Walkable from house- This is a small beach but it will have space for laying out when it is high tide. If you go before noon the shack across the street serves breakfast and lunch.

If you drive down Coast Hwy you have your choice of beaches. Carlsbad has some nice beaches, there is a paid parking lot at the end of Tamarack otherwise, it is street parking.

Tamarack Beach
If you drive down Coast Hwy you have your choice of beaches. Carlsbad has some nice beaches, there is a paid parking lot at the end of Tamarack otherwise, it is street parking.
There are beaches on either side of the pier. You can walk the Strand or lay out. You can have nice Ocean views at Ruby’s at the end of the pier. It’s a bit more of a lively scene here.

There are a lot of walking trails. You can climb the Calavera "mountain" for a nice view and a harder workout. If you walk towards Oak Riperian Park you will have a nice walk over bridges and once you reach the park it's a great playground for kids

Not Super close but worth the short drive. This hike goes along the cliffs that tower over the Ocean. It is very safe and there aren't any scary spots. The views are amazing and it's a great place to watch for dolphins. We recommend this hike!

Torrey Pines State Reserve
12600 North Torrey Pines RoadNot Super close but worth the short drive. This hike goes along the cliffs that tower over the Ocean. It is very safe and there aren't any scary spots. The views are amazing and it's a great place to watch for dolphins. We recommend this hike!
Very fun beach in the summer. It has showers, bathrooms, and a food stand. It is a pretty beach and you can get some nice beach walks here.
