A beautiful river valley, nestled between glaciers and volcanoes. A breathtaking* 25km hike from Skógar leads this way, but a bus from Hvolsvöllur might be the go to option for many people.
This location is not accessible all year round, consult local people before setting your eyes on Thórsmörk.
*Breathtaking in both the senses of difficulty and beauty!

The essence of a Volcano, Hekla has frequently awoken in the past century and remains one of the countries most active volcanos. The paths to get to the base of the mountain are not very easy to find but for the hiking enthusiast, the challenge of Hekla is very worthwhile!

Over a hundred year old swimming pool, heated by a continuous flow of natural geothermal water. No entrance fee, just a short hike from the parking place up the river valley. After hopping some stones to cross a few small streams, you will find the pool around a corner. A beautiful place to come and bathe, but there can be a lot of people there, so come either late or early! There are unheated changing rooms, but not divided by gender.

A friendly little hot pool, with a natural source of geothermal water. Once used by local farmers to clean their sheep, it is now a popular destination for those tourists and locals that know about the pool's existence!
