I used to live two doors down from Verti. I love this place. It's a 24hour convenience store/tiny grocery store with a great grill/kitchen. My favorite meal from here is a french fry poboy and a veggie burger poboy (i eat half of each and save half for later) with some mac and cheese. And a few 16oz drinks from the cooler and a pint of ice cream from the freezer to finish things off. Great place to stop on the way home from the Quarter.

Fastest and friendliest service for getting around may already be on your phone. Both Uber and Lyft are pretty active in this area. Drivers are nearly always just minutes away.

The new streetcar line has a stop just four blocks from my place -- at St. Claude and Elysian Fields. A great place to start when you want to explore the city. The collapse of the Hard Rock Cafe Hotel near Canal St caused this line to be shut down. But it is expected to return to service in early 2023. Do a quick Internet search for NORTA to find the most up-to-date info on all public transit in the city.

Drinks & Nightlife
Pat O's piano bar. People may tell you it's too touristy. Well, you're a tourist. And it's a lot of fun. Make sure you make the evening complete and
1) let the photographer take your group's picture. They're pretty good at capturing moments on 8x10 BW glossy prints and you don't pay unless you want to take a copy home.
2) order a hurricane and let the waitress know you'll want to take the glass home as a souvenir. They'll charge you for the glass, and give you a box to put it in. The box makes it a little easier to get it home in one piece when it's late.
3) buy a Lucky Dog from a street cart to enjoy while you wait for a lift home. After a few drinks, I promise it will taste SO GOOD.
