-away, this would be a great place. The hosts were very polite and conscientious. From this secluded location, you can easily hop into Great Barrington or up to Stockbridge and Lenox. The small private lake a hundred yards or so away is a nice amenity for swimming or paddling a canoe. Three thumbs up!

  • It's been nearly a week since I stayed and I'm day dreaming about that bed and the peace & quiet. How I wish I were there with a cup of tea, listening to the rain and all bundled up with a book. When you live in the city, this is the kind of place you fantasize escaping to - one where there are lots of wide open spaces, fresh, clean air, and healthy food. Plus people who are genuinely nice and relaxed but not in the inefficient sort of way. Treat yourself and come during the week when you are likely to have the house all to yourself. You'll be glad you did.

    Vanessa2016-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • Well...we (me & the wife) had a great time! Beautiful grounds; a working family farm replete with livestock & crops. The accommodations were comfortable, spacious, and lovely. I love to cook and took advantage of the great kitchen. Overall, in terms of the material comforts, things were superb. Nevertheless, the best part of the stay was our hosts. June & Jim are gracious, warm, welcoming, and very funny... again, I can't say enough how pleasant our stay was, and we feel as though we left after having made some new & good friends. We're definitely coming back! Thanks you two!

    Martin2016-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • Couldn't be better! It was obvious from the condition of the property and the many "extras" our host provided (fresh eggs, freshly picked raspberries, excellent coffee, free upgrade to an open suite, etc.) that she took great pride in her property and put a lot of effort into making her guests feel welcome. My wife and I were blown away by how great this stay was and all the unexpected pleasures. We HIGHLY recommend this property!

    Ronn2015-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • As anticipated, this repeat visit was extraordinary. Sometimes when you love a place, you can remember it with a fond haze that reality can have a hard time living up to. Not so here. The house is immaculate, well-appointed, lovely. The shared kitchen is to die for. And it's stocked with fresh eggs from the organic farm, and all the essentials so you can cook to your heart's content. There are 3 bedrooms, each with a private bath. LR, DR, kitchen are shared. I have always enjoyed the guests that have shared with me. The hosts live in another property on the farm, so you can have as much privacy or companionship as you want. June and Jim are warm, welcoming, kind, funny and smart. You'll want to have some conversation. This location is so quiet that you may find yourself startled when a car goes down the road. I'm already checking my calendar to see when I can book a return.
